Luna Axton put down her book and picked up her phone from the nightstand.
It was a ssage from Blaze Fairchild.
"Are you asleep?"
Luna looked at the ti on her phone: 11:38 PM.
’Blaze can’t sleep either?’
Her slender fingers typed a reply: "Not yet."
Blaze couldn’t sleep either. He just wanted to talk to her, so he’d sent a ssage on a whim. To his surprise, she replied almost instantly.
His heart leaped. Lying on the cot in the hospital room, he ducked under the covers to reply to Luna.
Blaze: "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Luna: "No, I just finished a book."
She opened the book again, took a picture of the passage, and sent it to Blaze.
She followed it with a question: "Did you write this?"
Blaze sent back a three-word reply, "It was ," admitting the note was his.
Luna smiled, and her typing beca much quicker.
"It doesn’t look like your handwriting."
’It really was his handwriting.’
’She couldn’t imagine what state of mind he’d been in to have written that reflection, stroke by painstaking stroke.’
Blaze: "I went through a period of uncertainty in college and liked to read these kinds of books."
Luna bit her lip and carefully typed, "Was it because you liked soone then?"
Blaze: "No."
After his denial, he sent another ssage. "What’s your ideal type, Luna?"
’My ideal type?’
Blaze’s question stumped her.
’She didn’t know. She had never thought about what kind of boyfriend she might have one day, or what kind of person she would marry.’
During her school days, she and Lindsey did little else besides study, eat good food, binge-watch dramas, and occasionally play life-sim mobile gas.
She had more free ti after starting college, but then her mother got sick. Busy with part-ti jobs, she had no ti to think about such things.
"I’ve never thought about it," she answered honestly.
’Only after sending the ssage did Luna realize she was already married. What was the point of talking about ideal types now?’
’Even if she and Blaze divorced soday, she had Lucky. She couldn’t start a new family with soone else, couldn’t have more children.’
’She couldn’t bring herself to hold another child in her arms without thinking of Lucky.’
’So, if they did divorce, she probably wouldn’t ever remarry.’
Luna: "What about your ideal type? Have you found her?"
’She was curious. What kind of girl could capture the heart of soone as outstanding as Blaze?’
’Blaze was smart, tall, and handso. His every move exuded a noble, well-bred air. He was wealthy yet driven, and decisive when handling problems.’
’And how he treated people... he was so good to her and Grandpa Fairchild, and so ticulous when taking care of them.’
’Listing them all out, she belatedly realized that Blaze had quite a few good qualities.’
Blaze: "Go to sleep. Aren’t you going out with your friend tomorrow?"
Luna’s spirits fell. Blaze hadn’t answered her question.
Her high spirits plumted, and her typing slowed to a crawl.
"Okay. I won’t visit Grandpa at the hospital tomorrow. Please let him know for ."
’After she sent the ssage, Luna couldn’t help but wonder about Blaze’s ideal type. Had he found her, or was he still looking?’
Blaze: "Good night."
Luna wasn’t in the mood to type, so she found an animated "Good Night" sticker from her collection and sent it.
Under the covers, the light from his phone illuminated Blaze’s face.
A blissful smile spread across his handso face. He saved the sticker to his favorites.
The sticker showed a cute, simply-drawn girl blowing a kiss with both hands, sending out hearts. Beneath it was a line of small text: "Good night, mwah!"
’Good night, mwah.’
The smile on Blaze’s lips widened. He now truly understood the feeling of having butterflies in his stomach.
’He really wanted to hold Luna and kiss her.’
「The next day」
This was the day Luna and Joy Coleman had arranged to get together with the three teachers and explore Valoria.
They had set a ti but hadn’t decided on a place to et.
After breakfast, Luna called Joy Coleman while she was tidying up.
"Lindsey, are there any places Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman want to go?"
"You know Ms. Brooks. Her favorite thing to do is shop, shop, shop."
Lindsey had barely finished speaking when Ms. Brooks’s disgruntled voice cut in from the background.
"We’re about to spend our entire life savings to buy you a house, and you’re telling I can’t even buy a few things for myself?"
Joy Coleman laughed, begging for rcy. "Yes, yes, shop all you want, Your Highness! Just rember to work hard afterward and save up for my renovation fund."
The classes Ms. Brooks and Mr. Coleman taught would be starting their senior year in August. They would be busy preparing past exam questions for their students over the sumr, so this winter break was likely the only ti they had to spend with Lindsey.
Thus, their trip to Valoria was on a tight schedule with a heavy agenda.
The family of three had looked at a dozen apartnts in just one week.
In the end, they bit the bullet and settled on an apartnt.
Luna could feel the lively energy of the family of three over the phone. It had been a long ti since Lindsey had laughed so freely.
"So, should we go shopping first?" Luna asked.
"Okay. My company’s New Year gift package included a gift card for Summit Plaza. Let’s et at Entrance 1 of Summit Plaza."
"Sounds good," Luna readily agreed.
After hanging up, Luna sent a voice ssage to her mother with their itinerary so she would know how to dress.
’Summit Plaza... it used to be under Blaze’s na.’
’The last ti Grandpa Fairchild had her sign the share transfer agreent, Blaze had also given her a docunt to sign.’
’She hadn’t paid much attention at the ti. She figured since she was signing them together, it was probably sothing like the prenuptial agreent—preventing her from claiming any of Blaze’s assets—so she signed it without a second thought.’
’It was only after she signed that she heard Blaze say, "From now on, the profits from Summit Plaza will be your daily spending money."’
’And just like that, Summit Plaza beca hers.’
’She didn’t know the first thing about business, yet she was receiving a sum of money every month for doing nothing.’
’It felt great, of course, but deep down, she felt she didn’t deserve it.’
’She probably couldn’t spend all the money the Fairchild Family had given her even if she did nothing for the rest of her life.’
’Since they were going to a mall, it would be heated. She’d have to take off her coat, so she needed to pick a nice top to wear underneath.’
She put together an outfit and stood in front of the mirror to check her reflection.
Suddenly, she heard footsteps approaching and leaned out to look into the room.
It was Blaze. He was back.
"Are you back to take a shower?"
Blaze didn’t answer. His face was etched with exhaustion.
Luna’s brow furrowed, and a bad feeling crept over her. "Was Grandpa not doing well last night? Is that why you were up so late?"
