Noxious Fangstike’s POV

After witnessing this fight so far, I truly realized just how limited my energy reserves were. If Resentful Shadow Snake and I had co together to defend against these two sect leaders, at our best, we could have injured them. Of course, that was if I only relied on my internal energy. I still had my three poisons.

Dominant Restraint Master had to be running low at this point. His face had gone pale, and his long white beard had turned into a scraggly ss. His blank gaze focused on the Harmonious Sound Sect’s leader.

“I think I can capture him in four more moves,” Fairy Peerless Cacophony said while plucking a string on her zither, “but I can only hold him for ten seconds. Is that enough? Because I won’t have the resources to pull out any more attacks after that.”

I grimaced. “It will have to do.”

She clenched her jaw and delicately weaved a dragon out of music Qi and laws before sending it forward. The way she interlaced them to enhance each other and create vast vistas was impressive.

If we made it through this, I would try sothing similar. Of course, I’d first have to comprehend more than one law.

“Get ready!”

She flung out a hand, producing a glittering silver rope that shot forward.

Since just standing behind her wasn’t going to help our situation. I secretly broke up the Demon Fire Poison pill and used my spiritual energy to hide the particles within her attack. At the very least, my poison should weaken him.

“Is that a subduing art that uses earthly laws?” I’d co across very few attacks purely ant to subdue an opponent without hurting them.

“My Harmonious Sound Sect has the most skillful four arts cultivators on the continent. We had to develop a masterful subduing art... for healing purposes.”

“...”

A smile crossed her face, even as both my poison and her art were pushed aside by Dominant Restraint Masters’ simple shielding technique.

I snapped my fingers, which ignited the poison pill’s remnants. Purple smoke surrounded him. His eyes turned red from exposure to it. Unfortunately, he held his breath, or it would have caused the energy in his immortal bones to burn for a ti.

With one wave of his hand, he gathered the smoke and sent it back. Of course, before it even reached us, it had sublimated harmlessly into the air. I hadn’t forgotten that my niece and master were below. Only a fool would use a poison they couldn’t fully control in this situation.

She paused her playing, then began a different song that was lively and filled with mirth. This created silver threads that bounced and jiggled. Dominant Restraint Master released illusory beasts to block them. Both attacks canceled out.

I cleared my throat. “He seems to know your techniques.”

She briefly winked at . “He’s co to for healing many tis, so he’s experienced them before.”

I put two and two together and regretted it. What they did in their own ti was none of my business.

“A woman never reveals all of her secrets or the full scope of her techniques. Hurry, go!”

Now that I knew how it worked, I created the counter to the enslavent cure ten tis faster. I gathered my energy and prepared a movent technique.

Peerless Cacophony ran her hands through all her zither strings. Thousands of silk-thin threads filled the sky and sped toward Dominant Restraint Master.

When she said she wouldn’t have the resources to continue, I hadn’t believed her, but after witnessing this... how could she be anything but empty?

Clearly, he was also running low since he only sent a hooded hawk illusion towards her. The strands overwheld the bird without stopping. They wrapped around him like a cocoon, leaving only his head visible.

I activated my movent technique, appearing right beside him. While chanting in my head, I touched my curse breaker enchantnt to his skull.

When it reached his skin, curse energy blasted toward . Incredible pain shot through my hands. I found myself thrown half a li away. A sourness filled the back of my throat. I spat out three mouthfuls of blood.

When I glanced down at my hands, they had turned bloody and raw.

Damn it! Iron Fang, or rather the Demon Sage, must have left an additional curse to prevent tampering. Hah, maybe I should have expected this; after all, I had released Gold String Delicate Touch’s ancestor from enslavent. The demonic sect would have done what they could to stop that from happening again, and the easiest way to do that was to set a trap.

The enslaved sect leader must have used up the last of his spiritual energy to overpower his restraints.

I took the strongest, most expensive healing pill I had on and focused on repairing my hands. They quickly recovered, but I’d need sothing stronger to fully heal them later.

“That looked like so kind of trap curse! Are you able to continue?” Peerless Cacophony asked while pulling out a powerful defensive tool.

“Yes.”

“Then I’ll fall back and recover. I’ll return as soon as I can.” She glanced over at the other sect leader. “It appears as if Dominant Restraint Master does not have enough energy to keep going. But that doesn’t an he won’t have so tricks up his sleeve. Be cautious.”

Unlawfully taken from , this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

I nodded and watched her take a step and vanish.

Perhaps I was hoping for so advice or a way to bypass the extra curse, but I briefly glanced down at my little in-na master. She was in the middle of her band and obviously had far more on her shoulders than any Foundation Establishnt cultivator ever should.

Resentful Shadow Snake was also busy. He and his partner fought Iron Fang and his half-dozen demonic beasts. They were nearly overwheld, but still did their part.

I was on my own.

The first thing I needed to address was the trap curse. Traps usually only went off once, so there was a chance it wouldn’t be an issue. But if it was, then I’d just have to try again until it worked. To that end, I would have to capture him.

I pulled out my next Immortal Bone Creation poison called The Refined Unending Night. When I wrapped it in my earthly law, I sensed the toxic plants and the strange fla that had gone into making the pill. They seed to resonate.

That was when I realized an unexplored aspect of my law. Connection, resemblance, and then… mass duplication!

I waved my arm and manipulated my law to produce a thousand copies of the pill at once. They were just as strong as the original, but would vanish once I ran out of energy.

Ha! This was incredible!

My duplicates began to burn with an illusory green, strange fla, the sa one I’d used to concoct them.

They stretched out before like a field of emperor-grade jade.

