"Mrs. Xu, you shall lie to rest first. You’ve cooperated with us very well, thank you. Oh, is the temperature fine for you?"

Leslie caught every word spoken by Dr. Mo. Smiling faintly, she nodded, "I’m... good. I’ll... shut... my eyes... for a... second."

Dr. Mo and the nurses were very considerate of Leslie. Understanding how her current health condition was, they let her rest from ti to ti during the checkup sessions.

Leslie t other specialists and a group of therapists at the sa ti. They were being mindful of her state. She believed she would see them again soon.

Leslie had just finished going through all necessary examinations. The nurses led her to a room where she was suggested to rest even for a mont. They dimd the lights to let her feel comfortable.

"In the anti, I’ll speak to your husband about your state," said Dr. Mo while glancing at the wristwatch, "Is that okay with you, Mrs. Xu?"

"Yes..." replied Leslie without any hesitation, "You... may talk... to him."

Leslie was too exhausted to think about what Dr. Mo would discuss with Calix. She simply wanted to take a short nap right now. He would surely tell her about it later.

"Then, I’ll step out now," Dr. Mo smiled in relief, "The nurses will co here at regular intervals. If you need to, you can press the button by the bedside."

"...yes."

Without waiting for Dr. Mo to leave, a drowsy Leslie slowly closed her eyes. She faintly heard the echoes of the forr’s footsteps walking out of the room followed by the door shutting.

’Mimo... I didn’t expect it will be this hard. Can I go through this?’

Leslie had never felt this vulnerable in her entire life. Oh, she did once—during the fatal accident—but, both were different situations altogether.

Even lifting one hand took so much of her effort. Leslie couldn’t imagine the devastating pain she needed to go through during the rehabilitation sessions.

Sigh... If only she had so kind of cheat. She could recover in an instant without the need for rehabilitation sessions.

You can do it, Leslie! I’m sorry... you can’t skip this part. You’ll need to rebuild your strength.

Leslie smiled listening to Mimo’s reply. The crochet fox toy sounded so supportive before it suddenly apologized to her.

’It’s fine. I’ll successfully go through this. If I’m not, how could I take care of Poppy once we’re reunited?’

Yes! Yes! That’s a good mindset, Leslie! Oh, don’t worry about Poppy. She’s still in good hands. Focus on your recovery first.

Leslie tried not to feel too helpless due to the situation. It seed like she had to postpone her wish of eting Calliope. Even if they t now, her weak physical would be a hindrance.

’Yes. I’ll take a nap now. See you at ho.’

Okay!

Mimo’s voice instantly vanished from Leslie’s mind. Relishing in the silence, she slowly drifted to slumberland.

While Leslie was taking a nap, Calix was back in Dr. Mo’s office. The experienced doctor laid out the facts related to Leslie’s health state and the possible treatnts that would follow soon.

"Mrs. Xu is in a better state than my initial assumption. This is a good sign. But, she still needs regular checkups with different specialists. Her therapy sessions will range between three to five tis a week."

The physical and occupational therapy would be conducted side-by-side while the speech therapy during separate tis. The finalized version of Leslie’s rehabilitation plan would co out after Dr. Mo had other etings with the specialists and therapists.

Calix focused on everything Dr. Mo was telling him. When he needed a more detailed explanation, he raised the questions without delay.

"I know that pain is inevitable during those sessions," Calix let out a sigh, expressing his worry through his wrinkled brows, "But, please make it as comfortable as you can for my wife."

Dr. Mo’s smile was tinged with helplessness. She was amused yet relieved to see the level of concern projected by Calix. This ant he would involve himself with his wife’s long route of recovery.

"Mr. Xu, as you’ve said just now, pain is inevitable," Dr. Mo calmly repeated Calix’s remark before continuing, "The patient needs to receive the utmost support from her family. In this case, you as her husband."

Calix nodded once, understanding what Dr. Mo ant. He doubted that Leslie would feel good receiving encouragent from her parents. He should step up and dutifully play his role as her husband.

Calix rembered how supportive his family was during his ti years ago. They didn’t pressure him with nasty words when he whined about how painful and hard those sessions were.

Clasping his hands together, Calix knew that he should step up more and dutifully play his role as Leslie’s husband. He couldn’t speak about her feelings but, it was highly likely she felt she was at her lowest now.

"I’ll do that, Dr. Mo," said Calix firmly as if promising to himself. Staring at Dr. Mo, he brought up, "I also have another thing to discuss with you. It’s about my wife’s rehab."

"Feel free to ask, Mr. Xu," Dr. Mo wondered what the young CEO had in mind, "I’ll answer your inquiries to the best of my ability."

"I want to know if we can..."

The rest of Calix’s words flowed out of his mouth, surprising Dr. Mo. She didn’t expect that the man was thinking about it even before the sessions started.

"It can be done. As long as the environnt is conducive and you have a proper space, your vision can be fulfilled."

Calix’s eyes flickered in delight. Despite already anticipating a positive answer, he still needed to ask Dr. Mo.

"I’ll tell my assistant to get in contact with you, Dr. Mo. Please link with a good team for that," Calix was quickly reminded of Edward who was supposed to be enjoying his weekend, "My assistant will relay everything to ."

Dr. Mo chuckled in helplessness, "Sure, Mr. Xu. This is not a rare request. We receive it from ti to ti."

Calix was thoroughly relieved, "Then, I’ll go to my wife. Thank you for your ti, Dr. Mo."

"It’s my pleasure, Mr. Xu. You and Mrs. Xu may leave through the private hallway."

Calix imdiately left Dr. Mo’s office, heading to the room where Leslie was resting. A nurse guided him there. Once he arrived, he found out that she was so deep in sleep.

"Mr. Xu, do you need us to wake Mrs. Xu?" asked the nurse in a low voice.

"Let my wife sleep more," Calix waved one hand, gesturing at the nurse to leave, "I’ll stay with her until then."

"Please call us if you need any assistance."

The nurse bowed at Calix before stepping out of the room. Calix quietly made his way to the bedside. A gentle ray of sunlight slipped through the gap between the curtains, scattering its light in the dim room.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Calix silently took in Leslie’s sleeping countenance. He hesitated for a mont before reaching out for her face.

The knuckle of his index finger gently brushed her cheek. The faint warm sensation stirred sothing in his heart.
