Chapter 689: Chapter 36: Isn’t Today March 27?
The stars are scant, and the moon is bright.
“So, have you thought it over?” Edwin looked at Hewinia, who sat by the window. “We don’t really need to keep waiting here, do we?”
Hewinia glanced at Edwin, “You’re no longer interested in that corpse piece?”
“Of course, I am, but I feel there’s no hope left, at least not with that person,” Edwin shrugged, “You beat him up pretty horribly a few days ago. If he’s not out of his mind, he probably won’t dare bother you again… at least not alone, so it’s not much use for us to wait here any longer.”
Hewinia did not speak, only tapping the magic wand lightly, appearing thoughtful.
Two days passed, and Hewinia’s wounds had fully healed, but she hadn’t left. She wanted another chance to act against Rocky, for missing this opportunity might an a long wait to find the next corpse fragnt holder.
anwhile, she was also waiting for Bai Wei to co. After all, her battle with Rocky had created quite a stir, and if Bai Wei were nearby, he’d certainly have received the news. Once he realized it was her in action, he’d surely locate her easily using his eye.
Yet, Bai Wei did not co.
That left two possibilities: either Bai Wei hadn’t received the news at all, or he had but couldn’t co personally.
Among these two possibilities, Hewinia hoped it was the forr. Because if it were the latter, it would only an Bai Wei was in a bad state or entangled in so troubleso affair he couldn’t extricate from.
If that were the case, Hewinia must consider what she herself could do now.
“They’re reinforcing here.”
Edwin spoke again, interrupting Hewinia’s contemplation.
“What?”
“They’re reinforcing here,” Edwin repeated while tapping his temple, “I can feel colleagues approaching; as expected, it’s likely the Nightmare Followers. Seems like they know we haven’t left, planning to fish us out.”
“Nightmare Followers from your church pose no threat to .”
“I know, but the support coming won’t be limited to just our church mbers,” Edwin said, “Having initially failed, they will prepare thoroughly for the next attempt. Think about it, Rhein, Eternal Nightmare, Contract Land, at least three major forces are encircling the two of us…”
“Even if it cos to that, I can still escape.”
But I can’t!
Edwin almost couldn’t help but shout.
Understanding his own capabilities well, Edwin knew if Rocky had faced him that night, he could have been subdued with barely a clash.
Moreover, it’s foreseeable that because of the previous night’s failure, the various churches will increase their efforts to besiege him next. If Hewinia chooses to abandon him at this ti, he would indeed be finished. So, Edwin must bind himself tightly with Hewinia.
“Alright, Miss Hewinia, I know you might have so misunderstandings about ,” Edwin said, “But please believe , I’ve never harbored any ill intentions against you. Whether you have a corpse piece or not, I wouldn’t target you. We’re companions, aren’t we?”
What made Edwin uneasy these days was Hewinia’s attitude.
After that night, Hewinia’s wariness increased noticeably, and Edwin knew it was due to his inadvertent exposure of his ambition to seize Hewinia’s corpse piece.
But it was unavoidable. That was Visas’s corpse piece!
From this world’s most powerful, most perfect, most eternal body ever!
The allure is comparable to a chick encountering a busty woman, Rhein Priest running into a little boy… no no, even this doesn’t compare. Visas’s flesh—no—Visas’s corpse piece is undoubtedly the most abandonnt-prone existence of principles in this world!
If not for lacking strength and the strategy to wait for Hewinia’s natural demise back then, Edwin would have dared the risk that night.
Regrettably, there weren’t such “ifs.” His retreat that night left him scrambling now, hoping Hewinia, considering his hold on the forbidden knowledge, wouldn’t turn against him.
Seeing Edwin candidly express this, Hewinia imdiately revealed a half-smiling expression, “Oh, really? You truly don’t desire my corpse piece?”
You actually have it!
Edwin’s heart skipped again, reflexively wanting to nod, but he fought hard to refrain. Then, he righteously declared, “Of course not, even if you have it, I can’t take it. Given the current situation, I need your power to deal with those church hounds! Yes, so let’s instead hunt other corpse pieces.”
“So you were suggesting to raid the Naless Town for fake corpse pieces?” Hewinia asked, “Are fake corpse pieces useful?”
“Absolutely,” Edwin nodded repeatedly, “With a sufficient quantity, they can be effective.”
Then, Edwin explained the principle to Hewinia.
After listening, Hewinia asked, “Since that’s the case, why didn’t you head directly to Naless Town initially?”
“Naless Town is Black rchant’s territory,” Edwin stated sowhat helplessly, “With my current strength, raiding Black rchant Headquarters is quite a delusion. But with you, it should be possible. It’s at least easier than snatching from that Rhein Bishop.”
