"Boss, are you done packing? I’m here to help."
An idea sparked in Rachel Quinn’s mind, and she imdiately shifted her target. "Shane Shaw, you’re just in ti. Diana has been terribly wronged. You have to stand up for her."
Shane Shaw’s mouth twitched. "What the hell does her being wronged have to do with ?"
"You’re Diana’s fiancé. Of course, it has to do with you."
"I never agreed to this marriage. I will absolutely not accept an arranged marriage," Shane Shaw said resolutely.
Rachel Quinn’s gaze shifted between him and Vivian Quinn. "Shane Shaw, you ignore your own fiancée and hang around Vivian all day. Do you have a crush on Vivian? Is that why you’re so an to Diana...?"
Her words hit a nerve. Diana Davenport, furious, raised her hand to slap Vivian Quinn, but Shane Shaw shoved her away. "What are you doing? You dare touch my boss? Just try it!"
Diana Davenport was so angry she started crying. "She’s a vixen who specializes in seducing other people’s fiancés! I’m going to kill her!"
Shane Shaw’s voice was firm and resonant. "Watch your mouth. I’m warning you, stop calling your fiancé. My dad is the one who wants to marry you, not . My stance is very clear: I would rather die than marry you."
A crowd had gathered outside the door, and so were even recording with their phones. Diana Davenport wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
She shot Vivian Quinn a vicious glare. "I will never let you get away with this!"
With that, she covered her mouth, crying, and ran off.
"Diana!" Rachel Quinn hurriedly chased after her.
With the noise finally gone, Vivian Quinn resud packing her things.
"Boss, I’m sorry. It’s all because of that Diana Davenport has always targeted you," Shane Shaw said, feeling helpless.
"It’s not entirely your fault. Rachel Quinn’s whispering in her ear is the main reason." Vivian Quinn turned to look at him. "This arranged marriage has been on the table for two years now, right? You still haven’t convinced your dad to call it off?"
"No, but I’ll keep trying. You’ve seen what Diana is like. I really can’t bring myself to like her."
Vivian Quinn nodded. Diana Davenport and Rachel Quinn were two of a kind; neither was good enough for a great guy like Shane Shaw.
That afternoon, Vivian Quinn completed the paperwork to transfer her major and moved to the dical departnt.
The students in the dical departnt were quite welcoming. Hugh York was very pleased and planned to treat Vivian Quinn and a few of his star students to dinner.
Vivian Quinn found it hard to refuse, so she went sowhere private to call Jett Sterling.
"Mr. Sterling, I have a gathering tonight, so I can’t co ho for dinner."
The man’s cool voice ca from the other end of the line. "Where are you eating? What ti does it end? I’ll pick you up."
"My advisor is treating us. I’m not sure. It’s not really sothing I can ask about."
"Got it."
anwhile, in the villa’s study, Jett Sterling put down his phone and continued watching the video on his iPad.
The video’s title was "Aethelgard University’s Trashy Howrecker Incident," and it showed the scene from the dorm that afternoon.
Although the faces in it were pixelated, Jett Sterling still recognized Vivian Quinn at a glance and understood the whole story from the video.
The handso man’s face was so dark it looked like it could drip water. His fingertips tapped intermittently on the desk as he said in a low voice, "Make this video disappear completely."
Easton Rivers bowed his head. "Yes, Master Sterling."
...
In the evening, Vivian Quinn found out from a group chat that the dinner party was at a high-end Western restaurant.
She couldn’t help but wonder. Professor York had always been frugal, so how could he bear to treat them to such an expensive restaurant?
Vivian Quinn didn’t overthink it, quickly gathered her things, and went to the restaurant.
When she arrived, she found only Ian Sterling sitting there nonchalantly, playing on his phone.
"Why is it you?" Ian Sterling frowned in disgust upon seeing Vivian Quinn. "Yates York said he took on a star student. Don’t tell it’s you?"
"It is."
She had almost forgotten that Ian Sterling was also in the dical departnt and was one of Professor York’s students. He was rumored to be a young genius, too.
Ian Sterling scoffed. "Is Yates York trying to be funny? He should pay more attention to a student’s image when he accepts them."
Vivian Quinn gave a faint smile. "I thought Sterling was a person of substance. I didn’t expect you to be so conventional."
"...What do you an? Are you saying I have no substance?"
Vivian Quinn sat down. "You could interpret it that way."
Ian Sterling instantly bristled. "Who told you to sit down? You’ve got so nerve! Get up!"
"Sterling, this dinner was arranged by Professor York. You don’t get to call the shots."
"Using Yates York to pressure , are you?" Ian Sterling squinted at her, then his expression suddenly shifted to one of mock realization. "Don’t tell you have a crush on , so you’re deliberately acting different to get my attention?"
"Tell , did you transfer to the dical departnt for , too?"
Vivian Quinn: "..."
"Sterling, I suggest you see a doctor about your narcissism. It should be classified as a psychological disorder."
"I have every right to be narcissistic. Besides, you can’t deny it. Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming. I haven’t even settled the score with you for what happened at noon."
"What happened at noon?"
"Did you think I couldn’t tell you were using a borrowed knife to kill soone at the restaurant at noon? There were so many people there, and you were smiling more happily than anyone."
Vivian Quinn: "..." ’Looks like this campus tyrant actually is a little smart.’
"So, on one hand, you used to take care of soone you hate, and on the other, you transferred to Yates York’s departnt, all with the goal of getting close to ."
Ian Sterling said arrogantly, "For Yates York’s sake, I’ll be straight with you. Stop wasting your efforts on . You could never climb high enough to reach ."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
She couldn’t be bothered to argue with this narcissist. Besides, she had just used him to teach Diana Davenport a lesson that afternoon, so she was prepared to forgive his narcissism for now.
The other two male students arrived soon after. Ian Sterling handed them the nu and said, "Order whatever you want. It’s my treat today."
Vivian Quinn took a sip of water. "What’s the rush? Professor York isn’t here yet."
Ian Sterling raised an eyebrow. "You think Yates York can afford this place? He had sothing to do and couldn’t make it, so I changed the location from a hot pot restaurant to here at the last minute."
Vivian Quinn’s eyes widened in understanding. "I see. In that case, I won’t be eating. Goodbye."
"Stop." Ian Sterling called out to her. "Yates York isn’t coming, but he specifically told to treat you well. If you leave like this, you’re deliberately making it so I can’t answer to him, aren’t you?"
"Or... are you playing hard to get?"
"..." Vivian Quinn thought for a mont before sitting back down. "Fine. I won’t make things difficult for Sterling. But I’ll be paying for my own al."
Ian Sterling’s lips curled. "Tsk, tsk. And you say you’re not deliberately acting different to get my attention? Go on, keep up the act."
Vivian Quinn: "..."
’I get it now,’ she thought. ’This guy is seriously sick in the head!’
They hadn’t even finished ordering when two uninvited guests suddenly arrived...
