Black Shield Police Departnt.

Carn and Er Xiao were roused early in the morning and made to wait in this room.

"Boss?"

Er Xiao finally couldn't hold back and spoke up, only to see Carn give him a slight shake of his head.

Right then, a clear sound of footsteps ca from outside the door.

The door was pushed open, and Commander Lao Ke walked in. He waved at Carn and the other man, saying, "You two, co with !"

The three of them arrived at Chief Hogg's office.

Carn noticed that besides Chief Hogg, there was actually another person in the room.

A woman.

She was completely wrapped in a black robe, with a black lace veil covering her face.

Seeing Carn and the other man enter, she cast a scrutinizing glance their way.

Chief Hogg also turned to look at the woman.

"Lady Zoe, they are the ones who brought back Loris's remains. You may question them directly."

After speaking, he gave Lao Ke a aningful look.

Lao Ke understood imdiately.

"Carn, Lady Zoe represents Master Miller. Whatever Lady Zoe asks you later, describe it exactly as it happened."

Although it was the first ti he had heard the na Miller, Carn instantly realized this was the important figure behind Loris, here to investigate the truth of Loris's death.

He also imdiately understood that the struggle for power within the Black Shield Police Departnt had begun!

"Yes, sir!" He looked at Mona.

"Lady Zoe, I am Enforcer Carn. It is a pleasure to et you."

"Enforcer Carn, I heard it was you who brought back Loris's remains, correct?"

"Could you then describe in detail the circumstances of what happened at the ti?"

"Of course!" Carn adopted a thoughtful expression and began his account.

"First, the ard armored vehicle Commander Loris was riding in was attacked by a tank from the Thug Prison..."

In the room, only Carn's voice remained, narrating, while everyone else wore expressions of listening and contemplation.

After a long while, as Carn's voice stopped, Mona gave a slight nod.

"So, you an you sensed sothing was wrong, and by the ti you arrived, you discovered Loris was already missing. You followed the trail, and when you finally caught up, only a charred corpse remained."

"Correct. It was only through the fallen armband nearby that we confird it was Commander Loris."

Hearing this, Mona fell into thought.

Commander Lao Ke spoke up.

"Lady Zoe, we have also verified it. That is indeed Loris's body. The remains are still in the body bag..."

"Alright. I need to take the remains back. Then I'll trouble you, Chief Hogg."

As she spoke, she stood up and followed Lao Ke out.

Only after the two figures disappeared did Hogg turn his gaze to Carn, giving a slight nod.

"I've heard from Lao Ke about your matter. You handled this well. Rember, no matter who asks, stick to this story!"

Carn's expression turned solemn. He stood at attention and looked at Hogg.

"Chief, every word your subordinate just recounted is the absolute truth, verified beyond doubt."

Hearing this, a faint curve lifted the corner of Hogg's mouth.

"Alright, dismissed! Lao Ke will arrange things for you later."

"Yes, Chief!"

Watching Carn and Er Xiao leave, the smile on Hogg's face slowly faded. A trace of gloom and contemplation appeared in his eyes.

"Green Robe has just died, and Master Miller can't wait. Fortunately, Loris's death has also disrupted his rhythm. Should I... pledge allegiance to him?"

"My attitude just now, Zoe should be able to discern my intention. Now it depends on her and Master Miller's thoughts!"

Mona, carrying Loris's remains, returned to Johnck Zoo.

Missionary Miller was already waiting for her in the Human Live Experints Laboratory.

At this mont, in the Human Live Experints Laboratory, dozens of working technicians were calibrating equipnt and recovering data.

"Teacher!"

Mona arrived behind Miller and called out softly.

"You're back. What about Loris's situation?"

Missionary Miller turned to look at his most accomplished student, as if gazing upon a perfect work of art.

"I have retrieved Loris's remains. A spirituality detection can be perford at any ti."

"What is your view on Loris's death?"

"My view..." Mona showed a pensive expression.

"I believe it is highly likely that Hogg was the one who did it..."

"Explain."

"Teacher, normally, battle command has always been Lao Ke's responsibility. What Loris was previously in charge of was interrogation and camp defense. For such an important battle this ti, to have Loris take the field is clearly illogical!"

"More importantly, Loris was injected with the Salamander Genetic Modification Serum. His regenerative ability was sufficient for him to survive in the vast majority of environnts. But Loris's remains show he was killed by being burned with fuel, and all four limbs were severed. If the goal was simply to kill him, why go to such elaborate lengths? There's only one possibility..."

"That is, the enemy knew ordinary thods couldn't kill Loris. Only this thod could utterly destroy him... And Hogg undoubtedly has the greatest suspicion, because behind him there is..."

Mona didn't finish, but Miller already knew her aning.

Hogg previously had Green Robe standing behind him. Only Green Robe would have the potential to understand the flaw of the Salamander Genetic Modification Serum.

Miller revealed a satisfied smile.

"Good. Your analysis is very thorough!"

"However, Hogg's posture this ti was set very low. He seems to have the idea of leaning toward you, Teacher."

Miller showed a playful smile.

"Him? Interesting. I will consider this matter."

Seeing this, Mona said no more.

"Then, Teacher, do we still need to test Loris's remains?"

"No need! There's no need to waste resources on a failure. However, because of Loris's death, my arrangents within the Black Shield Police Departnt have been disrupted. I will think of other thods later."

"As for you..."

"We found a pool of blood near the underground server room passage. It has been confird to be Lilith's blood. It's very likely she has been killed."

"Now that our strength is exposed, we have undoubtedly beco a key focus for other factions in Green Forest City. Although we have temporarily deterred them, the Thug Prison and others will not give up so easily."

A flash of viciousness crossed Missionary Miller's face.

"In the coming period, the entire eastern city district will inevitably beco a battlefield, extrely dangerous, but it is also an opportunity for us."

"Teacher, what do you an?"

"With Lilith dead, I plan for you to take over Nightingale. Train those won and n into assassins, just like when you killed those scavengers. Afterwards, I want them dispersed throughout the entire eastern city, becoming ubiquitous ears and sharp blades."

"This, I believe only you can accomplish!"

Miller's gaze at Mona shone with absolute trust.

"I want to conduct an endless ceremony in the eastern city..."
