Lately, the first thing he does when he gets ho from work is change into sterile loungewear.

He makes baby food for his daughter, feeds her himself, plays with her, plays gas, reads picture books, tells stories, and sleeps with her at night.

Joy is not yet one year old, but she is really well-behaved. During the day, Mrs. Rhodes and her nanny take care of her. She doesn’t cry or fuss.

At night, she no longer needs to wake up for milk and can sleep through the whole night.

After his daughter falls asleep, Adrian Lancaster turns around, opens the liquor cabinet, and his distinctly jointed fingers take out a bottle of whiskey and grab a tall glass.

He turns and walks to the single armchair by the window, pours himself more than half a glass, and the bedroom lights remain off, creating a hazy atmosphere.

His mood grows heavy, weighed down.

He puts down the bottle, holding the glass of whiskey, looking at the deep night outside, feeling a sense of otherworldliness.

Faye has been gone for 107 days... it feels as long as 107 years.

Each day is excruciating for Adrian Lancaster, especially in the stillness of night, yet he doesn’t show it.

He has to steer the company; personal emotions shouldn’t be brought to work—so many people rely on him for their livelihood.

At ho, his grandfather and parents constantly watch over his state, occasionally calling Mrs. Rhodes to inquire...

To prevent the elders from worrying, Adrian Lancaster ensures he doesn’t lose weight, eats plenty of food, and wears a smile while doing everything.

It’s as if he’s already moved on from the pain of his wife’s departure...

But in truth... this pain is sothing he will never truly move past, because he was truly in love.

He loves Faye Turner more than he loves himself.

If soone wanted his life in exchange for Faye’s safety, he would do it without hesitation.

Adrian Lancaster sits by the window, his noble features tinged with a natural elegance, yet in the stillness of night, he is incredibly vulnerable.

He drinks one sip after another, wanting to briefly numb himself, but he can’t get drunk; he still has to care for his child.

Perhaps, if he got drunk, it wouldn’t hurt this much?

As he drinks, a damp mist seems to form in his eyes, the dark chasm in his heart continuously tearing open.

mories of him and Faye, from their flash marriage to every mont of knowing each other, float to the surface...

As scene after scene appears, his longing grows so deep that his heart feels painfully torn apart.

Tears roll down his handso face.

He continues to drink glass after glass in the room, which is particularly quiet, as if he can hear the steady breathing of his little baby.

The next morning.

Jadepoint, The Xavier Family.

When Gia wakes up, she lies in bed for a long ti, her eyes open, recalling last night’s dream...

So vivid, a lovely little girl nestled in her arms, already calling her ’mommy’.

Such a marvelous mory...

After getting up, she sees Old Mr. Downey in the yard.

The old gentleman has a good habit of taking morning walks, which is very health-conscious, so even in his advanced age, he is quite fit.

"Good morning, Grandpa."

The old man stops and glances over, "Awake? Good morning."

Gia walks over to him. "Grandpa, from today on, I want to prepare my own dicine. I don’t have much going on anyway."

The old man looks at her, "Alright, the dicine is ready on the table."

"Okay," she nods, "Can I avoid going to the pharmacy? How about I prepare it here instead?" After what happened yesterday evening, they had to be cautious with that girl, Rhiannon Xavier.

"Probably not, it’s not easy to make a fire here. Why don’t you go and ask?"

The Xavier Family has all the necessary facilities for preparing dicine.

She knows that Chinese dicine requires a slow simr, "Okay." After chatting with the old gentleman for a bit, she returns to the hall, picks up the dicine from the table, and heads toward the pharmacy.

Coincidentally, Rhiannon Xavier got up early too. To be precise, she hadn’t slept at all last night.

She has liked her brother for so many years, yet was rejected. How could she fall asleep?

The feeling is no different from that of a breakup!
