Otherworld.
Carl’s figure appeared in a stream, the gurgling water quickly soaking his clothes.
"Has the river changed course?"
He rembered clearly that when he left, he was in an open area without any streams nearby.
And now.
Surrounding mountains rose, and streams crisscrossed.
It was obvious that a powerful battle had taken place nearby, altering the terrain significantly. Judging by the situation, it must have been a Third Tier clash.
"Third Tier!"
Carl looked up at the gradually collapsing crescent moon:
"This world has already begun to accommodate Third Tier power; it seems ordinary people have no choice left."
As he spoke, he fumbled around his body, and took out a paper for communicating, already filled with text.
Glancing over it, Carl sighed softly:
"Just as expected!"
The gods of another world had reached a consensus; the followers of the various divines no longer fought among themselves but instead joined forces to eliminate followers of other divines, setting aside their bloody feuds for now.
An old friend inford Carl that the previous alliance was void, and suggested he should find a way to leave this world.
Otherwise...
One day they would et blade to blade.
"No one has ever asked for the views of ordinary people in this world, whether it’s the divines of this realm or the evil gods from beyond."
"Indeed!"
"To them, ordinary people are rely fodder for harvesting faith, what voice do they have?"
Shaking his head, Carl conjured a fla in his hand, burning the paper into ashes to prevent pursuit.
After determining his direction, he stepped towards the west.
......
Tin Town.
From the outside, it seed like an ordinary town.
Carl, carrying a large broad sword on his back, walked along the town’s streets until he arrived in front of a dilapidated temple.
He placed one hand on his chest and bowed his head in salute to the elder cleaning by the door:
"Follower Conni, requesting to join the Holy Hall."
Based on the soul mory he obtained after killing, this was a secret base where Holy Knights gathered.
Carl planned to infiltrate the Holy Hall to see if he could find sothing left by the Moon Goddess and obtain Source Material.
Moreover,
This was a gathering point for the natives of the Otherworld, relatively safe.
If possible, he planned to stay and recuperate in the Holy Hall for the next few years.
"..." The elder paused, scrutinizing him slightly:
"Follow ."
The two entered the temple one after the other. The elder moved a candelabrum, revealing a passage leading underground.
Picking up an oil lamp, the elder glanced back:
"It’s rare to see anyone worshiping the Moon Goddess nowadays."
"Uh..." Carl’s expression paused slightly:
"I have always believed the Moon Goddess has not completely fallen, just that I didn’t know how to join the Holy Hall."
"I got the news recently, so I rushed here."
"Hmm." The elder replied noncommittally:
"You ca at the right ti. The Holy Hall is short of people now; follow the Second Elder for now."
"Second Elder?"
"Buck, Holy Knight Buck."
"I an, don’t I have to go through any trials?"
"..." The elder paused, then chuckled softly:
"The Holy Hall isn’t what it used to be. What matters now is survival, not loyalty."
"The evil gods from the Exotic Realm have descended upon this world; desecration is unavoidable. The Holy Hall needs to change too."
Carl pondered deeply.
According to the mories he plundered, the Holy Hall was highly secretive and cautious to evade the pursual by several Dukes.
Unless you were a baby raised by the Holy Hall, joining halfway required nurous trials to prove one’s piety to the Moon Goddess.
Once left, returning was nearly impossible.
Even those who lived in the Holy Hall for decades didn’t know its exact location.
And now...
It seed everything had been simplified.
"Buzz..."
Opening a heavy stone gate, a place resembling a communal dormitory appeared before Carl.
He glanced at the stone gate, his expression unchanged.
The stone gate was heavy, difficult to push open; this implied that the elder before him was a Legendary Knight.
Have Legendary Knights beco so trivial?
"The canteen and Martial Arts Training Room are here, the washroom is at the end, and you’ll stay in this room."
The elder opened a room, revealing a four-person dorm, already inhabited by two.
Oddly enough.
One was male, the other female.
The male looked gloomy and cold, while the female had a face like a little girl but an exaggeratedly mature body.
Carl turned around speechless.
"Rooms are scarce, no choice." The elder shook his head:
"Besides, you are all God’s children. Living together as brothers and sisters, what’s the issue?"
"Hello." The girl-faced one stood up, speaking first:
"Ruiqi’er, he is Hu, and you are?"
"Conni." Carl bowed:
"Conni Bergman."
"Conni." Ruiqi’er nodded:
"It happens to be al ti; follow to get familiar with the surroundings here."
Hu said nothing, simply picking up the knight’s longsword beside him and casually slinging it over his waist.
The canteen was large.
And lively.
Over a hundred people dined there, sounds mingling noticeably, a stark contrast to the scenes in the mories.
In mory.
The Holy Hall base was solemn and grave, with nothing but scripture reciting and praying.
But now.
Noisy and chaotic, it felt more like a bandit gathering place.
"Joining the Holy Hall has many benefits." Ruiqi’er explained, carrying a large bowl full of at:
"You eat as much at as you want, and it’s Exotic Beast at, which helps temper our bodies."
"You can go to the Martial Arts Training Room later to choose a Martial Art from Old Yellen. What’s your cultivation?"
Hu stopped and looked up.
"Great Knight." Carl considered it, then said:
"I want to find a way to beco a Legendary Knight here."
"Great Knight?" Ruiqi’er’s beautiful eyes brightened:
"At your age, reaching Great Knight, there’s a great chance to ascend to Legendary. As long as you work hard, the Holy Hall won’t withhold Original Artifacts. It’s not like before; Original Artifacts aren’t rare now."
Hu nodded at the side.
"Why?"
Carl laughed:
"Did you join the Holy Hall to increase your strength too?"
"Yes." Hu spoke for the first ti, his voice sowhat hoarse:
"I want to beco a Legendary, and possibly a Holy Knight. Only the Holy Hall can help ."
" too." Ruiqi’er smiled:
"Legendary Knights live for two hundred years and retain their youth. Faith in the divine can’t achieve that."
"That’s because your faith isn’t genuine." Hu said in a muffled voice:
"With true faith, you could enter the Divine Domain after death, remaining eternally youthful."
"Heh..." Ruiqi’er sneered:
"You believe that?"
Carl pondered deeply.
It seed that after the war among gods, knights in this world had lost faith in them.
Joining the Holy Hall was rely to beco stronger, not for faith.
The Holy Hall had also changed. Previously, it only accepted devout followers; people like Ruiqi’er and Hu couldn’t have joined.
Now...
It must have been to combat the invasion of Exotic Realm Gods.
Martial Arts Training Room.
"Pa!"
A dwarf threw out a thick book, roaring loudly:
"You can pick any Cultivation Technique or Martial Art from here. Picking a second requires completing a task from the Holy Hall."
"Also, as a Great Knight, acquiring an Original Artifact also requires completing tasks to accumulate enough rits for exchange."
Carl flipped through the book, looking at the dwarf:
"I want to know what tasks are available?"
"Heh heh..." The dwarf grinned:
"Can’t wait, huh?"
"Here!"
He threw out an even thicker book.
"Tasks are all in there, have a look yourself."
