Pandora and the rest were confused by their Lord’s random decision to spare the Wolfkin’s life, but they were in no position to question his decisions.

They accepted it as it was.

After giving his verdict, Julian ordered Pandora to go help Theodore to settle in. The Wolfkin was still numb like he did not yet realize the fact that he just got a free ticket at survival.

He was still traumatized by the whole situation.

Julian allowed everyone else to leave except Lilith. The mont everyone else was gone, he looked at her and said. "Thank you".

Lilith looked aghast as she quickly before flustered. "I-it’s my duty," she stuttered as her face quickly blushed red.

Julian shook his head with a serious look on his face, then he said. "This makes it two tis since you’ve intervened to save my life, you even laid down your life for once". He grinned. "I never forget, I’m going to reward you appropriately in the future".

"Your wish is my command, my Lord". She bowed.

Julian finally asked. "Are there any artifacts or fruits to accelerate the growth of a low-ranking Awakened Witch?"

Lilith quietly looked at him for a few seconds with a silent question in her eyes before she answered. "There are multiple fruits that can accelerate the growth of a low-ranking Witch, there are a few artifacts too. If you want, I can go out and get a few for you before evening".

"Please do".

Lilith nodded respectfully, but she didn’t leave imdiately.

She hesitated slightly, then she rembered the events of the starry night date that she had with Zaratul.

She rembered how changed he was, then she finally found the courage to ask. "My Lord, why did you spare his life?"

Julian looked at her and answered calmly. "Because I want to groom him".

"Why?"

"Because I noticed sothing special in him, he has a lot of growth potential".

Lilith’s eyes glead; this was the first ti that she had ever heard the Lord use such a term to describe any Awakened.

’Did I mistake his identity?’ She felt confused. ’Is he really that talented? But there’s nothing special about his fate threads’.

’Ah! Yes. If his fate threads were special, Seraphina would have noticed his special trait too’.

’Maybe only the Lord can see this special trait’.

Despite her thoughts, she didn’t linger after receiving her commands as she bowed one last ti before finally leaving Julian’s bedroom.

The mont she left, Julian’s eyes glead.

His first instinct was to summon Sir Alfred to his room.

...

A few minutes later, the handso middle-aged Demon appeared in his room and bowed in a respectful manner.

"Lord Zaratul, you summoned ".

Julian nodded, then he pointed at the side of the bed. "Sit".

Sir Alfred looked at the bed and hesitated only for a second before sitting on the bed. He had a serious look on his face as he waited for his Lord to speak and tell him the reason for summoning him.

Julian didn’t beat around the bush, he went straight to the point.

He exhaled then he said. "I want to sign a partial Soul Pact with you".

Sir Alfred reacted imdiately as he looked at Lord Zaratul, aghast.

From the mories of the old Zaratul, Julian rembered that just as it was possible to sign full Soul Pacts, it was also possible for high-ranking Awakened of the Demon Race to sign partial Soul Pacts too.

A full Soul Pact cannot be annulled, but a partial Soul Pact can be annulled once both parties co to an agreent.

The detrint of a partial Soul Pact is that while a full Soul Pact enables the high-ranking Demon to gain a powerful subordinate that he can share any of his powers with at any ti, a partial Soul Pact only allows 1 skill to be shared between the contractor and the contractee.

But despite the annulnt clause in a partial Soul Pact, signing it still ant that the contractor would have power over the soul of the contractee, and this was exactly why Sir Alfred looked aghast.

He simply couldn’t fathom a reality where he had power over Lord Zaratul’s soul, the re thought alone felt like treason and heresy.

Julian didn’t just jump to this conclusion though, he had taken his ti to think for a long ti before making the decision.

With the experiences that he had in Falaniondor, most especially the insidious nature of Pandora’s powers, he had been entertaining the thought of getting one of Sir Alfred’s skill for so ti now as a self-preservation tool.

And now, after what happened with Theodore, Julian made his decision.

His ticulous and cautious nature and his respect for his powerful enemies ant that Julian had no intention of walking around unprotected anymore.

Without the rare opportunity of the Debauchery System rewarding him with a Primordial Blood Fruit that he gave to Lilith, she would have not discovered the assassination attempt on ti and if she didn’t, Julian had no idea how the assassination attempt would have ended.

That dagger had the potential to kill him in a single stab!

This was why Julian no longer hesitated. And having used his Snooping Tool after its most recent upgrade on Sir Alfred already, he knew all of the Demon’s skills like the back of his hand.

Julian looked Sir Alfred in the eye. "You don’t need to hesitate, this is sothing that I need to survive".

"Besides, it’s not like you’re going to do anything bad to my soul, right?"

"I trust you".

That last sentence was everything that the butler needed as he imdiately went down on his knees. "My Lord, I am ready to serve".

Julian nodded, then he demanded for the contract.

Soul Pact!

Sir Alfred’s grayish white qi flared as he pulled at the void and dragged out a golden contract paper that was already filled with contract clauses.

Julian took the contract and read through it and with Sir Alfred’s authority, he altered the contract and choose the specific skill that he wanted.
