Ivory tilted her head curious, dark eyes narrowing playful yet piercing—chili-edged pheromones curling subtle like smoke. "So, you aren’t an oga?"

Why does she think that I am an oga? Not just her, many others think too.

I straightened quick on the velvet sofa, ssy bun slipping further loose with stray tendrils framing my flushed face, erald stare locking hers defiant and unyielding. "I am an alpha. Why are you asking that?"

Can you see that? I am confident about my gender. There is no way you can know that I am a eunuch.

"Just like that," she shrugged smooth and casual, full lips twitching amused at the corners—her chili-laced pheromones spiking faint but insistent, teasing my heightened senses like a dare.

"You seem to have a motive," I pressed harder, voice edged wary and sharp, rubbing my kissed knuckles restless against my thigh.

"I have no motive, I assure you," Ivory replied velvet firm and reassuring, leaning back deeper into the plush velvet sofa—chocolate skin glowing richer against the rain-streaked windows.

I pouted sharp and petulant, cheeks still burning flushed under her scrutiny, and looked away toward the rain-lashed windows where lightning flickered distant—heart thudding conflicted and wild under that unwavering gaze.

"Sorry, Emily," she softened genuine quick, dark eyes crinkling warm with apology, locs catching the chandelier’s glow. "It’s just that you’re too cute, and I couldn’t control myself from teasing you—like a kitten with claws not fully out."

Again? Why does everyone like to compare to a cat or kitten?

"Fine, but I am not a kitten," I huffed exasperated, ponytail unravelling fully loose now into soft waves cascading my shoulders. "Why are you here?"

"I’m here to talk about the attack on Felix—the heir of the country’s biggest pharma company," Ivory said crisp and all business, her captain’s authority snapping into place like a holstered gun, coffee cup forgotten steaming on the table between us.

Shock iced my spine sudden and cold, stomach dropping heavy. "Are you doubting ?" Is Ivory doubting ? Of course, how can I be so stupid? She is a cop! That’s why she is here. So, I guess... we can’t be friends.

"No, you can’t even bind a chicken," she dismissed light and teasing, smile quirking wicked slow—those plush lips parting just enough to flash perfect white teeth, a flash of humour cutting the tension.

"What do you an?" I bristled fierce, alpha... no... eunuch pride flaring hot in my chest despite the embarrassing truth in her jab, fists clenching subtle in my lap.

"Emily, your build is too small."

"I can easily bind a chicken!"

"If you say..." She gave a wicked smirk.

"So, why are you here?" I shot back stubborn and unbowed, crossing arms tight over my chest.

"Because the last person who t him was you," Ivory explained patient and asured, dark eyes steady unblinking like a predator’s—pheromones steadying to sothing protective now, citrus grounding the chili burn into a soothing hum.

"I didn’t do anything," I insisted fierce and desperate, stomach knotting defensive tighter, voice cracking just a fraction.

"You know that’s what every culprit says," she countered wry and knowing, then softened quick with a gentle tilt of her head. "Luckily for you, I believe you."

"You... believe ?" I blinked stunned and breathless, tension bleeding out slow from my shoulders like unwound wire.

"Yes." Her nod was firm and decisive, sleek locs shifting smooth against her neck.

"Did Felix say sothing about ?" I ventured small and hopeful, pulse quickening curious beneath the relief, erald eyes searching her face.

"Nothing," Ivory replied blunt and matter-of-fact, but her gaze lingered warm and lingering—fingers drumming the couch arm thoughtful and rhythmic as thunder rumbled low and ominous outside, rain pattering insistent against the panes.

"I see," I murmured soft, erald eyes flicking down to my lap—fingers twisting restless in the loose waves of my hair, the storm outside mirroring the churn in my gut.

"You know Kien," Ivory prompted smooth, her voice dropping an octave curious, dark gaze sharpening keen over the rim of her cooling coffee. "Apparently, you two know both victims."

"Yeah, I know him," I confird wary, shoulders tensing instinctive at the na—old bruises throbbing phantom on my scalp. "What happened? Is there a problem?"

"He was attacked too," she revealed crisp, blazer rustling as she shifted forward intent, chili pheromones flaring subtle alert. "And no... there is no problem."

"I don’t like him," I admitted blunt, lip curling faint disdain—mories souring the air between us.

Her eyes turned dark sudden, almost black with brewing storm, jaw tightening imperceptibly under chocolate skin. "What did he do?"

Why was she getting angry?

"He tried to hurt ," I said low, voice edged raw—rubbing my wrist absent where his grip had bitten months ago. He was another male lead who had hatred for .

"He did?" Ivory growled soft, protective heat rolling off her in waves, manicured nails digging faint into the couch arm. "Let talk to him. He was my sidekick. That idiot left to build a private security empire, and for so reason he succeeded."

"Sidekick?" I laughed sharp and incredulous, tension cracking into brittle mirth—picturing her towering authority saddled with that fool. "He shouldn’t have been a lieutenant in the first place."

"Why did he hurt you?" she pressed relentless, leaning closer, her tangy scent enveloping like armour—dark eyes boring into mine unyielding.

I hesitated long, throat bobbing nervous, then spilled it halting. "So months ago, hooded people chased down dark alleys—luckily, they couldn’t kidnap ."

"Why didn’t you file a complaint?"

"When I staggered to the police station to file a complaint, he grabbed my hand and hair—tight enough to bruise—and hissed I should leave Lily alone. He wouldn’t let report it."

"He did that?" Ivory’s voice rumbled thunderous, fury flashing hot in her crinkled eyes—fists clenching white-knuckled on her lap, blazer straining across her heaving chest.

I nodded firm, ssy waves tumbling wilder. "Thankfully, I kicked his dick hard and bolted—ran away."

Kien was a bastard, and I hated him too much.

"Why did he attack you? Emily, you said soone’s na right now."

"Lily. It’s because of Lily!"
