"Priest Martina, are you going back to the Sicily Temple? I happen to be heading west of the city as well. Let’s go together; you can ride in my carriage."

Priest Kerkwon stood under a tree and, seeing Priest Martina approaching, took the initiative to speak.

Priest Martina nodded at his words and asked the two disciples who had co with her to return on their own before getting into Priest Kerkwon’s spacious four-horse carriage.

Once the carriage door was closed, Priest Kerkwon shed his forrly feeble deanor, and even his eyes seed less cloudy as he said in a deep voice, "We must stop Hirodod."

Priest Martina said nothing, rely waiting quietly for Priest Kerkwon to continue.

"Both you and I know Reeves is not the type to take his own life out of guilt. I heard that as soon as he learned of the incident at Green Field, he sought out Hirodod right away, probably to discuss counterasures. But shortly after eting Hirodod, he suddenly died."

"Are you implying sothing?"

"Don’t tell you haven’t had your suspicions, Priest Martina. Your earlier view on Hirodod was correct; he only appears ek on the surface but, in reality, he is very dangerous. Poor Reeves spent his entire life nurturing his wings and expanding his power, yet his greatest investnt turned out to be his biggest oversight."

Priest Kerkwon sighed, "I know you and Priest Reeves never got along, disliking how he ford cliques everywhere and brought the Noble Families’ ways into the Church. But surely you didn’t want him to die in such a confused manner, especially by the hand of his own disciple. That is simply appalling!"

"We have no evidence to prove that Hirodod had a hand in it," said Priest Martina.

"Right, Hirodod insists that Reeves committed suicide, and the only witness has been taken away by him to ’assist’ with the investigation. He knew from the start we would have no way to hold him accountable."

"Who is investigating Reeves’s death now?" Priest Martina asked further.

"The Redmayne Family, Thorny City is their territory."

Priest Martina recalled, "Didn’t the Family Head Ralph of the Redmayne Family and his eldest son Eddy get killed by the Black Dragon? Who’s in charge of Thorny City now?"

"Ralph’s grandson, but the child only just turned three this month, so currently, the child’s mother and father are in charge, or more precisely the father, Fabio. He’s from a little-known minor Noble family, but he has a way with won. Ralph’s daughter adored him to death."

"Rumor has it she was pregnant before they married, and in the end, Ralph had no choice but to grudgingly accept this son-in-law. However, he never really liked him, and that extended to his own daughter and grandson too. So he gave the three of them a sum of money and sent them away from Thorny City."

"Since Ralph had only one son and one daughter, after the Redmayne Family’s tragedy, people rushed to bring back the family of three."

"At first, the vassals wanted Ralph’s daughter to take over as the city lord, but she declared that her body and heart already belonged to her husband, insisting on letting her husband take the position. Yet other mbers of the Redmayne Family and their vassals disagreed."

"The two parties argued over the matter for half a month, and Reeves even intervened on behalf of the Church. Eventually, they compromised, making that milk-suckling baby the city lord."

"So Priest Reeves had a decent relationship with the Redmayne Family. Do you think they will seriously investigate Priest Reeves’s death?"

"Fabio is very crafty, and if Reves were still alive, I have no doubt he would rember the favor from before, but the problem is Reves is now dead," Priest Kerkwon said. "The Church also needs to send people to Thorny City to investigate the truth."

"So who should we send?"

Priest Kerkwon was at a loss for words for a mont, and after a long silence, he stamred, "Priest Reves still has quite a few disciples and friends..."

"What’s the difference between them and Fabio? Those who co for benefits will surely leave for benefits."

Priest Matina said indifferently, "Hirodod controls the Inquisitional Squad, the Church’s only hidden ard force, a group of cruel and rciless unbelievers who only listen to his command. Even if it were proven that he killed the man, what could we do about him?"

Priest Kerkwon was truly panicked this ti, "So are we just going to watch him wreak havoc? If he could kill his own teacher, he would surely also kill us..."

"Moreover, he’s planning to form another army of three thousand n. Needless to say, the commander will definitely be him. When that ti cos, with one overt and one covert ard force at his disposal, wouldn’t he be even more uncontrollable?"

"Did it take you this long to realize what kind of monster you released by handing the Inquisitional Squad over to Hirodod?" Priest Matina raised her eyebrow.

Priest Kerkwon wore a bitter expression, "Right, we’re to bla for not heeding your warning earlier, Priest Matina. But what’s done is done, we still need to think about what to do next.

As a High Priest, a devout believer in the goddess, you certainly wouldn’t want the Silver Moon Church to fall completely under Hirodod’s control, so if you have any ideas, please speak up. If there’s soone in the Church who can stop Hirodod’s madness, it must be you."

"You’re overestimating , Priest Kerkwon," Priest Matina shook her head, "Hirodod and his teacher Reves are different. He doesn’t play by the rules, so the thods I used against Reves won’t work on him."

Priest Kerkwon couldn’t hide his disappointnt at these words, "Is there really nothing we can do?"

He stared fixedly into Priest Matina’s eyes, as if trying to find a glimr of hope within them.

However, her response only chilled his heart, "For now, just do your best to preserve yourself. When necessary, it’s also possible to make so concessions to Hirodod."

......

Priest Matina alighted from her carriage in front of the Sicily Temple, but she didn’t go into the Temple. After a while, an inconspicuous grey hooded carriage stopped in front of her.

Priest Matina got in, and soon, the grey hooded carriage disappeared down the street.

On the other side, Priest Kerkwon had already returned to his residence. However, today, there was a guest in his luxurious study.

Hirodod was flipping through the "Chronicles of the Silver Moon Church" he had taken from the shelf. Hearing footsteps approaching from the door, he didn’t even look up, but simply pointed to a chair nearby.

"Sit down, and tell everything that Priest Matina just said to you in the carriage, without missing a single word."
