Villain Ch 1246. Not an Unprepared Boss Fight

"I an it," Allen continued, his gaze steady but not overwhelming. "I planned this to give you a proper date. To cheer you up. So don't overthink it, alright?"

Her chest tightened, and she bit her lip, nodding slowly. "Alright," she managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Good," Allen said, leaning back with a satisfied smirk. "Now stop looking like I've thrown you into a boss fight unprepared."

Zoe couldn't help but laugh at that, the tension in her chest loosening. "Well, it felt like one," she admitted, finally eting his eyes again.

"Not my fault you're dramatic," Allen teased, picking up his drink and taking a sip.

"I am not dramatic," Zoe shot back, though her smile betrayed her. She glanced at the bracelet on her wrist again, the wave charm catching the light. Every ti she looked at it, her heart swelled a little more. "But seriously… Thank you. For everything. You didn't have to go all out like this."

Allen shrugged, but there was a hint of softness in his expression. "I wanted to. That's all that matters."

Zoe couldn't stop smiling. Her heart felt so full it might burst, and she couldn't rember the last ti she'd felt this content. She glanced at her empty sundae dish, then back at Allen, who was now sipping his drink like he hadn't just turned her entire world upside down with his words. 'How does he do this?' she wondered for what felt like the hundredth ti.

She fiddled with the bracelet on her wrist, running her fingers over the wave charm. Every ti it caught the light, she felt a little thrill of happiness. It wasn't just the bracelet itself—it was what it symbolized. Thoughtfulness. Care. Him.

After they finished their food, Allen gestured toward the ga center section of the cafe. "Ready to check out the VR pods? Or are you too full to move?"

Zoe stood up quickly, her eyes lighting up. "Are you kidding? I've been waiting for this since we walked in."

Allen chuckled, following her toward the brightly lit gaming area. "Thought so."

The ga center was a gar's paradise. Rows of sleek VR pods lined the walls, equipped with glowing displays and touch panels. Large holographic screens hung above the pods, showcasing live feeds of the gas being played. The air buzzed with excitent, laughter, and the occasional groan of defeat.

Zoe's pulse quickened as she scanned the room, already itching to jump in. "This place is insane," she said, her voice tinged with awe.

"Pick your ga," Allen said, gesturing to the selection displayed on a central hologram. "But don't expect to go easy on you."

Zoe smirked, her confidence surging. "Oh, I wouldn't dream of it. Prepare to lose."

"Big talk," Allen said, his tone teasing but competitive. "Let's see if you can back it up."

She selected a fast-paced, action-packed VR battle ga, the kind that required lightning reflexes and strategic thinking. It was her favorite type of ga—sothing she could really sink her teeth into. Allen raised an eyebrow at her choice, his smirk growing. "Bold move."

"I aim to impress," Zoe said, stepping into the nearest pod.

The mont the ga started, Zoe was in her elent. The VR system sprang to life, imrsing her in a dazzling digital arena. The controls felt smooth and intuitive, and her character—a sleek, agile warrior ard with dual blades—moved like an extension of her own body.

Allen's character materialized across the arena—a towering, armored figure wielding a massive broadsword. His stance was calm, confident, and unmistakably challenging.

The holographic screen showed their battle to the others.

"You ready?" Allen's voice crackled through the comms, laced with amusent.

"A broadsword? That's unusual," Zoe shot back, her adrenaline spiking.

"I'm thinking of trying sothing different once in a while," he answered simply.

"Then prepare to lose…" she announced.

The match began, and Zoe launched into action. She darted forward, her movents fast and unpredictable, aiming for Allen's blind spots. But he was quick—almost unnervingly so. His broadsword ca up in a perfect block, the clash of her dual blades against his weapon sending sparks flying. The impact reverberated through her VR device.

"Nice try," Allen's voice crackled through the comms, calm and teasing. "But you'll have to do better than that."

Zoe smirked, rolling to the side to dodge his counterattack. The broadsword sliced through the air where she'd been standing monts ago, its sheer force sending a shockwave that rattled the arena floor. She didn't hesitate, using the montum to leap onto a nearby ledge and reposition herself.

"Better?" Zoe quipped, her character crouching in a ready stance. "Or do you need to slow down for you?"

Allen's laugh ca through the comms, low and confident. "Keep talking. Let's see how long that lasts."

He charged toward her. Zoe's heart raced as she sprang into action, launching herself off the ledge with a mid-air flip. Her blades sang through the air as she brought them down in a rapid flurry of strikes. Allen pivoted, deflecting each one with precision, the clash of tal echoing through the virtual battlefield.

The audience around the VR pods started to grow, their murmurs of excitent barely registering in Zoe's mind. She was too focused, her every thought consud by the match. Allen was relentless, his swings wide and punishing, designed to force her into a corner. But Zoe was quick, weaving through his attacks like water, her agility keeping her just out of reach.

"You're not making this easy," Allen admitted, his tone still infuriatingly calm.

"Wasn't planning to," Zoe shot back, her adrenaline surging as she spotted an opening.

She dashed forward, sliding under his next swing and slashing at his legs. The strike landed, staggering his character and depleting a chunk of his health bar. The crowd let out a cheer, their voices a faint hum in her ears.

"Lucky hit," Allen said, recovering quickly and swinging his broadsword in a wide arc. Zoe barely managed to roll out of the way, the edge of the blade grazing her shoulder and triggering a vibration through her suit.

"Call it skill," Zoe replied, her breath coming faster now.
