Leaving Xiang Linghao, Gu Yan walked through the hospital corridor, intending to check on Gu’s father.
Due to work, she hadn’t visited in the past few days and didn’t know how he was recovering.
Holding her injured hand, she hesitated for a mont, then followed behind Tang Yuxiu, speaking softly, "Tang Yuxiu, there’s sothing I want to ask your permission for."
Tang Yuxiu stopped and looked back at her, "What is it?"
Gu Yan bit her lip, sowhat reluctant to speak.
Tang Yuxiu never believed her father was hospitalized, thinking she was that kind of woman. If she ntioned it now, would it anger him again?
Here in the hospital, she was really afraid he might do sothing bad, which would harm not only herself but also his reputation.
After hesitating for a long ti, she gently shook her head, "Never mind, it’s nothing."
She decided to seize a better opportunity later; there was no need to take this risk in front of him.
Tang Yuxiu saw her hesitation and worry, "What is it exactly? Just say it now, I don’t like beating around the bush or dragging things out."
He was plainly urging Gu Yan to speak her mind instead of hiding it.
Gu Yan frowned, still torn.
Suddenly, she ca up with an idea, moved forward, and pulled Tang Yuxiu’s hand, "I want to see soone, co with ."
It was still before nine in the evening; the light in Gu’s father’s ward was still on. Gu’s father had gone to rest early, and Mrs. Gu hadn’t slept yet.
Gu Yan and Tang Yuxiu stopped outside the ward, Gu Yan said to him, "My father is inside. I haven’t seen him in days, so since I’m here, I want to take a look."
Tang Yuxiu looked down at Gu Yan. Her face was cautious, fearing he still wouldn’t believe her and might do sothing.
Tang Yuxiu’s heart twinged. He already knew the truth: he had misunderstood her, yet she still worried he might get angry.
"Go in, I’ll wait here for you," he said calmly.
Gu Yan’s eyes lit up, "You believe ?"
Tang Yuxiu turned away, "Let’s leave once you’re done."
Gu Yan smiled brightly, he really believed her now.
"Okay, I won’t take too long."
Gu Yan entered the ward, Tang Yuxiu didn’t turn back, but stood straight, a faint sense of guilt passing through him.
Mrs. Gu was originally sitting on another empty bed watching TV, the volu turned low because Gu’s father was sleeping, so only a faint sound could be heard upon entering the room.
Seeing Gu Yan co in, she was startled at first, then imdiately pulled a face, her tone unpleasant, "What are you doing here at this late hour."
Gu Yan looked at the sleeping Gu’s father, answering in a low voice, "I’m here to see Dad."
"Hmph, after days without a trace, what’s the point of coming now?" she said disapprovingly, glancing at Gu Yan’s empty hands, further displeased, "Didn’t even bring anything, such an ungrateful child."
Gu Yan frowned slightly, she was just dropping by this ti, so she wasn’t prepared, not bringing anything was normal. Besides, the things she bought last ti were still there today; Gu’s father probably hadn’t eaten much, and Mrs. Gu had leisurely finished it herself. How could she ask her to buy more?
"I ca in a hurry this ti, so I wasn’t prepared. I will ask the doctor what Dad needs more of to recuperate, and I’ll bring more next ti."
The implication was that what she bought was for Gu’s father, not for Mrs. Gu.
