Wang Jian naturally wasn’t aware of the events transpiring at the hospital.

He had already returned to the consultation room. Ren Yu had long since tidied up, but she was nowhere to be seen. Just as Wang Jian was wondering where she was, he noticed a ssage on his phone from Ren Yu. He hadn’t seen it earlier because he had been busy treating Grandpa Yu.

"Brother, I’m heading back first."

"(*╹▽╹*)"

Wang Jian smiled, amused by the cute emoji she had sent.

The consultation room was empty, filled only with the chill from the air conditioner. At a ti like this, Wang Jian had only one thought: turn off the computer and the air conditioner, head ho early, and save the country so resources.

However, just as he switched off his computer and picked up the air conditioner remote, the stranger from out of town arrived.

"You are?" Wang Jian asked, observing the man he had noticed earlier. "Here for treatnt?"

Peng Qing was the kind of person whose distinctive aura made him stand out in a crowd, drawing a second glance from everyone. That’s why Wang Jian rembered him so vividly; he had paid extra attention to him while treating Grandpa Yu.

I was curious why he ca to the village, Wang Jian thought. Now, it seems... he ca for .

And he was right. As soon as Wang Jian finished speaking, Peng Qing nodded.

"Yes."

While Wang Jian sized up Peng Qing, Peng Qing was observing him in turn. Even after witnessing Wang Jian’s capabilities firsthand—dical skills he felt were nothing short of miraculous—Peng Qing couldn’t shake a sense of unreality. In that mont, after witnessing a treatnt thod he had never seen before, a single thought had surfaced in his mind: Perhaps... perhaps only this young man can truly save my son.

Overwheld by this thought, Peng Qing was unusually at a loss for words. He simply stood at the doorway, nodding silently. He had left his security guard outside the door; he didn’t want too many people to know about his son’s condition, and the guard could intercept anyone who approached.

After they regarded each other for a long mont, Wang Jian finally broke the silence, gesturing for Peng Qing to sit. Since Peng Qing wasn’t speaking, he had to take the initiative.

"Please, sit. Your left hand, thank you," Wang Jian said, adjusting his sleeves as he sat down at his desk. "What symptoms have you been experiencing lately?"

"Symptoms?" The question snapped Peng Qing back to reality, reminding him of his reason for coming. He sighed and gave a bitter smile. "Doctor Wang, my apologies. I was lost in thought. I’m actually not here for myself."

"I have a child," Peng Qing continued. "He has a strange illness, and for years now, I’ve consulted all kinds of experts. We’ve tried both Western and Chinese dicine, but nothing has worked. They can’t even find the cause, let alone a treatnt. We’ve spent years on endless tests, diagnoses, and specialist etings, seeking help everywhere, but there’s no solution.

"Everyone has their own theory. We’ve tried every treatnt for every illness they could na, but it was all useless. Sotis a treatnt would seem to work for a little while, but then the illness would relapse, presenting new symptoms. Then they’d just say it was a new disease... It’s been a cycle like that, over and over again.

"But last week, that group of experts, who could never agree on anything, suddenly seed to reach a consensus. They collectively issued a critical condition notice, telling my child has less than a few months to live."

As he spoke, Peng Qing’s anger was palpable, but once it faded, only bewildernt remained. He was furious because the experts couldn’t even identify the disease. When no one had any answers, all he had left was confusion. But upon hearing the critical prognosis, his confusion turned into utter helplessness.

"He’s only fourteen. But when he heard the news, he was completely stoic, as if he’d already accepted his fate. I know the truth, though. He’s given up."

"I had already lost hope," Peng Qing said. Then, recalling what he had just witnessed, he looked up abruptly at Wang Jian, a new light gleaming in his eyes.

"Doctor Wang, please, you have to save him," Peng Qing pleaded.

After the words left his mouth, he hesitated. What if Doctor Wang can’t do it?

He quickly added, "Even if you can’t save him, at least... at least make him more comfortable."

