Li Yu had just installed six surveillance caras on the outer wall of the inn, covering all directions and angles and even encompassing a nearby street and two alleys.
In addition, during his last return, he had purchased so wireless eavesdropping devices and brought them along this ti. These devices, similar to radio stations, could operate on specific frequencies to send and receive information without the need for an internet connection.
The disadvantage was that their sound pickup radius was only about one ter, making it hard to hear from farther away; however, Li Yu used them to monitor the movents inside nearby buildings, exploiting the targets’ ignorance of modern eavesdropping technology.
He even had people present these devices as gifts to the suspects, claiming they contained so form of lucky power.
Many people treasured them as precious items, strung them up with cords, wore them around their necks, and refused to take them off even while sleeping.
As for the caras, which looked like big eyeballs, people were amazed by them, but they didn’t avoid them; so even urinated or defecated in front of the caras.
After finishing, they just pulled up their pants and left without wiping.
Besides Li Yu, probably no one realized that the first espionage battle on the Bratis Continent had just begun.
The other party involved was clueless about the war they had been drawn into from start to finish.
Since victory ca too easily, Li Yu didn’t even feel much of an achievent.
With the dual reinforcent of video and audio recording devices, it took only three days to locate all the spies David had hidden near the inn.
During this period, Hels had sent people over twice, extrely cautious each ti, appearing only in the late hours of the night, wrapped tightly in a cloak, showing only their eyes, and leaving imdiately after shooting arrows, never lingering.
He sent the Lady eting tis and locations, but the girl, following Li Yu’s instructions before he left, temporarily ignored them.
By the third encounter, Hels was visibly anxious, as David had been persistently hunting his remnants in the city and searching for his traces.
Hels felt the pressure and was even more eager to et Ireya.
Thus, not long after, he sent another ssenger who had just bent a bow and aid at an upstairs window from the darkness. Before he could release the bowstring, a hand crossbow erged from that window, and the next mont, a small red dot appeared on his chest.
The crossbowman on the other side did not hesitate to trigger the chanism, and the crossbow arrow shot out, striking the ssenger squarely in the chest.
For a mont, the ssenger thought he was dead since he was only there to deliver a ssage and wore no armor.
But then he realized that the crossbow arrow that hit him had been deflected and had fallen to the ground.
The crossbowman from the beginning had not intended to take his life; the arrowhead had been flattened and carried no lethal force.
The ssenger also noticed the paper wrapped around the arrow.
Without a mont to spare, he picked up the crossbow arrow that had fallen to the ground and then hurriedly disappeared into the night.
However, he did not realize that in the night sky behind him, a drone had also quietly risen, following him like a ghost.
Thomas held the remote control, leaped from a window on the second floor, then continued his pace and climbed up the stone wall opposite, swiftly crossing the top...
This was the safe route that Li Yu had planned out, which avoided all the hidden sentries nearby. The Prophet of the Double Rest Sect initially planned to follow by himself, to experience the thrill of stealth as in the creed of assassins.
However, considering his own skills and stamina, he eventually made the wise decision to give up.
Drones had a limited remote range. If he couldn’t keep up and lost sight of the person, that would make things too amusing, and he might even bump into the guards of the Figrola family on the way and need to avoid them promptly.
So, taking the safer route, Li Yu chose to lend the Double Rest Sect’s Divine Bird to Thomas to control.
The newly knighted Thomas was personally trained by Alfred, exceptionally skilled and agile, and always acted with calm composure. Li Yu could rest assured entrusting this important matter to him.
Since he didn’t need to rely on his eyes to track the target, Thomas could comfortably hang far behind the ssenger, thereby minimizing the risk of being discovered to the greatest extent.
Even though Hels’s ssenger was vigilant enough to look back frequently and even purposely took several roundabout routes, he still couldn’t shake off the drone hovering above him.
Ultimately, the ssenger darted into a perfu shop.
Thomas did not follow inside but instead controlled the drone to hover above the perfu shop. After a short wait, he saw the ssenger sneak out from the back door and rge back into the night.
Thomas was about to follow but suddenly paused, recalling sothing.
He then enlarged the drone’s cara view as taught by Li Yu and noticed that the crossbow arrow previously in the ssenger’s hand was now missing.
Thomas narrowed his eyes. He couldn’t be sure if the ssenger had removed the letter from the crossbow arrow or left the arrow inside the perfu shop.
Watching the ssenger getting further away and about to escape the range of the drone’s surveillance, the knight knew he had to take a gamble, and he ultimately decided to stay.
About three minutes later, the back door of the perfu shop opened again. This ti, a short figure ca running out.
He clutched a slender package in his hand, which by its size and shape seed to contain the crossbow arrow.
Thomas breathed a sigh of relief. Once the figure had run a distance, he followed again.
Before the drone’s battery was depleted, Thomas saw the figure arrive at a mansion that appeared opulent. The figure forcefully threw the package inside and then hurried away, head bowed.
Thomas squinted, studying the building intently.
After a mont, he finally recalled whose property this was, causing him to gasp in shock. Then, without lingering any longer, he quickly returned to the inn and reported to Li Yu and Ireya about everything he had seen that night.
Miss Rabbit, too, was startled when Thomas ntioned where the crossbow arrow had ended up. "Are you sure you didn’t see wrong? That’s the Campos family’s property?"
"No mistake," Thomas said, "I passed by there the last ti I was in Rock Snow City and specifically asked the locals about it. That place belongs to Finance Officer Golden Finger Roro."
