Chapter 1607: Three Ducks

Villain Ch 1607. Three Ducks

“Congratulations!”

Allen froze.

Not because soone shouted at him—he was used to that. Not because he’d just stepped through the portal leading back into the shadow-wreathed throne room of the Cursed Crypts. Not even because the air had changed.

No.

He froze because three life-sized ducks were standing in front of his throne.

And they were holding sparklers.

Sparklers.

That spewed glitter.

Multicolored, high-density mana glitter.

His brain short-circuited.

One sparkled in gold, the second in neon blue, and the third had apparently modded itself to be covered in holographic heart-shaped confetti that shimred in the air like a rave gone wrong.

They were also… dancing.

Slowly. With full-body waddle shakes.

And they chanted in terrifying sync.

“Con-gra-tu-la-tions~”

Allen just stood there. In full Devil Emperor regalia.

Silent.

Expression blank.

Behind him, Jane walked through the portal, took one look, and blurted, “Wow.”

Vivian followed, heels tapping lightly on the black stone. She stopped beside Allen and… said nothing. Just stood there, arms crossed, eyes narrowed like she was trying to process if this was part of a late April Fools’ patch.

Emma was still inside the throne room, standing near the central pillar with the others—Shea, Larissa, Bella, Alice, and Zoe—all of them still in their usual avatars, eyes fixed on the absurd glitter-soaked spectacle unfolding in front of the throne.

She rested one armored hand on her hip, her VirtualGoddess avatar gleaming with every flicker of the sparklers.

As the duck-suited staff began waddling in formation again, one of them nearly tripped over its own oversized webbed feet.

Emma exhaled, dryly unimpressed.

“At least,” she muttered, “they didn’t bring back the inflatable pigs this ti.”

The ducks all turned their giant, bobbing heads toward Allen.

One of them raised a glittery sparkler and pointed it straight at his chest like it was a lightsaber of celebration.

From the side, one of the ducks shifted and transford mid-glitch—revealing Kafra.

She stepped forward, still grinning—the kind of grin Allen hadn’t seen before.

The biggest, most suspicious, “I’m about to give you a plaque and a headache” kind of grin.

“Mind to explain what this is?” Allen finally said, voice dry as hell, still staring at the duck suits.

Kafra walked right up to him and patted his shoulder like they were old war buddies.

“The event was a success,” she declared. “You balanced it. You nailed it! This is genius!”

Allen blinked. “…The ducks?”

“No!” said another staff mber as he deactivated his duck avatar, revealing a slim guy in mod armor with a naplate labeled “GaOps_Ren”. “Well, okay—also the ducks. But the whole damn thing. You know halfway through the event, we were sweating in the admin channel.”

Kafra nodded rapidly, still gripping Allen’s shoulder like it was a lifeline. “They were freaking out. Especially after you—uh—personally hunted the infiltrators in the Crypt’s lower zones. That was not scripted.”

Allen shrugged. “They triggered alarms. I handled it.”

“I know,” said Ren. “That’s what scared us. You handled it too well. We thought the players would feel like it was rigged.”

A third duck-decorated staffer walked over, transforming into a woman in a sleek dark suit labeled “NarrativeDesign_Lani”.

“This was the first open-attack event,” she added. “We expected a war, but not a one-sided bloodbath. I an… internally we thought, ‘Oh no. They’re going to rage quit.'”

Jane giggled from her throne-side perch. “They didn’t rage quit.”

“No,” Lani agreed, pointing at Allen. “Because you let that priest land a hit. One hit. But it changed everything.”

Kafra bead. “You gave them hope.”

Vivian arched a brow. “All it took was a dagger scratch?”

“YES!” all three staffers said at once.

Ren stepped forward, giving Allen a thumbs up. “We’re already getting the promotional clips lined up. The editing team’s foaming at the mouth. You know the scene? The slow-mo mont where Alex’s dagger cuts your cheek, the lighting goes dark, the music swells?”

Jane clapped. “I need to see that.”

“You will,” Lani grinned. “The PR team’s calling it the ‘Bloody Hope Fra.'”

Allen exhaled. “Dramatic.”

Kafra patted his shoulder again. “They love dramatic. Our marketing division said almost the entire raid could be used for trailers.”

“And the sales division,” Ren added, already swiping through his nu, “they’re prepping a new pay-to-win catalog. Skins based on the crypts, your throne room, succubus-thed costics—”

Vivian tilted her head. “Excuse ?”

“Oh, don’t worry, we’ll split profits,” Kafra added quickly. “Licensing. Totally clean.”

Emma crossed her arms. “What about ? I tanked half that raid in Lust form.”

Kafra nodded. “We’re adding ‘BDSM’ alt-skins too.”

“Pfft.” Jane smirked. “If we’re selling chaos, I want a custom emote that says ‘Congratulations!’ with duck confetti.”

Lani raised her hand. “Already in developnt.”

Allen rubbed the bridge of his nose. “You three turned my throne room into a birthday party.”

Kafra stepped in front of him again, lifting a glitter-filled sparkler and handing it to him like a ceremonial blade.

“You made this work,” she said, voice actually sincere now. “Seriously, Allen. We were worried. First real siege, new PVP scaling, wild chanics, limited test runs, full player visibility. But you delivered.”

She looked around at the crypt.

At the scorched walls. The cracked black stone. The air still faintly humming from the aftereffects of his final skill.

“And the throne never fell.”

Vivian finally smiled again. “Of course it didn’t.”

Allen looked at the sparkler in his hand.

It flared pink and gold, fizzing softly. A ridiculous thing.

He stared at it.

Then back at the three dev staffers.

“…I swear, if I see duck-thed lootboxes in the next update—”

“You will,” Ren said cheerfully.

“But you’ll also get your share,” Kafra added with a wink.

Allen groaned.

Then—

he laughed.

Just once.

Quiet. But real.

Jane leaned on the throne’s armrest, watching him with a smirk. “See? You do know how to have fun.”

Allen rolled his eyes. “Remind to vaporize all three of them next event.”

Emma snorted. “With a confetti explosion.”

Vivian nodded, arms folded. “And maybe so slow clapping.”
