After eting Cola Bear, Li Yu didn’t imdiately rush back to city B.

He had almost reached the hotel by nine o’clock last night, which counted as overti. According to the doctrine of the Double Rest Sect, he should take compensatory ti off.

Additionally, since there had been similar situations before, Li Yu accumulated them and decided to take two days off for himself.

Since moving out of the Third Era office building, he hadn’t even needed to punch in; his work was entirely on an honor system—nobody would say anything even if he didn’t go to the office.

Nevertheless, Li Yu continued with his usual routine, working when he should and resting when he should.

Never late, never leaving early, and taking overti when needed, followed by corresponding ti off according to the overti hours.

As a prophet of the Double Rest Sect, he practiced the sect’s precepts by setting a personal example.

Li Yu notified Zhang Yanlin, then put his phone on silent, slept in, had lunch, climbed White Cloud Mountain first, and in the evening, he strolled down Beijing Road and tried so local snacks.

The next day, he spent the whole day at Chilong Wildlife Park.

On the ride back to the hotel, Li Yu took out his phone and saw that about two hours earlier, he had missed three calls all from Cola Bear.

There were also more than ten ssages, but only four were from Cola Bear.

One read, "Where are you? Why aren’t you answering your phone."

Another read, "I’ve thought about what you said before, and I think we should et again."

The third one said, "Ah, I hate it when n suddenly disappear and reappear. If you don’t return my call in ten minutes, we no longer need to keep in touch."

The fourth ssage, also the last one, ca about fifteen minutes after the previous ssage, and was sent three minutes ago.

"You win, I might have so business for you here, and I’ve almost finished discussing it with the patient. Are you coming or not?"

"Coming," Li Yu typed. "I’m on my way now."

Cola Bear’s response ca almost instantly, just two words, "Haha."

Li Yu explained, "I didn’t intentionally ignore your calls and ssages. I was at the wildlife park watching animals, and I had my phone on silent. I just saw your ssages."

"You were watching wild animals, at Chilong?"

"Yeah, but I’m already in the taxi, heading back."

"Alright, see you at the hospital."

Half an hour later, Li Yu got out of the taxi in front of the hospital, and imdiately saw Cola Bear waiting there.

She wasn’t wearing a doctor’s white coat, but casual clothes, and held a bunch of flowers in her hand, waving to Li Yu.

"I took today off. Hold this for , it’s not for you," Cola Bear handed Li Yu the rose, bent down to tie her shoelaces, then stood up and took the bunch of roses back. "It’s for the patient, she likes roses."

"What’s the patient’s condition?"

"27 years old, female, my high school classmate, complex congenital heart disease that is inoperable. She has now developed heart failure and probably only has a few days left."

"Have you talked to her about reincarnation?"

"Yes, I have."

"How did she react?"

"Skeptical, but willing to give it a try. Like you said before, she doesn’t have any other options and people in desperate situations will try to grasp any shred of hope."

As Cola Bear spoke, she led the way, but after a few steps, realized Li Yu hadn’t followed.

"What’s wrong now?"

"I’m going to print out the contract first," said Li Yu.

Thanks to Cola Bear diating, the signing process this ti went exceptionally smoothly, taking less than ten minutes to complete the entire procedure.

The woman nad Gu Qian pressed her fingerprint at Party B’s section, then Li Yu collected the contract, nodded at her, and left the hospital room while Cola Bear stayed a bit longer inside and had a chat with Gu Qian.

After coming out, she saw Li Yu on the phone.

Cola Bear moved a bit closer and could vaguely hear a young female’s voice on the other end. She wanted to listen more, but heard Li Yu say, "That should cover it, thanks for your hard work."

He then hung up the phone.

"Girlfriend?" Cola Bear asked.

"Colleague."

"Oh, so... is everything wrapped up here? If Gu Qian loses her vital signs later, I’ll call you to co and take her soul."

"Yes, if the investigation goes well."

"Investigation? What investigation?"

"There were things I couldn’t discuss in the hospital room. Although the contract is signed, if the subsequent background check doesn’t pass, then I could choose not to execute the contract."

"Is that even possible?" Cola Bear was taken aback.

"The contract includes a clause that allows Party A to terminate the contract at any ti in case of unforeseen circumstances. ’Unforeseen circumstances’ includes failing the background check. I don’t just take anybody."

"Ah, unexpectedly principled about this kind of thing."

"After all, we’re hiring, not actually doing charity. However, Gu Qian’s specialty is quite good—maintenance managent of chatronic equipnt, exactly the talent we need now, so there might be so relaxation in the terms."

"Okay, I rember advising her against choosing that major when I heard she was a girl, but it turns out to be useful now. But speaking of which, does the dieval environnt also need chatronics talent?"

"Yes, my pets and I also bring so electronic devices over sotis."

"You have pets? What kind, a dog or a cat?"

"Tree frog."

"Okay... right." Cola Bear found this turn of events increasingly strange and decisively changed the subject. After a pause, she continued, "Not just Gu Qian, if I co across other suitable patients in the future, I’ll contact you as well."

"Thanks for that," Li Yu didn’t refuse, as this was the primary purpose of his trip.

Hospitals, especially the ergency departnt, are places where one can easily encounter death, and with Cola Bear’s help, Li Yu could more easily gain firsthand information.

"Five hundred per soul okay?"

"What? I’m a doctor, not so black-market soul trafficker," Cola Bear said, sowhat angrily, "Do you think I’m helping you for money?!"

"Don’t get worked up. I know you’re not. You cooperate with because you want to give people in dire straits a bit of hope, but you have indeed put in extra work for my sake, and work should be rewarded. I was rely thinking of giving you so compensation from that standpoint."

"There’s absolutely no need; I don’t lack that bit of money," Cola Bear shook her head.

"Then let’s pretend I never ntioned it," Li Yu said.

"I’m about to start my evening shift. Are you planning to stay in G City for a few more days or head back?"

Because of what had just happened, Cola Bear’s tone had beco colder.

Li Yu was sensitive to the shift, glanced at his watch, and took his leave, "I’ve already booked a flight. It’s about ti for to head to the airport."

"Then I wish you a smooth journey." Cola Bear walked Li Yu to the hospital entrance. Just as they were about to part ways, Li Yu pulled out a few A4 papers from his bag and handed them over.

"This is..."

"Employnt contract, the sa as Gu Qian’s."

"???"

"I’m still very much alive! I have a dical check-up every year, and from head to toe there’s not a single issue," Cola Bear said, cracking her knuckles, looking on the verge of a rampage, ready to thrash soone.

"I know, but it’s better safe than sorry, right? We never know whether an accident or tomorrow will co first, and you are also a talent we urgently need," said Li Yu.
