Villain Ch 1054. If It Works, It Works

Jas let out a small sigh of relief, though it was quickly replaced by determination. "Good," he muttered under his breath. "Let's get in there before we do miss anything."

Mila, who had been silently adjusting the strap on her purse, glanced up at Jas with an amused smile. "Why are you so anxious? They didn't even invite us."

Jas shot her a sharp look as they moved toward the elevator, his footsteps quick and purposeful. "I know that. That's all the more reason why we have to hurry. We need to be there before they seal any deals."

She rolled her eyes, following him into the elevator as the doors slid open with a quiet whoosh. They stepped inside. The tension between them remained palpable, though familiar. It wasn't the first ti Jas had dragged her into sothing like this, and it wouldn't be the last.

Mila leaned against the elevator wall, crossing her arms as the doors closed. "What if they don't let us in?" she asked, her voice teasing but laced with a bit of genuine concern.

Jas scoffed, shaking his head. "Why wouldn't they let us in? My position in this project is the sa as Marcus'. We're both representing our families. Besides, Marcus and I are practically partners in this matter. He's not going to stop us."

Mila smirked, raising an eyebrow. "But Marcus' family holds more than 50% of the shares in this building. It's basically theirs. Doesn't that give him more power to do whatever he wants?"

Jas shot her an annoyed glance, his jaw tightening as he tried to keep his composure. "Can you stop giving negative vibes? I'm trying to save your dead-end love story here, rember?"

Mila rolled her eyes again, but this ti with a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks. "Fine, fine," she muttered, though she felt her heart skip a beat at the ntion of her love life—or lack thereof.

Jas grinned smugly. "Just help seal this deal. You know what you have to do."

Mila turned her gaze sharply toward him, narrowing her eyes. "What do you an by that?"

Jas raised an eyebrow, his smirk growing wider. "You know exactly what I an. If it helps, seduce the Goldborne rep. Get close to him. Charm him. You're good at that." His tone was teasing, but there was an edge of seriousness beneath it.

Mila's eyes darkened, her expression hardening. "So, you do want to use as bait to make the deal."

Jas shrugged nonchalantly, his grin never fading. "Hey, if it works, it works. Besides, who knows? Maybe you'll get so information about Allen in the process."

At the ntion of Allen's na, Mila's expression faltered. She pressed her lips together, unable to deny the truth in Jas' words. Her feelings for Allen had been growing stronger now. She knew so little about his real life, only what he had let slip during their gaming sessions and a little this and that from her own investigation.

And while she loved the Allen she knew, the thought of getting closer to the Goldborne family just to learn more about him felt… wrong. But still, Jas had a point. If there was any way to get closer to Allen, it might be through this deal.

Jas noticed her hesitation, his smirk widening. "And also," he continued, "there's a possibility that the one who ca today is Mr. Jordan Goldborne himself. If that's true, then you're in luck. He will beco your top-tier informant. Maybe he's promoted Allen within the family business, or maybe…"

Jas paused for dramatic effect, his eyes glinting mischievously, "he's trying to match Allen with his heir."

Mila froze at those words. "That's impossible," she muttered, though her voice lacked conviction.

Jas glanced at her casually, leaning against the elevator wall. "Is it? The Goldbornes only have one female heir, Emma Goldborne. Maybe Jordan Goldborne has been impressed by Allen's gaming skills and is considering him for more than just business. I an, your brother is interested in recruiting Allen to his gaming company. Maybe Mr.

Goldborne is thinking along the sa lines."

Mila's mind raced, her stomach twisting in knots. The idea that Allen could be involved in sothing like that, that he could be connected to the Goldborne family in such a significant way, was almost too much to handle. And yet, it made a strange kind of sense.

Allen had always been a bit of a mystery, and now, hearing Jas' theory, she couldn't help but wonder if there was more truth to it than she wanted to admit.

The elevator dinged softly, pulling her from her thoughts. The doors slid open, revealing the polished hallway leading to the private eting rooms. Jas stepped out first, his usual confident swagger in full force. Mila followed, but her mind was still spinning with the implications of what Jas had said.

Jas glanced back at Mila. "Fix your smile," he said, his tone light but commanding.

Mila snorted softly, clearly annoyed by his bossy tone, but she knew he was right. In high society, appearances were everything, especially when she was about to step into a situation where people's eyes would be on her. She adjusted her expression, putting on a pleasant, almost charming smile, even though her mind was still spinning with thoughts of Allen.

They walked down the hallway toward the eting room. The atmosphere grew heavier. The door was shut, and three n stood guard outside. One of them wore a distinctive badge that Mila imdiately recognized as belonging to the Goldborne family, while the other was clearly from Marcus' side.

The final figure, standing tall and impassive, was building security, there to ensure that no uninvited guests wandered in.

Jas walked up confidently but didn't push too far ahead. Even though he was one of the owner's sons, it wasn't as simple as just barging in. Deals like this required a certain finesse, and Jas knew the eting was likely already in full swing. If he disrupted it now, he could make things awkward—or worse, blow the whole negotiation. So, this was basic small talk, a test of the waters.
