Wizard: Start with Biological Transformation to Grind Experience Chapter 503 - 35: Betrayal Fueled by Unequal Spoils
In the middle of the field, Julia’s clothing was in tatters, the once pure and sacred white gauze dress now shredded and torn.
She leaned heavily on her Silver Staff, supporting herself on one knee, her eyes glaring fiercely ahead, filled with shock and disbelief.
"Father Yodel!"
She blurted out.
On the opposite side, Yodel cooperated perfectly, placing one hand on his chest, bowing to Julia: "Your Highness, the Holy Daughter."
Julia asked in confusion: "Why? What do you an by this!"
She roared: "Why did you betray , betray the Church Court!"
Even the most foolish person would understand now that the so-called allegiance was a complete conspiracy, a plot specifically targeting her, and everything today was Yodel’s plot.
"Betrayal?"
Yodel sneered: "What right do you have to speak of betrayal in front of !"
He exclaid emotionally: "What were you before this, just a re Light Priestess, on the fringes of the Church, rember how you had to struggle for even cultivation resources yourself."
"But look at you now, high and mighty, the most honored within the Church Court, everyone must remain humble before you."
"Who empowered you with all of today’s glory?"
"It was !"
Yodel shouted: "You would still be that Low-level Priest scrambling with those adventurers in the Underground City for a ager inco if it wasn’t for my recomndation to that scum, Saul!"
"But what have you done once you gained power?"
His voice turned mournful: "You dismissed with the position of a re regional bishop, and at that, a region like Laud Kenno’s mountain areas. What? Were you so eager to burn bridges? Afraid of keeping in the Church central so as not to reveal your past wretched state?"
Yodel’s eyes turned red, his voice a cold sneer: "What are you, you are nothing in front of , you slut!"
The conflict between Yodel and Julia could easily be described with four words—
Unequal sharing of spoils.
Don’t be fooled by the perception that he rely offered Julia a recomnding opportunity. In reality, presenting Julia as a candidate before Lynch was a process laden with fierce struggles and machinations, where a myriad, including Yodel, believed they exerted significant effort.
As the victorious party, Julia should have theoretically rewarded those who paved the way for her, but in reality, she did not satisfy everyone’s appetite, or at least not adequately.
There weren’t enough resources to distribute, so took major shares, positions weren’t enough, among nurous other reasons that resulted in a bunch not being satisfied, Yodel among them.
He considered himself the main contributor to Julia’s ascendancy. Without his recomndation, Julia wouldn’t be where she was today. He saw himself as a definite high-level in the Church, eyeing the successor’s role to the Red-clothed Archbishop, Saul.
However, after Julia’s rise, she only managed to dismiss him with a regional bishop role, identity, status, resources... How could this be tolerated!
Julia’s face flushed with anger, but she knew she was at fault here, so she could only clench her teeth, furiously saying: "I am the Holy Daughter of the Church Court, to harm a hair on my head, the Church Court will never forgive you!"
"You, all of you here, you blasphemous ones, await the Church Court’s wrath!"
"Heh!"
A cold laugh sounded, coming from Christoph standing beside Yodel.
This elder of the Ivory Tower sneered: "Rest assured, Your Highness the Holy Daughter, you are the head of the vast Light Church, the faith repository for all believers. We certainly won’t harm you; on the contrary, we will cherish you esteedly."
After a slight pause, he continued: "We said, didn’t we, that we ca today to discuss the Ivory Tower’s allegiance to the Church Court, that’s not a deceit to you. However..."
"We have reservations about the Church Court’s sanctuary, Feiyan City being such a distant place, almost negligible in the entire Jade Land. It’s a backwater we previously disregarded as a rustic outpost."
"Such a backwater cannot match the noble status of Your Highness the Holy Daughter. Therefore, in the Ramding Kingdom, we have rebuilt a place of solitude for you, in our Ivory Tower. Henceforth, your residence shall move here with us!"
Julia imdiately realized the real purpose of these people’s attack on her today, and a shiver of horror surged in her heart.
Clearly, they intended to imprison her here as nothing more than a puppet!
If she truly fell into their hands today, not to ntion the Church Court’s future impact, crucially, she herself would lose any semblance of freedom henceforth.
Whether she could even remain alive would be a question...
As a forr Wizard Apprentice, she was thoroughly familiar with the various ans employed by Wizards. The cruel thodologies to fully control her are indeed too nurous to articulate...
Escape!
She must escape from here!
"I will not let you succeed!"
She stood up abruptly and shouted fiercely. Disregarding the severe injury to her spiritual power, she once again summoned her remaining spiritual strength to summon golden flas quickly forming a fireball in front and swung her Silver Staff fiercely to hurl the fireball forward.
The golden fireball exploded with a thunderous roar, transforming into a sea of fire that rolled towards the three.
Taking this opportunity, the white wings on Julia’s back spread powerfully once more, propelling her skyward, without looking back, she flew towards the rear.
"Hmph, foolish!"
However, before Julia could escape far, a cold laugh rang out.
Suddenly, the woman among the three lifted her hands forward, and in an instant, her hands morphed into countless branches, which rapidly broke through the fla, rushing forward. In a flash, they caught up with Julia ahead.
These branches were extraordinarily bizarre, seemingly possessing high resistivity. Julia’s flas were utterly ineffective upon them.
She could only watch helplessly as the branches overwheld her, firmly binding her and dragging her groundward.
On the ground,
restrictive footsteps arose, those Knights surrounding her had already gathered, cold smiles on their faces.
Julia was nearly in utter despair.
Seeing her entrapnt was inevitable today, however, just then—
"Whoosh!"
A resounding wind-breaking echo abruptly resounded at this mont.
In the pitch-black night, a golden luminescence suddenly blossod from afar and rushed towards this place at lightning speed, like the dawn rising at daybreak.
In the blink of an eye, the luminescence had arrived before Julia; only then could she vaguely discern a human figure.
Golden-haired, clad in golden armor, holding a golden treasure sword, with three large white wings spreading wide at the back, resembling the fabled Holy Angel.
Before anyone could react, the golden angel fiercely swung the treasure sword downward.
The vines, which even Julia’s Holy Fla couldn’t harm a bit, were cleaved in two as if slicing through tofu!
