Wendy Reeves was very pleased with Jett Sterling’s reaction. She sighed, "Jett, I also overheard their conversation. They looked down on you for being a cripple. And she married you with an ulterior motive, didn’t she? She’s clearly just using you! The two of them were being so flirty, and that guy even said sothing about wishing he’d known she was married sooner. Isn’t she blatantly cheating on you?"

"Son, that’s why I’m telling you this woman has terrible character. I will absolutely not allow her to stay by your side."

Just as Vivian Quinn was about to speak, she heard Jett Sterling say, "Mom, you’re mistaken."

"I saw it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. How could I possibly be mistaken?"

Jett Sterling turned to look at his mother. "Do you really think so punk who can’t compare to in any way could be my love rival?"

Vivian Quinn: "..."

Wendy Reeves: "..."

"Of course I don’t think that man can compare to you either, but Jett, there’s no accounting for taste. What if Vivian Quinn has simply taken a liking to him?"

The man gave a faint smile. "I am the main consort."

Wendy Reeves: "..."

"You’re mad! You’ve truly gone mad! What kind of spell has that woman put you under? Or... do you have so kind of fetish for ugliness, or for disabled people?"

Jett Sterling’s brow furrowed. "Mom, the ssage I had Easton Rivers pass on to you was crystal clear. Vivian and I are not separating."

At a loss, Wendy Reeves blurted out, "But you were clearly angry just now! Why are you putting up with it? Jett, this isn’t like you..."

"I don’t deny that I was angry. But I trust Vivian. She has principles and integrity; she won’t betray . So from now on, stop with these baseless accusations. If there’s nothing else, go on an overseas shopping trip."

Wendy Reeves: "..."

"I’m not leaving! How can I leave when you’re giving so much to worry about? I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying right here in Aethelgard to keep an eye on you!"

"It seems this al isn’t going to happen today. In that case, we’ll head back," Jett Sterling said coolly. "You should calm down. Perhaps you’ll get your appetite back then. Vivian, let’s go."

"Oh." Vivian Quinn stood up and pushed Jett Sterling’s wheelchair to leave.

Once they were in the car, Vivian Quinn finally spoke. "Jett Sterling, are you angry?"

"What do you think?" the man retorted.

Feeling guilty, Vivian Quinn said, "I’ve already spoken to Shane Shaw. I told him we need to be more mindful of boundaries in the future. I’m a married woman, after all. Please don’t be angry, okay?"

Jett Sterling suddenly turned, gripping her shoulders. His dark, deep eyes locked onto hers. "Vivian, I don’t want you to think I’m an overly possessive person. I’m afraid of scaring you. But I won’t lie to you. The fact is, I am."

"My possessiveness over you is stronger than you think—stronger than even I realized. I want to tie you to my side and watch you 24/7. Do you understand?"

"Not really..." Vivian Quinn blinked. "I feel like if two people are together all the ti, they’d get sick of each other, wouldn’t they? That’s why personal space is important. We should each have our own space to get along better."

"I know. That’s why I didn’t object to you going to school. But I still feel a sense of loss and can’t bear to be apart from you."

Seeing his aggrieved expression, Vivian Quinn couldn’t help but laugh. "Jett Sterling, you’re actually really adorable."

The man’s face darkened. "What kind of strange adjective is that?"

"You really are adorable!" Vivian Quinn said with a brilliant smile, reaching out to pinch his cheek. "I can see you’re making a concession for . I’m a senior this year, which ans I should already be doing an internship. So going to classes is optional; my schedule is flexible."

"While I can’t promise I’ll be with you 24/7, I know your current condition ans you need . I’ll definitely make sure I can rush back to your side at a mont’s notice."

"Okay." Jett Sterling hugged her. "Vivian, thank you."

Vivian Quinn leaned into his embrace and said softly, "You really were angry just now, weren’t you?"

"I was," the man admitted readily. "But like I said, I am the main consort."

Vivian Quinn burst into laughter. "Mr. Sterling, you’ve been watching too many costu dramas, haven’t you?"

"I’m stating a fact."

"Yes, yes, of course. You’re my legal husband, so naturally, you’re the main consort." Vivian Quinn rubbed her stomach. "I’m starving."

