Chapter 80: Fighting for Glory

The Earthfire Sect's challengers this ti were a uniform group of old n with one foot already in the grave.

Was the Earthfire Sect's younger generation truly devoid of talent? Of course not. They were here, intending to give their final contribution to the sect.

So, as soon as the elder stepped onto the stage, he put all his effort into fighting Song Changsheng, even going so far as to burn his vital energy and self-detonate his artifact. If Song Changsheng were a novice, he might truly have been intimidated by this fearless montum.

Unfortunately, Song Changsheng had experienced many fierce battles since he started cultivating and remained completely unfazed. In less than twenty exchanges, he slew the elder, marking the first death in this arena battle.

The animosity between Song Changsheng and the Earthfire Sect was already irreconcilable, so he didn't mind accumulating a few more lives on his hands.

Looking at the elder, whose head was separated from his body, Qu Jinsheng's expression remained unchanged. After ordering the body to be collected, he imdiately sent out a second person, determined not to give Song Changsheng a chance to rest and recover.

The Earthfire Sect had brought five people this ti, each of them over ninety years old. They were experienced, ruthless in their attacks, and fearless of death. After four consecutive challengers, even with Song Changsheng's abundant spiritual energy, he was starting to feel a bit drained.

However, the results were also impressive. He had slain four cultivators at the peak of Qi Refinent, which was not sothing the Earthfire Sect could easily abandon.

Nonetheless, if they could use this to kill Song Changsheng, Qu Jinsheng felt it would all be worth it, because he was too strong. His talent made people fear, fear that he might be the next Song Xianming, or even the next Song Taiyi!

“Senior Brother, it all cos down to you now,” Qu Jinsheng said, his tone grim, to the last elder behind him.

“I will surely not fail the Sect Master’s heavy trust. Sacrificing this old body of mine to eliminate a great nace to the sect, there is no more worthwhile transaction in the world,” the elder nodded solemnly, then walked onto the arena without looking back. His gaunt fra at this mont was as mighty as a mountain.

Song Changsheng's expression was solemn as he scrutinized his final opponent. His hair and beard were white, he was frail with age, and his entire body exuded the aura of death. This man was at least one hundred and ten years old, nearing the limit of a Qi Refinent cultivator's lifespan.

He took a deep breath, narrowing his eyes. He knew that the Earthfire Sect's true killing move prepared for him was about to arrive.

The elder's movents were slow, but he walked steadily. With each step forward, his aura grew stronger, and his hunched body gradually straightened.

With his final step, the aura within him had climbed to its peak, surpassing anyone who had previously ascended the stage.

Song Changsheng couldn't help but be moved. He said with a hint of pity, “Why must you sacrifice your life for that dissolute young master, Chang Tianhua?”

The elder shook his head faintly. “I am not here for the Young Sect Master. Though he is the Sect Master’s son, in my eyes, he is rely an ordinary disciple.

I am here for the centuries of glory of my Earthfire Sect. I fight for the glory in my heart!”

As the word “fight” left his mouth, the elder lunged at Song Changsheng like an arrow released from a bowstring. He wielded a large ring-hilted broadsword, each move incredibly fierce.

Song Changsheng took a deep breath and engaged him in battle. The fight entered a white-hot stage almost imdiately.

Although the elder had sohow used a secret art to greatly enhance his strength, a false boost was still false. In less than twenty exchanges, he gradually began to show signs of decline.

Just as he was about to be defeated, Song Changsheng keenly noticed sothing clutched in his hand.

"That must be the trump card he prepared, right?"

Thinking this, Song Changsheng imdiately beca fully alert and accelerated his offensive, giving the elder no opportunity to use it.

The elder struggled to defend, looking extrely anxious but helpless. Finally, in a mont of carelessness, he was struck on the head by Song Changsheng's treasure gourd. His aura completely dispersed, and he crashed to the ground.

After falling, the item he had been clutching in his hand slipped out. Song Changsheng looked closely and found it was a tal sphere.

“It’s actually a Thunder Bead.” Song Changsheng recognized the tal sphere, and a wave of lingering fear washed over him. Thunder Beads were single-use consumables with imnse power.

Though this one was only a first-rank Thunder Bead, a close-range explosion would still have left even him severely injured, if not dead.

He breathed a sigh of relief, preparing to pick up the Thunder Bead from the ground.

Just then, a sudden change occurred!

A red light suddenly burst from the elder’s heart, striking directly at Song Changsheng’s head.

An alarm blared in Song Changsheng’s mind. As he quickly retreated, he cast one defensive spell after another in front of him. Still not feeling safe enough, he summoned the Water Elent Shield to protect himself.

The red light arrived in the blink of an eye. Song Changsheng’s defensive spells were as vulnerable as tender tofu before it. Several layers of defense instantly crumbled, and it heavily slamd into the Water Elent Shield.

“Crack!”

The crisp sound made Song Changsheng feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.

The next mont, the Water Elent Shield, a top first-rank magical tool refined from Gui Water Essence, was shattered by the red light, transforming into countless fragnts.

The red light’s montum remained unchecked, striking directly at Song Changsheng, exploding with a roar less than a zhang away from him.

“Boom, boom, boom!”

An earth-shattering roar accompanied by rolling waves of energy. The stone arena collapsed with a crash, raising clouds of smoke and dust. The cultivators closest to the arena had to activate their spells to withstand the aftermath of the explosion.

“Changsheng!”

Song Luzhou’s eyes were bloodshot, his heart filled with remorse. That elder had disguised himself too well. Everyone had thought his trump card was the Thunder Bead, but no one had expected the true killing blow to be launched after his death, when everyone's guard was lowest.

“Hahaha, that brat is finally dead!” Qu Jinsheng laughed wildly, his face full of glee. The humiliation Song Changsheng's mother had once inflicted upon him was finally repaid at this mont.

Everyone present was in an uproar. No one had expected such an outco in the end. The Earthfire Sect was truly too devious.

Just when everyone thought Song Changsheng had t with misfortune, streaks of light pierced through the smoke and dust generated by the explosion.

Everyone's gaze was imdiately drawn to it.

The smoke and dust gradually dissipated. In the ruins of the arena, Song Changsheng sat cross-legged on a pitch-black lotus platform, his hands pressed together. A black-and-white Tai Chi diagram slowly rotated before him, emitting a hazy glow.

Although Song Changsheng’s face was sowhat pale, his aura was very stable. He had survived!

Song Luzhou was overjoyed. The audience, however, was dumbfounded. He didn't even die from that? This Song Changsheng was truly difficult to kill.

Qu Jinsheng's laughter abruptly ceased, as if soone had suddenly choked him. He looked at the perfectly unhard Song Changsheng, his expression as if he had seen a ghost.

“This… How is this possible? That was a technique the Sect Master left behind, at the cost of his lifespan! It still couldn't harm him?!” Qu Jinsheng’s face was contorted, his eyes filled with venom.

Song Changsheng opened his eyes, slowly stood up, and said with a strong voice, “Song Changsheng is here! Please, enlighten !”
