"Almost puked from farming so much..." Wang Linchi crawled out of the Ga Cabin. Over these three days, he had obtained a truckload of Cards, averaging about four Cards per dungeon, aside from the occasional ones he forcefully quit from, dismissing them as duds.
However, a significant portion of these Cards overlapped in function with the four he already possessed: Plum, Orchid, Bamboo, and Chrysanthemum. Most of them primarily boosted survival stats.
From Wang Linchi’s observations, most level 10 Cards were primarily aid at helping Players survive instant kills from Abyssal Demons.
The remaining Cards mainly dealt with specific negative statuses in the dungeons. For instance, the previously acquired Card Jade could reduce the negative status of Decay, a distinctive feature of those particular dungeons.
There’s not much qualitative change, just a little more tankiness, Wang Linchi thought, slightly disappointed. However, he reminded himself that he was attempting the level 10 Abyss Difficulty.
Regardless, he wasn’t bothered by this. He was already farming at a rate of one dungeon per hour; he couldn’t ask for too much. At level 20, he might not be able to finish two dungeons in three days. As for level 30, he probably wouldn’t be able to clear even one in three days.
The event has been announced. I should see what’s going on, he mused.
Wang Linchi opened the official ga website, where a striking and peculiar new logo was displayed. This represented the first Abyss Invasion event.
Chewing on so food, he started browsing.
[First Abyss Invasion]
[Intensity: 10]
[Event Start Countdown: 21 hours 32 minutes]
[Event Content: Defeat invading demonic enemies, earn points based on enemy level]
[Regular Monsters: 100 Points]
[Elite Monster: 10,000 Points]
[BOSS: 100,000 Points Professional Skill Book Shards ×1 Level 10 Set Equipnt Fragnt ×1]
Wang Linchi gazed at these straightforward event details, stunned; the reward differences were significant. However, more detailed explanations could be found by opening the rules in the top-right corner. What was listed was just a summary.
The fragnt rewards seed a bit like a scam at first, but upon further inspection, Wang Linchi found them reasonable. Two fragnts could be exchanged for a random item, while three fragnts could be exchanged for a specific active or passive Skill. Five fragnts would yield either a max-leveled specific Skill or a level 10 set equipnt piece of choice.
Another tier involved ten Set Equipnt Fragnts, which could be directly exchanged for a complete set. As for Professional Skill Book Shards, they could be converted into Set Equipnt Fragnts at a ten-to-one ratio.
Furthermore, one hundred Set Equipnt Fragnts could be exchanged for a complete set of max-enhanced, max-enchanted, max-refined, and fully gemd gear—an entire maxed-out set of the Player’s choice.
But this is just wishful thinking, Wang Linchi pondered. With so many bosses, who besides could defeat them?
Even if Wang Linchi could defeat enough bosses, he wouldn’t bother. The exchangeable set equipnt was only level 10. He coveted it, but he would need to defeat too many bosses to collect the required shards.
Next was the event store. Aside from the familiar variety of materials, there were also various equipnt boxes, Skill boxes, and so on, all requiring points for exchange. The most expensive items were Cards: ten thousand points could get a Random Card, but choosing a specific Card would cost one hundred thousand points.
At this stage, I’m afraid no Player could earn a large amount of points without relying on the Ga System, Wang Linchi thought, looking at the price of the Cards.
If Players ford teams to participate in the event, not everyone would receive the full points. The total points would be divided among team mbers according to their contributions. Those who contributed more got more points, while those who contributed less might not get any.
This was also the case for guilds, where the point distribution could be even more diluted.
However, the Ga System also encouraged team-forming and introduced team and guild buffs.
The effects of these buffs had three tiers, unlocked by killing Regular Monsters, Elite Monsters, and bosses, respectively.
While the buff from Regular Monsters was diocre, the one from Elite Monsters was a significant upgrade. The buff from bosses could cause a qualitative change, making Wang Linchi quite envious.
Presumably, this was done to ensure Players had a better chance in the event, rather than just being fodder for the monsters.
Apart from this, points could also be exchanged for various personal buffs. As long as a Player killed a Regular Monster and earned a decent number of points, they could exchange them for a personal buff for this event. This served as a kick-start, and subsequently killing Regular Monsters single-handedly wouldn’t pose too much of a challenge.
