"Yes."

Soon, footsteps faded into the distance as Victor Peterson faced the terrace. He sensed that all the dical staff had left, and he quickly heard the door shutting.

Shortly after, Faye Turner appeared before him, observing his complexion. Compared to the last visit, he seed to have recovered quite a bit.

"I don’t want to talk today." Faye dragged a chair over casually and sat down in front of him. "I want to hear you speak."

Victor Peterson had many, many doubts.

The biggest question was—

Had she discovered his imposter identity? Otherwise, why the change in attitude?

She no longer called him ’dad’ nor was she as close as before.

"You..." Victor slowly opened his lips and looked up at her, "Do you know about my identity?"

He managed to speak one complete sentence; his voice was slightly hoarse, but it was clear and understandable.

Faye looked at him, her voice tinged with mild anger, "Have you sat in this position long enough to forget who you really are?"

So, she knew.

But how did she find out?

Did Eliza Hayes tell her?

"I brought you dicine. As long as you take it on ti, it can cure you." Faye leaned back in the chair, her expression indifferent as she observed his reaction.

He was puzzled, "Why are you saving ?" He was such a nefarious person.

"Where is the real Caleb Lancaster?" Faye asked directly, "Is he dead or alive?" Staring intently into his eyes, she left him no room for deceit.

"..." His chest tightened at the question.

Faye made it very clear to him—

"He better be alive because if he’s dead, I won’t save you either."

"I don’t know..." The other party was terrified.

In Faye’s view, those four words represented hope; at least he hadn’t directly killed Mr. Lancaster at that ti.

"Can you tell what happened back then?" She wanted to hear his version, "The more clues you can provide about Caleb Lancaster’s whereabouts, the better. Tell everything you know."

Victor Peterson knew that regardless of whether he spoke or not, he wouldn’t end up well; he would face legal consequences.

Currently, he was already in her hands.

However, the physical pain had tornted him for so many years.

Now, when he finally felt a bit comfortable, his desire to survive was still strong.

So, he began recalling as he confessed—

"That year, Caleb Lancaster had a car accident and lay in the hospital for a long ti, unconscious, reportedly due to a head injury."

"Was the car accident related to you?" Faye asked.

Victor quickly replied, "No, absolutely not!"

She did not inquire further, "Continue."

"At that ti... the doctors were all at a loss."

"Thinking he wouldn’t wake up, and because I resembled him a lot..." Victor spoke without stuttering or stumbling, just with a slightly hoarse tone, perhaps due to not speaking for a long ti.

He said, "So, I adjusted my appearance slightly to match his photo. That night, I bribed a few of the Lancaster’s staff, intending to swap myself in, but when I opened the ward door..."

As he spoke, he stopped.

Faye calmly questioned, "What did you see?"

"I saw several guards watching over Caleb Lancaster lying in the ward, unconscious, and the ward was empty." Victor told her, "Caleb Lancaster had been taken away."

"Are you sure it wasn’t your n?" Faye found it unbelievable.

The man in the wheelchair shook his head and said very confidently, "Of course not my n, I only had a few people."

After a mont, he continued—

"Soon after, I heard footsteps approaching from outside, so I simply lay on the bed pretending to be unconscious, and that’s how I successfully took his place..."

After hearing this, Faye fell into deep thought. Who could have abducted Caleb Lancaster? When he was gravely injured and dying, what was the purpose of taking him away?
