He didn’t know back then, but he certainly knows now.
He now understands just how difficult it had been for his mother, and recognizes that indeed it was all because of his own faults.
Given that understanding, he certainly also knows what changes he ought to make going forward, and how he should strive to correct it all.
At this mont, Liu Zheng had returned to the clinic.
After seeing a few patients, he was ready to take a good rest.
However, just as he was lying on the bed, preparing to rest for a bit, a sudden knock resounded at the door.
Not only that, the knocking was very intense, as if so serious incident had occurred.
This indeed made him very surprised; he had no idea what could have possibly happened all of a sudden.
So, he imdiately got up from the bed, opened the door, and prepared to see who it was.
To his surprise, when he opened the door, he found Liu Jiaxin, her hair curled into big waves and wearing a red dress, standing before him.
Seeing her standing there with a serious face, Liu Zheng still didn’t know what had happened.
"What’s wrong? Why have you co looking for so suddenly? Are you feeling unwell?" he asked.
But Liu Jiaxin didn’t respond at all; instead, she walked in on her own.
The next second, she sat down in the spot where Liu Zheng usually sat, looking grave.
Seeing her acting this way, Liu Zheng’s curiosity grew even stronger.
He really couldn’t tell what was wrong with her; she didn’t look ill or like she was in any discomfort.
At this very mont, Jia Xin’s heart was indeed very restless, unsure of how to pose her question.
How could he, who could drink so much that day, almost considered a bottomless drinker, to the point where even the waitstaff were amazed, get slightly drunk after having just a few drinks with her?
This question had been puzzling her, and she had been contemplating over the past few days how she should face this issue.
She didn’t know how to resolve it all.
And now, especially upon seeing him like this.
It made her feelings even more complex.
She even began to doubt whether coming here was the right choice.
She was afraid that perhaps she was just overthinking it.
In just a short ti, she had thought about a lot, and while Liu Zheng saw her sitting motionless, his puzzlent deepened, prompting him to walk over to her, lift his hand, and gently wave it in front of her eyes.
"What’s the matter with you? Do you want to say sothing to ? Just tell ," he said.
He could tell that Jia Xin seed hesitant to speak and didn’t know what was bothering her.
After a while, Jia Xin finally gathered the courage, lifted her head to look at Liu Zheng, her eyes still carrying a hint of hesitation.
A mont later, she finally spoke up.
"I heard that the last ti you were drinking at my place with others, you drank quite a lot," she stated.
She didn’t directly ask the question she wanted to, but instead brought up another topic.
When Liu Zheng heard this, his confusion naturally grew. Had she co all this way just to ask him about that?
Nevertheless, he had no intent to hide anything, so he simply nodded lightly and said,
"Yes, I did drink quite a bit that day, I guess the word must have spread on your end too."
"But it was just because I wanted to help a friend, you know? At that ti, friends were being continuously and non-stop fed drinks, and I just couldn’t stand by and watch, so I intervened to rescue them."
Upon hearing this, Liu Jiaxin opened her mouth to respond, but then she didn’t know what to say next.
Liu Zheng was also very confused at heart; he had no idea why she had co all this long way to ask him what all this was about.
But then, when he saw the expression on Liu Jiaxin’s face now, it seed like he finally had an epiphany.
If his guess was right, she probably wanted to know why he got drunk so easily when they were drinking together afterward.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have hesitated for so long, not knowing how to ask.
Because she was usually quite straightforward.
Normally, no matter what happened, she would speak up without hesitation, but the situation now was really quite unusual. Perhaps she also felt embarrassed, especially since sothing did happen between them afterward.
But now Liu Zheng himself was hesitating whether he should tell her about the pill he knew about.
He had already told one person.
If things continued like this, wouldn’t more and more people know?
At this mont, his heart was indeed filled with hesitation, not knowing what choice to make.
After thinking it over for a while, Jia Xin eventually decided to let it go.
After all, this was soone else’s business, and it was sowhat improper to pry too much.
Maybe he was indeed deceiving her.
Since that was the case, why bother asking for clarity? As long as she understood in her heart, then she should just avoid contact and explanations with him in the future.
Everyone is an adult now; so things really don’t need to be spelled out so clearly, as it can make things awkward between two people.
So at this mont, she quickly got up, grabbed her bag from the table next to her, and prepared to leave.
Seeing that she had been sitting there for quite so ti, asking such a question and now wanting to leave, Liu Zheng felt that sothing was off.
He was embarrassed because he had guessed the woman’s thoughts.
But he didn’t know how to express them.
Not until she had reached the door did he finally step forward and asked.
"Why are you leaving without saying anything?"
He saw that Liu Jiaxin seed to really want to leave quickly.
So he imdiately grabbed her hand and asked.
But Liu Jiaxin quickly shook off his hand, gave him a cold look, and said.
"Let’s forget it, we should stop contacting each other in the future."
She felt that Liu Zheng was not being sincere with her. She had wanted to see him more and have als together because he resembled an old friend.
But now it seems.
She really thought too much.
Often, things are just not as simple as one imagines.