"I’ve already had the staff at ho prepare dinner. We can eat as soon as we arrive."

"Mm."

"However..." The man lifted her face, his gaze deepening as he lowered his voice. "Before we do that, shouldn’t you let eat first?"

Vivian Quinn was a little baffled. "...What do you an? What do you want to eat? We can have the driver go buy it for you."

The man let out a low chuckle and suddenly kissed her on the lips.

Vivian Quinn: "..."

’It took her a mont to realize. So *this* is what he ant?’

’This man is the definition of a wolf in sheep’s clothing!’

The atmosphere in the car grew increasingly steamy. The driver in the front seat blushed and hastily raised the privacy partition.

...

The next morning, Jett Sterling took Vivian Quinn to school.

Her days at school were quite fulfilling. With her leg injury preventing her from dancing, Vivian Quinn was excused from all her dance classes and audited courses in the dical departnt instead.

Today’s lecture was on neurology, so she went early to get a good seat.

’Jett Sterling was in so much pain when his condition flared up. I have to find a way to reduce the frequency of his episodes as soon as possible.’

When the morning’s classes were over, Vivian Quinn stretched her neck, packed her things, and prepared to go get lunch.

"Vivian Quinn," the course instructor, Hugh York, called out to her. "When will your leg be fully healed?"

"It’s being treated."

Hugh York pushed up his glasses and smiled. "My point is, if it’s not going to heal quickly, you might as well transfer to our dical departnt. You’re a promising student, and it would be a sha for to lose you."

Vivian Quinn chuckled. "Professor York, you said the sa thing two years ago."

"Exactly. I’ve been inviting you for two years now. Are you still not planning on joining us?"

"Besides, I saw you were listening very intently in class today. Are you interested in the subject?"

"Yes. A friend of mine has a brain condition, and I want to try and study his illness to see if I can help him."

"Then you have all the more reason to transfer. I’ve just brought back a brilliant neurologist from overseas—he’s a forr student of mine. If you join, you’ll be his junior, and I’m sure he’ll do everything in his power to help you."

"Professor York, that’s too big of a temptation to resist," Vivian Quinn said with a bright smile. "Alright, I accept."

"Really?"

"Of course."

She had already decided to transfer before the sester even began. The reasons were simple: first, she couldn’t dance for the ti being because of her leg; second, the dance departnt was just too toxic. Not only did she have to deal with Diana Davenport, who targeted her at every opportunity, but Rachel Quinn was also in her class. The two of them were good friends, and Vivian was sick of seeing their faces.

Hugh York was delighted. With a new spring in his step, he hurried off to handle the paperwork for Vivian Quinn’s transfer.

Rachel Quinn soon heard about Vivian Quinn’s transfer. She rushed frantically to the cafeteria and found Vivian eating lunch.

"Vivian, how could you transfer? If you stay in the dance departnt, I can look after you."

Vivian Quinn glanced up at her coolly. "Did you not understand what I said to you yesterday? Do you have to keep getting in my face?"

"Vivian, I’m just doing this for your own good," Rachel Quinn said in a heartfelt tone. "In your current state, you’ll only be despised in other departnts. Why put yourself through the trouble?"

Vivian Quinn tilted her head. "Let guess why you’re so reluctant to see go. First, if I’m right under your nose, it’s more convenient for you to monitor my every move."

"Second, you’re the white swan, and I’m the ugly duckling. As long as I’m standing next to you, I’ll always be there to make you look better by comparison. A clever little sche, Rachel Quinn."

Rachel Quinn’s face went pale. She feigned indignation and said, "Vivian, you’re too quick to judge a noble person by your own petty standards."

"Fine. I’m the petty one, and you’re the noble one. So please, do a favor and stay away from . Don’t ruin my appetite."

Thoroughly rebuffed, Rachel Quinn walked away resentfully.

"Rachel, did Vivian Quinn make you angry again?" Diana Davenport ca over, filled with righteous indignation. "She’s gone too far!"

Rachel Quinn put on a wronged and forbearing expression. "Forget it. I’m already used to her treating this way..."

"That won’t do." A vicious glint flashed in Diana Davenport’s eyes. "Just wait. I’ll go get revenge for you right now!"
