Shadow Tower, Silent Cetery.

This cetery, carrying a touch of desolation and tranquility, is situated in a relatively secluded area on the east side of the Shadow Tower.

In the knowledge of most official wizards in the tower, death ans the complete return of consciousness to oblivion, and funerals are rely aningless rituals. They don’t even care if their corpses after death are devoured by wild magic beasts or dissected into research material by colleagues on the lab table.

However, not everyone who enters this tower is so cold and unfeeling. Wizards ultimately originate from the human world, especially for those young apprentices who have just left the mortal realm, many emotions and habits have not yet been worn down by the long life and cruel truths. Feeling sorrow for the passing of companions and seeking a resting place for the deceased are tender aspects of humanity that are difficult to let go of.

Therefore,

many years ago, a group of apprentices who still held onto these thoughts spontaneously cleared this land. They cleared away wild grass and erected simple stone tablets, agreeing that whenever a companion unfortunately passed away, they would bury them here.

As ti passed, this place gradually beca an unwritten tradition within the tower—a resting place exclusively for apprentices.

At this mont, Lynch stood in this cetery, now abandoned.

With the decline of the Shadow Tower, the order and vitality of the past have long dissipated. The present Silent Cetery is left in ruins. Decayed and cracked gravestones, resembling rotten teeth, stand haphazardly beneath spread thorns and thick moss, silently telling the desolation forgotten by ti.

Lynch’s figure stood quietly among them, before him a newly erected monunt starkly contrasting with the old gravestones.

He bent down and gently placed a bundle of unknown white wildflowers plucked from the wilderness in front of the grave covered with fresh soil.

After careful consideration, he finally chose to bring Adam back here.

Though Adam’s hotown was in the Saladin Kingdom as well, he lost his parents at a young age and held little attachnt to the land. On the contrary, he viewed the Shadow Tower as his true ho and sanctuary.

Lynch still rembered how Adam, during idle conversations in the past, half-jokingly and half-seriously ntioned: if he were to fall soday, he’d hope to rest in the tower’s cetery, at least... closer to this "ho."

Now, Lynch fulfilled this unspoken wish for him. Only, this "ho" had long decayed as well.

As Lynch stood silently before the grave, imrsed in the reminiscence of the past and the desolation of the present, he suddenly felt sothing, his brow twitching subtly.

He raised his right hand, his slender forefinger casually drawing in the air before him. A space crack with silver-edged glow appeared silently like torn silk. Lynch reached inside, retrieving a uniquely shaped magic badge seemingly carved from fragnts of stars—

This was the emblem used by the Starry Sky Magic Academy for urgent contact.

At that mont, the badge in his palm trembled slightly, the runes on its surface emitting a soft, continuous glow. Without hesitation, Lynch lightly tapped the core rune with his fingertip.

"Buzz—"

The badge emitted a soft hum, a concentrated beam of light projected upward from the rune, quickly expanded into a clear light screen. Soon, the image of a short figure appeared in the screen, Abbas, the Academy’s dean.

Even through the screen, Abbas’ distinctive features stood out despite his dwarf-like stature of only 1.23 ters, with gray-white long hair casually draping, and the hem of his deep gray cloak dragging on the ground, yet his eyes deeply set in wrinkles shone with the wisdom and depth belonging to a Fourth Tier space rules master, differing greatly from his appearance.

"Dean Abbas." Lynch nodded slightly, performing a simple yet solemn wizard’s salute.

The small old man in the light screen imdiately reciprocated with corresponding etiquette, ticulous in action, displaying excellent manners and respect for Lynch.

Although Lynch was currently a Third-tier Domain wizard, one tier lower, Abbas had already regarded Lynch as an equal due to Gulwige’s importance attached to him and his pivotal role in space truth research.

Then, raising his wrinkled face, he straightforwardly spoke: "Mr. Lynch, my teacher, Mr. Gulwige, has received the special spiritual sample you previously transmitted."

His voice was aged yet exceptionally clear, carrying the rigor of a researcher. "My teacher conducted an in-depth analysis on it."

Lynch’s gaze sharpened. He had extracted a strand of hair containing abnormal spiritual power from Lanice, and after preliminary research, he transmitted it remotely using Space Magic to the Blue Realm Wizard Domain, entrusting it to Dean Abbas, specialized in this field, hoping that with the wisdom of the Fifth Rank wizard and space truth master, he would penetrate its essence.

Pausing for a mont, Abbas’ expression beca unusually serious, he gazed through the screen, tightly fixing Lynch’s eyes, his tone weighted with gravity as he inquired: "Mr. Lynch, a critical question arises. The spiritual power trait presented by your sample, is it isolated within the Freemasonry Church, or... is it widespread?"

Hearing this, Lynch fell into a brief contemplation. He recalled the perceptions during interactions with Reo, Codinos, Saros, and other lower-tier church mbers, then confidently replied:

"As per my personal interactions with every mber of the Freemasonry Church, be it high-level Inquisitor Bishop or ordinary priest, it seems deep in their spiritual essence lies a similar trait. I believe it’s widespread."

Upon receiving this answer, Dean Abbas’ expression instantly grew even more solemn, his wrinkles seeming to deepen, fear flickering within his eyes.

"Is sothing wrong, Dean Abbas?" Lynch, keenly catching his change in expression, imdiately pursued.

Abbas inhaled deeply, as if to calm the tremor within, then slowly began, his voice bearing unprecedented severity: "According to my teacher’s analysis... this pervasive spiritual power is neither naturally ford nor subtly influenced over ti. It resembles more an artificially pre-set ’mark’, or rather, ’fuel’ or ’coordinates’ prepared for a grand ritual."

He further explained: "These special spiritual powers reside within individuals, silently rging a certain unknown rune power into their spiritual essence."

"Though currently unable to fully decipher its ultimate purpose, my teacher emphasized such extensive, near-coverage of all mbers within a huge organization in synchronized and ’polluted’ spiritual power is exceptionally rare and... an extrely dangerous signal."

"It might point to a vast conspiracy unnoticed, its scale beyond imagination."
