Villain Ch 1360. The Witch or The Vampire?

Jane's grin widened, and she leaned closer, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I don't know, boss. Dark magic, mysterious power, a tendency to gather won in strange scenarios… it's adding up."

Allen sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Jane," he said, his tone exasperated but resigned.

"I'm just saying," Jane continued, her grin unrelenting. "If the Great Lord's shoe fits—"

"It doesn't," Allen interrupted, cutting her off, but his voice lacked its usual sharpness. The teasing stung a little because, deep down, he couldn't entirely deny it. The whole situation felt uncomfortably familiar, and the diary's contents didn't help.

The group fell quiet, watching Allen's reaction. Zoe was the first to break the silence, smirking as she crossed her arms. "You're not denying it very hard, Allen."

"That's because I'm thinking," Allen shot back, though his voice held no heat. He rubbed the back of his neck, frowning as his thoughts churned. "Look, if this Great Lord really is supposed to be the Devil Emperor, that raises even more questions. First off, I thought they considered the Devil Emperor a villain. So why would anyone force maidens to marry him? Was it so kind of sacrifice?"

"Maybe," Shea said thoughtfully. "Or it could've been a way to control him. A political move, maybe. But instead of going along with it, the emperor might've just…" She made a slicing motion across her neck. "You know, decided to kill them instead."

"Which would explain why the girl was so scared," Jane added, twirling her staff absently. "I an, if you think you're being sent to your death, you'd probably write a desperate diary too."

Zoe raised an eyebrow. "So, this girl… she's probably one of us, right? From the past or sothing?"

Shea glanced around the group, her sharp gaze landing on Alice and Larissa. "Well, the ones here with long black hair are…" She pointed at them.

Alice and Larissa exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of surprise and discomfort. "It seems like this could be one of us," Alice admitted reluctantly.

"But why would it be one of us?" Larissa asked, folding her arms. "This doesn't make sense. I'm a vampire queen! Being trapped in so random village and forced to marry the Devil Emperor? Nah, that's too weird."

"That's because if this is tied to the confusion effect, it's probably playing with tilines or mories," Alice replied. She glanced at Allen. "But I have to admit, it feels off. Like sothing's deliberately being hidden."

"Still," Zoe said, smirking, "if I had to bet, I'd say this is Alice's backstory. I an, between the magic formations and the whole 'pure maiden' aesthetic, it screams witch vibes."

"Hey!" Alice protested, glaring at Zoe. "Just because I'm a witch doesn't an every creepy thing is tied to !"

"Doesn't it, though?" Zoe teased, earning a scowl from Alice.

"Enough," Allen said, his voice cutting through the bickering. "None of this explains the horny undead, either. If this is about the Devil Emperor and maidens, where do they fit in?"

Shea shrugged. "Maybe they're just part of the confusion effect. Or maybe it's sothing Emma added to ss with us. You know, like those ridiculous rn from the last dungeon."

"Ugh, don't remind ," Bella muttered. "I'm still scarred from that."

With no clear answers, the group began making their way toward the exit. The oppressive atmosphere seed to ease slightly as they moved, the faint glow of the formations fading into the distance. For a mont, it almost felt like they were finally leaving the worst behind.

But just as they reached the doorway, a low, familiar sound stopped them in their tracks.

"Oh, no," Jane muttered, her eyes widening. "Not again."

The moaning started softly, but it grew louder with every passing second, echoing through the crumbling hallway. Then ca the sound of footsteps—slow and deliberate, but unmistakably drawing closer.

"It's an ambush," Allen said, his voice grim. "Get ready."

The group barely had ti to prepare before the first figure erged from the darkness. It was another undead—its decayed form shambling toward them with an unsettling mix of eagerness and malice. But this ti, it wasn't alone. Dozens more followed, their glowing eyes fixed on the group as they closed in.

"Seriously?" Zoe said, her blade flashing as she stepped into a fighting stance. "Can't we catch a break for once?"

"Apparently not," Shea replied. "Let's deal with this quickly."

The horde of undead shuffled closer, their grotesque forms illuminated by the faint glow of the ruined walls. It was unmistakable now—these were Passion Rotters, their hollow eyes glowing with unsettling energy. Their movents were slow and deliberate, yet there was an eagerness in the way they lunged forward, their moans echoing unnervingly through the hallway.

"Passion Rotters again?" Bella said, her tone dripping with disdain. "I thought we were done with these things."

"Right?" Jane added. "And they're not even the big ones. I was expecting sothing better. Like, co on, at least make it interesting."

Allen glanced at the horde, his expression calm but calculating. "So," he said, his voice steady. "Who wants to handle them?"

"," Zoe said imdiately, a sharp grin spreading across her face. Her tentacles unfurled, writhing with anticipation as she stepped forward. "I've been itching to try sothing."

Allen raised an eyebrow, stepping back to let her take the lead. "All yours."

The Passion Rotters shuffled closer, their guttural moans growing louder as they closed in on the group. Zoe stood her ground, her tentacles flexing as the air around her began to shift.

"Watch this," she said, her voice low but laced with excitent. She raised her arms, and her tentacles lashed out, glowing with an otherworldly blue light. "Tsunami!"

The air was suddenly filled with the deafening roar of water as a massive wave surged forward, crashing into the horde with incredible force. The Passion Rotters were swept up instantly, their decayed forms tossed and battered by the torrent. The wave consud everything in its path, leaving nothing but silence and soaked ruins in its wake.

When the water receded, the hallway was empty. The horde was gone, reduced to nothing by Zoe's devastating attack.
