Sebastian, who had seen the news, had tried calling Noah a dozen tis but he hadn’t been able to make international calls.
It was only at this ti, very early into the new day, that he could get through to him.
"Sir, I saw what happened," Sebastian said. He even saw them on the news, close to the police so of course their child was also involved in the ss. "Is everyone alright?"
"Yes, we’re fine now," Noah said. "But the kids aren’t waking up."
"By ’kids’ do you an...?"
"Olivia and Josh." He said. "Steven’s son. They were both caught up in the ss."
"That’s very unfortunate," Sebastian said. "I presu they are out of danger and taking treatnt right now."
"Yes, well..." His voice sounded low and filled with guilt. "They were hurt pretty badly."
Sebastian heard the lingering guilt in his voice and felt things were way worse than he could imagine.
For the children not to have woken up till the mont.
Maybe it was due to the ti. It was late so they didn’t need to wake up now, but still...
"I’ll pray for their speedy recovery, sir," Sebastian said and then Noah cut the call.
Sebastian was a bit at a loss for words, for sothing like this to happen to a family that has just reunited. Why such a tragedy?
He sighed, exhausted at hearing the news alone. But if he was like this, he couldn’t even imagine how Noah and Michael would be. And then there was Steven, rumored to love his son to bits. Just how was he holding up?
"This is quite unfortunate." He mumbled.
The night passed with no sign of Olivia stirring. Josh, too, remained unconscious, his small face paler than usual.
Michael could not sleep. Not that he didn’t want to, but the sleep was not forthcoming. He wasn’t tired. Maybe it was the desperation to finally see Olivia awake that kept him up but he couldn’t do anything.
Noah tried to persuade him to sleep but he shook his head, saying he couldn’t fall asleep.
Noah couldn’t sleep either, but he wished Michael wouldn’t overdo it and at least catch so sleep.
Steven was the sa. He watched his son with his eyes open, as if a demon would suddenly co for Josh if he dared to close his eyes for a minute.
And without realizing it, while they all stayed up, watching their children.
Every hour felt like a day was passing by. It was torturous and even more so when they couldn’t fall asleep.
Then, dawn ca.
Michael had dark eye bags around his eyes. He looked exhausted. Compared to the other two who had superior genes and could afford to stay up nights without feeling exhausted, he was weak.
And the sight of it bothered Noah.
"Try to get a little sleep." He whispered to him. "It won’t do you any good if you break down while out baby girl isn’t well."
Michael’s eyes twitched. Whether he liked it or not, he needed to sleep to regain strength.
"You don’t have to worry. I’ll look over Liv and I’ll wake you up as soon as she wakes up." He assured her. "So please, get so rest."
The worry in his eye, his tone, and the way his lips quivered even when he tried to make sure they didn’t made Michael feel like he was adding to Noah’s worries.
"Okay." He nodded.
The stress wasn’t good for his blood anyway. And with Noah there, nothing would harm Olivia.
And yet... The fact that Olivia hadn’t woken up yet couldn’t put his heart at ease.
Then, the door opened and Roland walked in.
He had a basket of fruits, a few chocolate bars, and so biscuits.
"Where’s Alyssa?" Michael asked and Roland gave a brief pause, very brief that they didn’t notice any anomaly in his action.
"She’s sleeping." He finally answered. Since they were both out on the lookout, Alyssa felt pretty beat.
You could say she was emotionally exhausted and just wanted to let loose, so Roland convinced her to close her eyes and sleep, which she did.
He wrapped his coat around her as she slept and watched her. His eyes never left her face for a second.
When she cried out in relief and worry, he watched her with a puzzling feeling in his heart.
He was confused.
And now again, as she slept in his arms, he couldn’t help but stare at her face with sa ol puzzling feelings.
It was as if there was a question written in her face that he was trying so hard to find the answer to.
And before he knew it, he was leaning closer, as if that would give him the answer he was searching for and his lips touched her forehead.
This wasn’t the first ti he had kissed a part of her face. He did it a lot back in the house, especially when she suddenly started being annoying and he wanted to calm her down.
A kiss on the forehead would make her flush and forget what she was arguing about in no ti.
He felt it was such a simple thod and often utilized it, not knowing the sort of thoughts he was planting in the innocent warrior girl’s mind.
And he, too, didn’t know that those little actions of his that he paid no heed to, were gradually accumulating in his chest, in his heart, and forming sothing he never would’ve thought of in his wildest imagination.
And those little actions were slowly breeding hidden desires unknowingly to him.
His eyes rolled down to her lips and how they were firmly pressed together, wondering if it would be alright, or if it could be considered the sa as every other ti.
And then he did it. His lips brush against hers. They felt dry, probably because she had cried a lot, as if it were her own child that had been beaten nearly to death but he could understand her. Since they very much raised the child together with Michael.
Subconsciously, Roland stuck out his tongue in an attempt to wet her dry lips and sucked on her lower lip.
He didn’t know what he was doing, honestly. He didn’t know why he was going this far but even if he knew this was already crossing the line, he couldn’t bring himself to stop.
Not yet.
Her lips... After claiming them, what would he claim next?
As soon as he had these thoughts, he furrowed his eyebrows and moved away, frowning at his own actions and thoughts.
How could he take advantage of soone who was exhausted?
"Ah," he exclaid, his hand over his mouth as this situation struck him as weird. But he didn’t want to take all the bla. He looked at her and muttered. "You’re so unguarded. You have no idea that soone is kissing you so deeply, huh."
He held her tight and then let go.
The sun was already rising. They originally needed to go pick up so things for Michael and the others but he decided to go on his own and let Alyssa sleep for as long as she wanted.
As he stood up and walked away, his slow and light feet descending into the hallway, Alyssa flinched.
She moved after his presence disappeared and her face gradually went red.
They were so red that she could be mistaken for a bit round tomato.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and looked in the direction he walked, her hand gently touching the lips he had kissed.
"Just what are you thinking, Roland?"
She was originally asleep, but as a skilled warrior, of course, she would know when soone was touching her body.
She woke up the mont Roland kissed her forehead. It felt normal, like he usually did but the ti of this action was a bit weird.
Still, she wanted to brush it off, only to feel him drawing close till his lips t hers.
At that mont, she almost gave away the fact that she was awake. Her body nearly twitched but she had learned how to stay still in tis of ergency.
Using what she learned for combat to avoid arousing suspicion from her love interest... What a warrior she was.
But it looked like she managed to fool him. He would stop there, right?
But he didn’t. He licked her lips and then kissed her again, sucking her lips as if they were coated in milk and honey.
Her heart was racing but she managed to calm it down.
She had to look like she was sleeping no matter what.
Even if she wanted to enjoy this mont, enjoy the bliss of kissing Roland, she couldn’t afford to ss up and then be in a silent war with him.
He was very good at it and while it might not affect him, it would hurt her a lot.
’Let... Let’s just sleep.’ she thought. ’This might just be a dream.’
If she assud it was a dream, it would help her get over it faster since it didn’t look like he wanted his ’feelings’ known.
But she kept her hopes up. She hoped that he would confess to her before long.