The Ga System had really invested a lot to ensure Players would have a fighting chance in this event.
Too bad these buffs only last during the event and can’t be kept afterward, Wang Linchi thought with a twinge of regret. Team buffs, guild buffs, and personal buffs all have their unique aspects and can even stack. For example, being in a team from the sa guild while also having a personal buff would result in terrifyingly powerful effects.
This gave Wang Linchi the impression that the larger the crowd, the stronger they beca.
Indeed, this was the case.
With this, Ye Tian’s Celestial Palace might just rise to prominence, Wang Linchi couldn’t help but think.
Despite Ye Tian’s certain air of superiority, he genuinely possessed abilities. After all, being the top Player on all leaderboards except the Abyss Leaderboard, and having a guild that was practically a harem, it would be false to claim he was incapable.
As the protagonist, he’s bound to thrive in this event, Wang Linchi mused.
This is also a good thing. After the event, the overall difficulty of the level 10 Abyss Difficulty dungeons will significantly decrease, and the number of available dungeons might even drop.
The entire event lasted a month, and the content was purely centered around killing—there wasn’t any complicated plot involved.
More importantly, Abyss Crystals could be obtained, which was exciting for the Players.
Not everyone could, like Wang Linchi, obtain a large number of Abyss Crystals; even if most people could clear dungeons quickly, they couldn’t grind much.
The event only starts tomorrow... Should I run through an Abyss Difficulty dungeon once more? Wang Linchi thought. He hadn’t expected the event to be announced but not yet started; this was truly unexpected.
He then climbed back into the Ga Cabin; after all, he had nothing better to do.
After entering the ga, he quickly made his way to the city gate and began selecting a dungeon. Just as he was about to enter, a voice halted him.
"You’re indeed here."
The voice belonged to Ye Tian. Wang Linchi turned around and looked at him with so confusion. We haven’t had much interaction before. He can’t still be intending to buy my Cards, can he? That would be inappropriate.
"What’s up?" Wang Linchi asked.
"How about we team up for this event?" Ye Tian asked.
"Huh? Team up with ? What about the people in your guild?" Wang Linchi felt it was odd. Did sothing provoke him? Why wouldn’t he team up with his confidantes, insisting on teaming up with a guy like instead? Is he interested in the fact I don’t shower?
"They... might need so ti for Growth on their own." Ye Tian, after the blow he had suffered three days ago, hadn’t succumbed. Instead, he had taken the opportunity to reflect on various flaws in his plan.
For example, cultivating the powerhouses from his past life. It wasn’t just about taking them through dungeons, giving them gear, and teaching them Skills for free. Although it seed like they were experiencing Growth, in reality, he had been inadvertently hindering their true developnt. And he himself had been held back by these people. Otherwise, with his foresight, he would have definitely succeeded in his Third Transformation and would be pushing for his Fourth Transfer by now. After all, with so many people dividing the Experience, even his foresight couldn’t compensate for such a drain on his progress.
He actually let go?! Wang Linchi thought, surprised. I had assud Ye Tian would continue to maintain his advantage. It seems sothing I don’t know about must have happened recently to cause this change in him.
"Hmm," Ye Tian nodded and then asked, "So, about teaming up?"
Wang Linchi thought for a mont, then nodded. "Alright, but the points will be distributed according to the System."
I wouldn’t have any problems soloing it, he considered. But if I team up with the protagonist, with my Blessing and his Protagonist’s Aura, our combined strength might allow us to wipe out all the enemies. That would definitely an a staggering amount of points.
"Fine," Ye Tian naturally had no objections. Then he asked, "Are there any other mbers you would recomnd for the remaining three positions?"
"No. If you know anyone skilled, they can join." Wang Linchi didn’t personally know any Players, but he didn’t reject the idea either. Anyone Ye Tian approves of surely isn’t just an ordinary person.
"But, let’s be clear," Wang Linchi added, I should add a condition to prevent him from ssing things up. "If you bring in any of those ’vases’ from your guild, I’ll quit the team and go solo."
"Don’t worry." They’re not ordinary people, Ye Tian replied, though he wanted to argue they weren’t vases. He couldn’t bring himself to say it because, to a certain extent, the powerhouses from his previous life had indeed been turned into decorative but useless ’vases’ due to his mismanagent. They would need ti to change.