Dominant Restraint Master, who hadn’t co out unscathed from the tamper-proof trap, had blood dripping from his scalp. The enslavent curse must have drained his intelligence to nothing because he hadn’t even bothered to use a healing dan or a spirit replenishing pill. He continued to form hand seals like a puppet and sent a leashed illusory dragon toward .

“...” He just used his life energy, decreasing his life span, just to keep attacking! That must be a habit of his, and why he looked so damn old at his stage.

With a gesture, I ford the poison pills into a fiery snake and sent them forward along with a half dozen duplicates.

As his dragon t my snake, both energies blew each other apart. A few of my burning pills landed on his beard, causing his hair to catch fire. Instead of trying to pat it out, he decisively cut it off.

His face turned pale, and he suddenly coughed up three mouthfuls of blood! The fus had reached him, sending the poison into his nose and mouth.

Unfortunately, Dominant Restraint Master had a domineering will. At least, that was what the rumors ntioned when I asked around. According to our sect elders, during his younger days, he would fight to his last breath, then keep going.

Even as the poison spread through his body, showing its progress through the veins of green fire that extended from his head down to his neck, he didn’t stop creating illusory beasts. A half-dozen appeared in front of him. His Demon Sage master must have decided to end things, including his life.

I pulled out the last pill I’d prepared for this fight, called the Ninety-nine Blended Deaths Poison. Using up all but a tenth of my remaining energy, I duplicated it and ford an army of snakes that looked like my Inky Air Corrupter and my late spirit beast. I pointed with two fingers, sending them after the illusions. Their tails twisted as they shot forward, and their poison-pill fangs bit down on the mythical beasts.

Our powers perfectly canceled each other out!

That was when Dominant Restraint Master finally succumbed to my Refined Unending Night poison and dropped.

I threw Little Cauldron out, enlarged it, and caught him. With a gesture, I brought his body to . Finally!

I scanned him with my divine sense, checking to make sure he was unconscious.

Suddenly, his nails turned black and elongated. Pain suddenly blanked my mind. When did his hands wrap around my neck? His nails had pierced my skin, drawing blood. I couldn’t breathe.

I grabbed his wrists and tugged. They didn’t even loosen.

The world dimd around the edges, forcing to rely on my divine sense.

Shit. What could I do now?

Hah, was it only that?

Ever since I contracted with my first spirit beast, I’d had musk-producing glands that had frustrated . I could never control them as I wished. Thanks to my master, they had beco a weapon I could now skillfully use. My personal weapon that no one could take from .

I enhanced my connection with Inky Air Corrupter, who had shot up to the pinnacle of stage three after my tribulation. My musk glands ford. I let loose a massive cloud of stench and sent it into my cauldron. With my improved realm ca an improved stink that perated through his pores and could affect a cultivator even while unconscious. He released , bent over the side of my cauldron, and threw up.

While not exactly elegant, it was very effective.

I ford the curse-breaking enchantnt at the tip of my finger.

He bent over and threw up again.

“...”

I kept my hands far from his head this ti and floated the enchantnt toward his scalp while internally performing the chant.

The poison fla burned up the curse, freeing the man. Unfortunately, he was still unconscious.

”Well done, fellow Daoist!” Peerless Cacophony said. “Please give him the antidote, if you would?”

I grimaced and made a grasping gesture. The poison I created with my law left his body completely, forming an erald sphere in my hand before vanishing.

I quickly took a healing pill to repair the damage to my neck so I could speak again. Unfortunately, my voice was still hoarse.“There’s no need for an antidote.”

”Good. Now, when we get a free mont, I want to talk about that girl down there who created a song out of thin air that made dozens of Nascent Souls fall asleep. If you’re sending anyone to my sect as a hostage, send her.”

Ha! She’d just fallen into my master’s trap. “Of course.”

”Oooo! She even called down an epiphany!”

”Can you wake him up? We need his beasts to fight Iron Fang. It’s only right that he takes care of his own ss.”

”That’s easy!” She appeared next to and used a cleaning technique on him that wasn’t nearly as strong as Master Lin’s. After shoving a healing pill into his mouth, she grabbed his robes and slapped his face. “Get up and say, ‘Mistress.’”

I imdiately regretted asking.

But it was effective. He jerked awake. “What?”

She grabbed his face and pointed it toward Iron Fang. “Take care of your traitor!”

He groaned, but lifted a hand. Seven beasts at the equivalent of the beginning Immortal Bone Creation appeared in front of him in human form. “That damn brat, Iron Fang, has betrayed our sect. Don’t leave his corpse intact!”

”Yes, master!” They bowed, then went after him.

Iron Fang grinned and blocked the fangs of an illusory snake from biting his neck. As if realizing that this was the end, he pointed toward Master Lin. One of his Demonic Steel Wolves darted downward toward her.

Even as Dominant Restraint Master’s beasts began tearing his body apart, he grinned as if he’d won.

No! I took a step and intercepted the wolf. It jumped at , mouth open, fangs gleaming.

I flicked a poison pill made for Nascent Soul equivalent beasts down its throat, then backhanded it, sending it flying.

That would take care of it.

Unfortunately, between my movent technique and this last simple attack, I had fully depleted my energy. The only thing that kept standing in midair was my authority as an Immortal Bone Creation expert.

I glared at what was left of Iron Fang, a single arm. As if laughing at for forgetting that he was just a clone, the hand ford a black demonic spear. It shot downward impossibly fast with the final energy of a peak Nascent Soul expert. And it was aid at my in-na master.

I reached for it. The spear passed by my fingers. I hadn’t been able to stop it!

“Master Lin!”
