Chapter 853: Chapter 85 Soft Mouth (5,200 words rged into 2)_2

According to speculation, the innocent man used to replace Xu Sixing last night was a gambler who enjoyed playing dice. He likely owed quite a bit of debt and was the type of person whose disappearance from the city wouldn’t cause much of a stir.

They wanted to find a scapegoat and didn’t need to look far from where they lived.

Wuxin dug deep into this clue; by finding the gambler’s true identity, he could roughly determine the location where the opposing party resided. Liangzhou City had seventy-four district markets and nearly a million residents. This would instantly narrow the target down to within four districts, making the search several tis more efficient.

The opponent surely understood this, so Wuxin had made such a big commotion, likely with an intentional motive, akin to a Martial Artist dropping a large stone into a fish pond to stir the waters, forcing the other party to reveal themselves.

According to his understanding of Wuxin, the external commotion was large, but at most only three-tenths of his strength was mobilized, with the remaining seventy percent lying dormant, waiting for the opponent to make a mistake.

If the opponent remained silent and inactive, Wuxin would seize the clue and follow the trail.

If they made a mistake, they would face the Heavenly Nets Earthly Traps of seventy percent of Liangzhou City’s Imperial Court Martial Artists in an all-out pursuit.

As for whether there was a third thod, there likely was, but he couldn’t guess what it might be.

Wang Anfeng tapped his forehead with a finger, unconsciously recalling four years ago when he had just committed an act and was hiding in Fufeng, thinking he had concealed himself well, yet Wuxin found him and monitored him for months without being noticed.

Thinking about how his actions were exposed under Wuxin’s gaze, especially those clumsy disguises and misdirections, even now Wang Anfeng feels a strong sense of sha, with an impulse to cover his face and sigh, murmuring:

“Wuxin this person…”

“Is truly insidious and tre… cough, cough, no, I an, deeply thoughtful…”

With no one around, Wang Anfeng almost blurted out his main impression from those days but caught himself, coughed dryly, and adjusted his thoughts internally, considering that Wuxin was now a friend rather than an enemy. If they ever had to be at odds one day, he’d surely run far and fast.

Footsteps sounded outside the door, Wang Anfeng’s expression cald down as he flicked his sleeve and used Vigorous Qi to toss the slightly recovered Xu Sixing under the bed. Once the person outside stood still, lifted a hand to knock on the door, he calmly spoke:

“Who?”

The person outside replied: “I have co by the order of Lord Wuxin.”

Wang Anfeng’s vigilance lessened, he went to open the door, where stood a man about thirty years old, dressed in Vermilion Clothes, appearing sharp and experienced. After welcoming him into the room, the latter proactively folded his hands in greeting, respectfully saying:

“I am Hu Bu, at your service, Doctor.”

Wang Anfeng understood, guessing that Wuxin had described him to others as a doctor caring for Xu Sixing. He had anticipated this and wasn’t surprised, nodding and gently saying:

“Constable Hu is too kind.”

Hu Bu grinned: “I am just a Patrol Officer, unworthy of the title Constable.” After speaking, he handed over a piece of white paper from his bosom, with writing in Wuxin’s handwriting, sealed with a stamp.

Wang Anfeng’s final wariness dissipated.

Hu Bu’s laughter slightly subsided, glanced around, coughed, and lowered his voice to say: “Well then, Doctor, Lord Wuxin wants those, two corpses…”

Wang Anfeng understood and nodded, then pointed a finger towards the bed.

Hu Bu blinked in surprise, and upon seeing Wang Anfeng poised to bend down, hurried to stop him: “Doctor Wang, please, let handle such rough work.”

Wang Anfeng hesitated: “But…”

Hu Bu thought he was worried that he might be afraid to see the dead bodies like so new constables, so he patted his chest and confidently smiled:

“Doctor Wang need not worry, I’ve been in this role for seven out of ten years, climbing up and down, seen all sorts of corpses, can be considered an experienced specialist.”

Not waiting for Wang Anfeng to agree, Hu Bu straightforwardly bent down and prepared to reach under the bed.

At first glance, he saw beneath the bed, a bleak scene resembling Hell, in the darkness, several arms stacked, with eyes wide open in front, beside them a ghastly pale mask, seeming to cry or laugh, staring directly at him.

Hu Bu shivered and called out instinctively:

“Mother of Immortals!!”

Then with overwhelming speed, he darted out from under the bed, as if it was Hell’s unending depths, complexion pale and breathing hurried, his body stiffened upon noticing the quiet ‘famous doctor’ beside him, aware of his own unprofessional outburst, this supposedly reliable specialist coughed into his hand, embarrassedly chuckled:

“Under the doctor’s bed, quite, quite unique indeed…”

He racked his brain to choose the most tactful descriptor.

Wang Anfeng softly replied:

“Thanks to your master’s grace…”

Hu Bu awkwardly smiled again and bent down once more. This ti, being prepared, he refrained from calling out like before, avoiding a big embarrassnt and after so effort, managed to pull out all three corpses from under the bed and set them together.

Wang Anfeng frowned: “Are you just taking them out like this?”

Hu Bu smiled: “Of course not, it would surely alarm the city’s citizens. I brought a cart this ti, loaded the corpses onto it, and covered layers of white cloth. So long as no one ddles to lift the cloth, there won’t be any issues.”
