World Domination Begins With Getting a System in a Modern World Chapter 2: A Dream Come True
Jas woke up the next day with a slight headache.
"Ugh... I worked there for almost two years but this damn headache has always been the sa since day one." He groaned, rubbing his head, as he tried to relieve the pain.
It took a few monts before the headache finally stopped, and Jas sigh in relief.
The mory of what happened last night resurfaced and everything finally dawned on him.
He had lost his part-ti job. The part-ti job which has been the only thing helping him to survive the two years he has spent in college.
The job which was the only reason why he was able to still keep afloat, with everything that has been happening to him and with how his life has been a massive rollercoaster of unfortunate events.
Now that he has lost it, he has no idea on what to do next. He has only around $200 in his account, with the amount he was paid yesterday, totalling to almost $700. But how long will that last him?
With how expensive and pocket-bleeding things are right now, how long will $700 last him? A week? Two weeks?
He very well knew that it was impossible for that asly amount of money to last him a month. That would be just wishful thinking.
"Looks like I have to start looking for another part-ti job," he said to himself.
This was the only choice he has if he wants to continue to survive, as without a part-ti job, he would starve.
"But that will be for later. Now, I have to start preparing to go ho. It's been three months since I last saw Patty and Leslie," he said, as he swung his legs down his bed.
He looked around the room and saw that it was just as empty as it was last night. And there was no sign that his roommates ca back either.
"How nice is it to be able to live without worry?" He thought to himself with a smile, as he stood up and did so light stretches.
[Do you always talk to yourself this much?]
Jas imdiately paused mid-stretch when he heard an unfamiliar voice.
"Who was that?" He asked in a mix of shock and surprise, as he looked around the room for the owner of the voice.
But when he saw nothing, he started walking towards the door.
[Your brain is working overti for no reason. Stop panicking and think logically.]
Jas heard the voice again and this ti, he was shell shocked as he realised that the voice was coming from inside his head.
The more Jas thought about it, the more he realised that he was right. The voice was actually in his head.
This was the only explanation as there was no else in the room with him and the voice wouldn't be so loud, and clear, if it was coming from outside.
The voice sounds female, young, probably in her late twenties or early thirties. And there was sothing like a slight chanical tone to it. Like an AI...
"Wait! Was I implanted?... No. That's not possible." Jas said, as he tried to make sense of what was happening but was unable to.
The thought that sothing he had no idea or understand was happening to him, caused Jas to feel a mixture of fear and confusion.
Jas knew that he wasn't going insane and neither does he have a case of double personality, and what he's experiencing wasn't sothing that his brain was conjuring up.
It was as real as the ti he lost $3k in less than five seconds when he bought a crypto project.
"What are you? Why are you inside my head? Is this a prank?" Jas shot barrages of questions at the voice.
He wants to know what was going on and why he was hearing a voice in his head. What everything was about and who was responsible.
[Just like I said, too much questions, but I will give you the answers you need.] The voice said.
And the next mont, Jas saw a cyan screen popped up in front of him.
[Host Info Screen.]

.....
"What the?!..." Jas blurted out in shock when he saw the screen, and everything displayed on it.
He rubbed his eyes to make sure that he was seeing things correctly but no matter how tis he rubbed it, the screen was still in front of him.
He wanted to slap himself to confirm but he stopped midway when he rembered how painful it was going to be.
"Host's info screen? Account balance?... Wait, what the fuck?!" Jas exclaid, with his shock deepening.
"How is this possible? How?..." He mumbled to himself.
He slowly stretched out his hand to touch the screen, but he touched nothing as his hand passed through it.
He waved his hand but he still felt nothing. It was like the screen was in front of him and yet at the sa ti, not in front of him.
[Now, are you going to ask the right questions or are you going to keep making a fool out of yourself?] The voice asked, and Jas went silent.
He was still trying to process everything. It wasn't everyday that soone starts hearing a voice that isn't theirs in their head. Or see a screen with all his personal information and quantification of his physical abilities displayed in front of him.
[It's fine if you want to keep mute but do be inford that if I go silent after this, you will have to throw your questions to the wind.]
"Ahem...," Jas coughed, when he heard what the voice said.
He had questions but he has no idea where to start from, and thus, his mouth was left open with nothing but filler words coming out of it.
Jas was already calr than he was before and he felt that he now has a vague idea of what's going on, but he wasn't sure if he was right.
Closing his eyes briefly, he took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He did this a couple of ti until he finally felt that he was now in the right fra of mind.
'Please, be what I think you are,' he muttered to himself, hopefully.
"Explain everything about yourself and what's on the screen."
[Ok. But first, I'm not an AI. Don't compare to such trash.] The voice said, and started explaining everything to Jas.
***
A few minutes passed before the explanation ended, leaving Jas frozen in shock and disbelief
"W-what?! Wow! System?! 10x rebate?! For real?!" Jas exclaid in shock, as he continued staring at the cyan screen still being displayed in his retina.
Of course, the voice said more than just 10x rebate but it was the only thing stuck to Jas' mind, eclipsing everything else the voice had said, and making them irrelevant.
Jas just couldn't believe what was happening. He went to sleep last night, hoping to wake up to a new reality, only to actually wake up to a new reality.
"Is the universe finally ready to write my story?" Jas grinned, with anticipation gleaming in his eyes.
