"Okay, this is serious," Xianghong grew solemn at the thought of Jing Yao’s disabling leg and her granddaughter’s unwavering devotion to him, feeling uneasy at heart.
Thus, as parents and elders, they certainly hoped their children would find a good match—not only character matters, but health is just as crucial.
After dinner, Xia Xiao left the kids with Guoqiang and let Feiteng drive her and Xianghong to the hospital, naturally taking the two als with them.
It was just five in the afternoon, and Spirit had been in the hospital room with Jing Yao all along. Jing Hao ca by once, but didn’t enter; he stood at the door for a while and then left again.
When Xia Xiao and the others arrived, Spirit, who opened the door, was surprised, "Grandma, mom, little brother, why did you all co?"
Feiteng glared at Spirit—it was all because he was worried about her. Such a big issue and she didn’t inform the family; what if Jing Hao was plotting against her and she didn’t even bring a bodyguard when she left.
Spirit chuckled sheepishly, avoiding Feiteng’s gaze, and quickly said, "Mom, you even brought food; that’s so kind of you."
"Grandma, Auntie, little brother," Jing Yao greeted Xianghong, Xia Xiao, and Feiteng, not expecting them to visit.
Xia Xiao said to Jing Yao, "Spirit’s grandma knows so dicine, why don’t you let her check?"
Jing Yao hurriedly thanked her and then allowed Xianghong to check his leg, knowing that if he refused, the Gao Family would take Spirit away imdiately and prevent any future encounters between them.
So at this mont, Jing Yao felt no aversion, but instead was very cooperative.
Xianghong massaged his acupoints and then applied needles, asking Jing Yao if he felt anything.
"It feels like there’s a sensation, but also like there isn’t," Jing Yao felt sowhat discouraged, thinking if his leg was incurable, would it an there was no hope with Spirit? He regretted not going abroad for treatnt earlier; that way, the Gao Family wouldn’t have seen him like this.
After a while, Xianghong withdrew the needles and said, "The situation is quite good, but healing a leg issue doesn’t happen in a year or a half, you still need to do proper rehabilitation."
Hearing this, Jing Yao sowhat relieved, Spirit said, "Grandma, he’s undergone surgery, should he go abroad for treatnt now?"
Xianghong said, "We could look for a senior orthopedic surgeon abroad. After all, dical science is vast and profound—there are experts out there."
Xia Xiao added, "There’s no rush to go abroad. First, find out about international authoritative orthopedic specialists. If we can invite one here, we don’t need to go abroad; if not, then going abroad is also an option."
When Xia Xiao said this, everyone nodded in agreent.
After sitting for a while, Xia Xiao, Xianghong, and Feiteng left—they had several kids at ho so they couldn’t stay long.
They left the two als there—it was almost six o’clock by then, and Spirit opened the al boxes, imdiately filling the room with the aroma of food.
"Try it, my mom’s cooking is great, especially the soup; she’s really good at making soup," Spirit first handed the now barely warm soup to Jing Yao.
Maybe it was from being in the hospital for so long, or maybe from usually eating bland als alone, so at this mont, enjoying the delicious soup and having Spirit sharing a al with him made Jing Yao’s appetite very hearty.
Jing Hao showed up at this point, carrying two als, and seeing Spirit and Jing Yao eating, he said with a smile, "Geez, I was worried you two might be hungry, I had Aunt Xia pack these for you, but it seems you have already found sothing to eat."
"Brother, join us," Jing Yao said.
Spirit nodded, and Jing Hao set down his own packed als, looking at Spirit and Jing Yao’s food and comnting, "Which restaurant is this from? It looks quite appetizing."
Jing Yao smiled slightly, "Aunt Xia’s cooking—Feiteng brought grandma and Aunt Xia here, they just left."
Jing Hao looked at Jing Yao’s smiling face and nodded, sowhat surprised that the Gao Family had co around.
Seeing Jing Yao like this, Jing Hao sowhat regretted not having Spirit co over earlier, so his brother wouldn’t have been so gloomy all the ti.
"At night, Spirit was sent back to the Gao family by Jing Hao. When they reached the door, Jing Hao left and didn’t co in."
Once Spirit arrived ho, her family naturally asked about Jing Yao’s situation, and only then did Spirit explain details to her family.
"Have you made up your mind about him?" Xia Xiao asked.
"Mom, I can’t let him go, I want to follow my heart," Spirit confessed.
Feiteng said in a sour tone, "Don’t decide so quickly, don’t commit to soone so quickly; what if you regret it later when it turns out to be unsuitable?"
"I won’t," Spirit responded.
"What’s the Jing Family’s attitude?" Feiteng asked.
Spirit paused and then expressed, "Their family hasn’t said anything."
"Now that Jing Yao is like this, what can his family say? Once Jing Yao gets better, who knows, they might show a different face," Feiteng huffed.
"If that happens, I won’t regret it. Right now, I just want to be with him," Spirit said, "Just let be willful one more ti."
Zheng Xianghong and Xia Xiao exchanged glances and didn’t say anything further.
On Jing Yao’s side, as soon as Spirit left, he started to miss her. Seeing Jing Hao return, he asked, "Brother, did you safely take Spirit ho?"
Jing Hao couldn’t help but give him an annoyed look, "Don’t you trust my work yet?"
Jing Yao said, "You’re back already, and she hasn’t called yet."
At this mont, Jing Yao was sowhat anxious and insecure. Jing Hao simply placed a stack of docunts in front of him, "Since you’re idle, take care of your company."
Jing Yao then started to seriously review the docunts and monthly reports of Tianyu International. Jing Hao didn’t leave but lay on another bed.
The next morning, Spirit got up early. Zheng Xianghong and Gao Guoqiang had already bought large bones from the market and were boiling them into a soup.
After Xia Xiao added spring water, Spirit hurriedly ate so breakfast, changed her clothes, and, with a packed lunchbox, drove to the hospital.
The Jing brothers had just gotten up and finished washing up. Spirit brought breakfast over. Jing Yao, after a good night’s sleep, was very happy to see Spirit, and Jing Hao was ready to leave.
Spirit set the breakfast in front of Jing Yao and said to Jing Hao, "I packed a bit much, have so before you go."
Jing Hao looked at Spirit and said, "Is it so hard to call elder brother or Brother Jing?"
"Brother Jing," Spirit called dutifully, but not with the sa intimacy as Jing Yao when ntioning her family, given the Jing Family’s attitude, Spirit wasn’t keen on getting closer without reason.
Jing Hao knew of Spirit’s reservations toward the Jing Family but didn’t say anything; however, he inwardly acknowledged Spirit as his future sister-in-law.
After all, Spirit ca from a decent background, and despite his brother’s condition, her earnest care was enough.
