The turn of events could be said to have taken Bai Fu completely by surprise.
She had thought that after making several conspicuous appearances in succession, soone would start targeting her soon, and it was ti for her to intentionally lay low for a while, letting others draw fire.
But before any targeting began, an invitation had already arrived first.
A peace summit?
What a joke.
The situation within the Tem Civilization had reached a point where contradictions couldn't possibly be eliminated by just one eting. If anything substantial could be negotiated, the factions of the Tem Civilization wouldn't have needed to directly engage in intense warfare.
"Even I understand this, so how could Yuan Yi, an old fox who has lived for who knows how many years, not understand? There must be deceit in this!"
Little Fox Bai Fu's guard was up to the maximum.
Firstly, what could be confird was that the invitation was real because if it was fake, it would be imdiately discovered upon verification.
So, what was Yuan Yi's true purpose in sending out this invitation?
Was it to lure her into a trap and kill her in collusion with other forces, or was there a bigger sche at play, not targeting her, and inviting her rely because her fa had grown significantly?
As Bai Fu pondered, a task prompt arrived.
[You have triggered the hidden task "Secret eting"]
"A task, really?"
Bai Fu quickly opened the task details.
The task requirents were very simple: just attend the peace summit convened by Yuan Yi.
The task reward was 5 million experience points, which seed quite unimpressive.
But there were additional notes behind this task, and in fact, two notes.
1. There are additional rewards after completing hidden objectives.
2. There is a high probability of triggering the next round of tasks after completing the task.
"The reward is ordinary, which ans that attending the eting is not very risky, or rather, there's hardly any risk at all."
"The task has hidden objectives; is it to increase soone's affinity, or is it to trigger additional plot points? If it's additional plot points, could there be danger?"
"The most important thing is the second note. If there are follow-up tasks, it ans that the eting itself is not targeted at ."
Bai Fu was a bit curious to see what Yuan Yi was up to.
If she missed out on sothing important by not attending the eting, she would be at a significant loss.
However, she didn't rush to reply imdiately; instead, she contacted Silver Zhu first. As the Secretary-General of Star Contract, Silver Zhu must be very familiar with Yuan Yi and the Arcane Library; maybe she could offer so helpful advice.
"What a coincidence, the Oath Lord has also received an invitation from Yuan Yi."
Silver Zhu's virtual form conjured an invitation out of thin air, identical to the one Bai Fu held.
Then she spoke of Yuan Yi and the Arcane Library.
"Yuan Yi was one of the earliest people in the Edge World to reach the rank of Super Supre, so early that no one knows exactly which year he advanced, only that he is extrely learned, often called the 'walking library.' The Arcane Library he established is an academic research organization, looser in structure even than Star Contract, but it's this loose scholarly organization that has helped him amass a vast network of contacts; he has good relationships with Super Supres among the Three Major Cosmic Civilizations. His convening of this peace summit ans that all parties will likely extend him so courtesy."
A combination of a face-value player and an Arcane Professor?
Bai Fu asked, "Will the Oath Lord attend the eting?"
Silver Zhu shrugged: "The Oath Lord doesn't have a great relationship with Yuan Yi, but she will definitely check it out since he personally sent an invitation. If you want to attend the eting, go with the Oath Lord, and I will arrange a spaceship to pick you up."
"Okay."
Bai Fu agreed swiftly.
With the Super Supre Oath Lord present, a lot of trouble could be avoided.
After reaching an agreent with Silver Zhu, Bai Fu inford Nellis of her decision to leave temporarily but would leave Cecilia and Black Fu to continue their watch over Lockheed.
Nellis didn't say much, as he had also received an invitation from Yuan Yi, and although he didn't plan to go personally, he still sent his closest subordinates to represent him at the eting.
Several days later.
A spaceship from Star Contract Headquarters arrived in Lockheed, and after bidding farewell to An Ya and the other players, Bai Fu boarded the spaceship.
The spaceship sped away and soon joined up with the colossal ship boarded by the Oath Lord.
Gargantuan.
Not just ordinarily so.
From a considerable distance away, Bai Fu made a rough estimate and realized this vessel, dubbed "Vow," was at least forty or fifty kiloters in length, with an imposing design exuding a sense of grandeur and massiveness.
"They really have money; a spaceship like this would cost nine figures upwards, right?"
Bai Fu was envious but not surprised.
If the Origin Consortium could build a City of Knowledge to showcase their ostentation, the Super Supre Oath Lord, no matter how poorly managed, wouldn't be poorer than the Origin Consortium.
"It's said that the Planet Level battleships built by the Three Major Cosmic Civilizations are at least several thousand kiloters in length; the Imperial Rebirth Empire's infamous Light of Destruction is even more impressive, spanning beyond a million kiloters, which is several dozen tis longer than the superweapons called 'Halo' in that series. Such technological marvels are perhaps the key reason why the Three Major Cosmic Civilizations have remained unshakable."
Super Supres were powerful; a single individual's might could make a Star System Group Level civilization tremble in fear, truly a movable God of Destruction.
But the requirents to beco a Super Supre were too strict. A dead Super Supre is irreplaceable, as the ti and material costs to cultivate a new one are far greater than constructing a new Light of Destruction. In terms of destructive power alone, the Light of Destruction is on par with most Supres.
