Chapter 55 Her Grandmother Had Her at Forty

“So, you’re Yuxi’s classmate?”

Xia Sha looked ‘Wang Cheng’ up and down.

She had to admit, this kid wasn’t bad-looking—he could at least match her niece.

She had known Lan Yuxi for years, and this was the first ti her niece had ever spoken highly of a boy, even begging her to give him a job at the restaurant.

But when Qi Lin saw Lan Yuxi’s aunt, he was genuinely stunned. He had expected her to be at least in her mid-thirties or even in her forties. He never imagined she would be so young.

From her fair, smooth skin to the graceful aura she carried, this Xia Sha definitely didn’t look a day over thirty. She wore a dark green qipao that hugged her S-shaped figure, her long hair draped over her shoulders, tied into two buns at the sides with ribbons.

Her flawless face resembled Lan Yuxi’s a little, but she had her own unique charm. If only she were wearing white stockings, Qi Lin would have mistaken her for a certain ani girl from his past life.

“Yes, that’s right—I’m Wang Cheng.”

Qi Lin smirked, his eyes glinting with amusent.

“Yuxi never ntioned her aunt before. Now that I finally get to et you, I must say, you’re incredibly beautiful. I was completely srized just now.”

‘Wang Cheng’ chuckled shalessly.

Xia Sha’s gentle smile imdiately disappeared, and her first impression of this kid worsened. This brat was just a temporary worker at her restaurant.

Sure, he knew Yuxi, but she had no relationship with him whatsoever.

Who gave him the confidence to start calling her ‘Auntie’ so casually?

“I’m actually Yuxi’s grandmother’s youngest daughter. Her grandmother had at forty, so I’m not much older than Yuxi.”

For Yuxi’s sake, Xia Sha decided to clarify things. But that was all she was willing to do.

“Alright, since you’re here, start working.”

“I took a few days off, so the restaurant has gotten a bit dusty. Wipe down all the tables and clean the floors.”

After saying that, she turned and walked back to the cashier counter.

“Here, take this—these are the rags and mop bucket. We need to hurry up and get the restaurant cleaned up.”

The young female server from earlier handed ‘Wang Cheng’ the cleaning tools.

But instead of taking them, ‘Wang Cheng’ lazily asked, “There’s still plenty of ti before lunch, and no custors are here yet. What’s the rush? We can clean later.”

The young server looked at him in disbelief.

Was this guy here to work or to slack off?

“We don’t just serve lunch and dinner. We serve breakfast too. If we don’t clean up now, what happens if custors complain about hygiene?”

She sighed and patiently explained.

Hearing that they served breakfast, ‘Wang Cheng’ suddenly perked up.

“Oh, perfect! I haven’t eaten yet. Can I get sothing to eat before I start?”

The young server: “…”

“Our restaurant doesn’t provide als for employees. Everyone eats before coming to work.”

“Besides, our breakfast dishes are made with premium ingredients and aren’t cheap. How could we just give them away?”

The young server pressed her fingers to her temples, already feeling a headache coming on.

“How do you expect to work on an empty stomach? This place is so stingy. Hey, pretty lady, have you ever thought about switching jobs?”

‘Wang Cheng’ clicked his tongue in disapproval.

At this point, the young server had had enough.

She shoved the mop and rags into his hands and stord off to clean the other tables.

Qi Lin glanced at the cleaning tools in his hands, then smirked and followed after her. Just as she was wiping down a table, he accidentally brushed his hand over hers.

“Ah! What are you doing?”

The young server jumped back, glaring at him in shock.

“Nothing! Just cleaning, sa as you. My hand just happened to touch yours.”

“By the way, your hands are really soft.”

‘Wang Cheng’ grinned, sniffing his own hand as if savoring the mont, playing the role of a pervert perfectly.

“Ugh!”

The young server was on the verge of tears. She couldn’t take this anymore!

Throwing down the rag, she ran straight to Xia Sha to complain.

“Boss, I don’t want to work with this guy! He keeps harassing !”

She cried out in frustration.

Xia Sha had already been keeping an eye on ‘Wang Cheng’ from the cashier counter. She had noticed his behavior.

But since he was introduced by Yuxi, she couldn’t just fire him on the spot.

“Fine. You go clean the second and third floors. Let him stay on the first floor.”

Xia Sha sighed.

At the sa ti, she couldn’t help but think, Yuxi has always had good judgnt… How could she be friends with such a lazy, sleazy guy?

The young server shot ‘Wang Cheng’ one last glare before heading upstairs to clean.

Now that he had lost his chance to ss with her, ‘Wang Cheng’ shrugged and lazily started cleaning.

Well, if half-heartedly wiping each table once and calling it a day counted as cleaning. From the cashier counter, Xia Sha, who was reviewing the food supply list, could barely contain her irritation as she watched him.

“Boss, we’re here for breakfast. The usual, please—stead shrimp dumplings, stead pork ribs, glutinous rice dumplings, custard egg tarts, stir-fried rice noodles, crispy shrimp rolls, and longan white fungus porridge.”

At that mont, the first custors of the day arrived. A group of middle-aged n in suits walked in and took a seat, ordering a spread of Cantonese dim sum.

Oh, right—Xia Sha’s restaurant specialized in Cantonese-style breakfast.

“Wang Cheng, stop cleaning. Go help in the kitchen and serve the food.”

Since his cleaning was practically useless, Xia Sha assigned him a different task.

“Got it, Auntie!”

Qi Lin had already gotten bored of the chore. He threw her a flirtatious wink before running off to the kitchen.

Xia Sha: “…”
