Patrick roared, "Archers, occupy the rooftops imdiately! Show no rcy and eliminate any Fallen you see!"

At his command, many archers readied themselves, swiftly climbing onto the rooftops. They loosed arrows at the black figures continuously appearing around them.

Jiang Chen stood behind Clence, letting out a yawn.

He was looking at soone beside Patrick—that person was one of the Fallen.

Clence turned his head back with a glare. We’re in a critical mont, and you’re still thinking about sleeping?

Just then, a man beside Patrick suddenly attacked. With a flash of sword light, a head fell; five n died instantly. Patrick turned and struck back with his sword.

His massive blade swung down, but the Fallen quickly retreated, dodging Patrick’s attack, and lunged at Patrick again, pressing a hand against him.

The Fallen attacker unleashed a surge of power.

Yet Patrick remained unhard. The Fallen was startled, and Patrick took advantage by swinging his sword down and severing the Fallen’s arm.

Without uttering a word, the Fallen swiftly fled. Just then, two arrows shot towards the Fallen.

One pierced straight through the Fallen’s heart.

Jiang Chen glanced at the woman on the rooftop; this woman was formidable for figuring out the Fallen’s escape route and killing with a single arrow...

Jiang Chen also understood their plan. It was to create a disturbance, slay Heroes, and then, while hiding among the troops, suddenly rise up to kill Patrick. Too bad it failed.

Jiang Chen noticed that the clothing on Patrick’s body was slightly different. It must be a robe that could block True Qi. He wondered what material it was made from.

Patrick squatted down, examining the man’s face, which bore a "slave" character on its forehead.

As footsteps echoed from the darkness, the Fallen began to retreat.

Many people gathered around, looking at the corpse.

"It seems there’s nothing much to fear from the Fallen!"

"Is this a Fallen?"

"Anyone with a character on their forehead is one of the Fallen."

"Despicable fellows! These people actually launched a sneak attack. If they’re capable, they should face us in a proper battle."

"Save it. The Fallen are inherently devious and shaless. They lack the spirit of a knight and won’t agree to a duel."

Jiang Chen walked over, looking at the Fallen’s body. Black hair, black pupils—the sa as him.

Jiang Chen focused on the sword.

[The Fallen’s sword.]

[Detailed information: none...]

Jiang Chen was about to turn and leave when a middle-aged man interjected, "Don’t you go anywhere!" He then addressed Patrick, "Commander, this person has black hair and black pupils, just like the Fallen. I seriously suspect he’s a spy."

The middle-aged man pointed at Jiang Chen’s back.

Everyone looked at Jiang Chen, preparing for battle.

Patrick watched Jiang Chen’s silhouette, his expression grave. "Hero, reveal your identity."

Jiang Chen turned with a smile. "I am certainly not one of the Fallen."

Patrick said coldly, "I, as the Commander, order you to reveal your identity."

Jiang Chen revealed his identity.

[Na: Jiang Chen]

[Legion: Secret Sword Legion]

[Occupation: Swordsman]

[Level: 50]

Patrick finally sighed with relief. He had verified Jiang Chen’s identity; he was not one of the Fallen. Monts ago, Patrick himself had been startled by the thought that one of the Fallen might be hiding among his troops. Fortunately, the clothing he wore blocked True Qi.

"He’s a Hero."

"Swordsman? That Class seems unheard of."

"The Swordsman is undoubtedly a Hero. I’ve heard it’s a D-grade Class, apparently pretty diocre."

"He’s obviously here to mooch military achievents, just hitting Level 50. Doesn’t he know how dangerous this mission is?"

The person who spoke earlier said again, "Commander, even if this man isn’t one of the Fallen, he must be a spy. Otherwise, why would we have been ambushed? He surely has connections with the Fallen."

Jiang Chen laughed. "You say I’m the spy? I could just as easily claim you’re the spy!"

"You look so much like the Fallen. Are you going to deny it?"

"He has a pair of eyes, two ears, and one nose. Are you so monster with four eyes, four ears, and two noses?"

"Stop quibbling, Commander! I saw him go out earlier."

Patrick frowned, looking at Clence.

At that mont, Clence stepped forward and addressed the middle-aged man coldly, "I know you are from the Carn Family. I don’t know what grudge you have with Jiang Chen, but he is my teammate and has been under my watch. By saying he is a spy, aren’t you suggesting I am too?"

The middle-aged man visibly flinched and bowed his head. "I dare not."

By then, Patrick had realized what was happening. It was a personal vendetta.

Patrick said, "Enough. I trust him. And you, stop making baseless accusations. We’re all Heroes under the Alliance of All-Gods; you must speak with evidence."

"Yes, my mistake."

"Everyone, return to your posts and stay alert. Station an Archer on the rooftops to guard against sneak attacks from the Fallen," Patrick commanded, and the crowd dispersed.

Jiang Chen followed Clence. He glanced back at the middle-aged man, his intent to kill burning fiercely.

「Inside the house.」

Clence warned, "Jiang Chen, although we’re temporarily a team and I, as the captain, will protect you, you must resolve your issues with the Carn Family yourself."

"Once the encirclent operation ends, we’ll part ways."

Jiang Chen nodded. "I understand. Thank you for the reminder, Captain. I have a question."

"Go ahead."

"What is the Commander wearing that can block the attacks of the Fallen?"

Clence was startled. This young man was not so simple to notice that.

Clence revealed, "Those are clothes made of a special material that can block True Qi attacks. Such garnts are quite expensive and are only worn by the Commander."

Jiang Chen seed to understand. So, Patrick was prepared. However, Jiang Chen didn’t believe that only the Commander would have such clothes; perhaps all twenty team captains had them, and it was just the rest of them who were kept in the dark.

「Inside the cave.」

A group of about a dozen people returned.

The leader looked at them, noticing one person was missing.

"Is Little Five dead?"

"Yes. Patrick is wearing clothing that can hinder our attacks; they were prepared. The other mbers, however, are not."

"It’s likely only those close to Patrick possess such gear."

"No matter. Aim for the throat next ti. We must ensure a one-hit kill."

The leader considered for a mont. "Forget tonight. They’ll be on high alert. Tomorrow, they’re sure to conduct a large-scale search of the mountains. We must keep moving and try to reach the Difiled God’s territory as soon as possible."

"We need to find a safe place to hide and ensure they don’t discover us. Otherwise, we’ll all die."

"Understood."

Right now, a group of elderly people, children, and won, each with a character on their foreheads, were hiding in the cave, their faces filled with terror.

"Mom, are we going to survive?"

"We will. We surely will."

"Mom, why do they want to kill us?"

The girl’s mother was at a loss for words; she didn’t know how to explain to her child.

The rest remained silent. Why were they being hunted down? Were they really guilty?