Upon hearing this, Wang Jian was taken aback. I’m confident in my dical skills, sure, but any doctor who makes a promise without even seeing the patient isn’t a miracle worker, they’re an idiot.

So Wang Jian hurriedly cut him off. God knows, if I let him keep talking, he’ll convince himself I’ve already cured the kid. He had dealt with parents like this back at the hospital. Peng Qing was clearly an influential person, and Wang Jian didn’t want to get dragged into unnecessary trouble.

"Sir, please calm down," Wang Jian said, his tone as level as he could make it. "You’ve said a lot, but I still don’t have a clear picture of the patient’s condition." He glanced past Peng Qing. "Is the patient here today?"

Peng Qing shook his head.

"Regardless," Wang Jian stated, "I have to see the patient to know how to proceed."

"May I have your na, sir?"

Hearing this, Peng Qing slapped his forehead. "Ah, look at , I completely forgot to introduce myself. It was Cai Xing who referred , Doctor Wang. My na is Peng Qing."

Having said his na, Peng Qing fell silent, waiting for a reaction. In his mind, anyone who used the internet would surely be familiar with his na.

He was disappointed. Wang Jian had no reaction at all.

Peng Qing? The na is a little familiar, but I can’t place it. I don’t know him at all. But from his expression, it looks like I’m supposed to. Wang Jian thought for a mont. Nope, definitely never heard of him.

Peng Qing had seriously miscalculated. He could never have imagined that Wang Jian was such an anomaly. Despite being in his twenties, he rarely went online. Any free ti he had was spent either reading dical texts or traveling with his master. He simply didn’t have the habit of scrolling through his phone, so, naturally, the na Peng Qing ant nothing to him.

Under Peng Qing’s puzzled gaze, Wang Jian spoke calmly.

"So, it was a referral from Chairman Cai."

This answered Wang Jian’s unspoken question. My reputation isn’t that widespread. Even if my dical skills are excellent, I’m a nobody in the greater dical world. Why would soone like him seek out a small-town village doctor for no reason?

Wang Jian considered this, then asked, "Is the patient at Chairman Cai’s house now?"

"Yes, that’s right." Peng Qing nodded. "If it’s convenient for you, Doctor Wang, you could co with to take a look." As soon as he finished, worried he might have offended him, he quickly changed his tune. "Or I could bring the child here. Perhaps that would be more..."

After witnessing Wang Jian’s level of dical skill, he didn’t dare act presumptuously and kept his tone exceedingly polite.

Wang Jian glanced at the ti. He had enough. But the equipnt in this clinic isn’t really suited for a major illness...

"Let’s just go to the Cai family’s ho," Wang Jian said decisively.

Seeing how accommodating Wang Jian was, Peng Qing was overjoyed and stood up imdiately. But as he reached the door, he stopped. "Oh, right, Doctor Wang, there’s one more thing, if I may trouble you."

"Please, go ahead."

"My son... he’s truly given up hope. He told to stop trying to find a solution for him, to just let things be... I don’t want to disappoint him again, so I didn’t tell him I found another doctor. When you see him, could you just... not say anything about being a doctor?"

Upon hearing this, Wang Jian stopped in his tracks, looking at Peng Qing with a peculiar expression. If this were a week ago, I would have cursed him out right now. Are you kidding ? Before, no matter how good my dical skills were, there was no way I could diagnose an illness without asking questions or performing an examination...

Wang Jian squinted, his tone pointed. "Mr. Peng, that’s a rather difficult request."

"Ah, this..." Peng Qing laughed wryly. Of course, he knew the request was excessive, but his son truly couldn’t take any more disappointnt. Just as he was struggling to find an explanation, he was surprised to see Wang Jian’s silence break into a smile. Wang Jian waved a hand dismissively and led the way out the door.

"Fine," he said. "We’ll do it your way."

Seeing that Wang Jian wasn’t angry and had even smiled, Peng Qing let out a breath of relief and followed, beaming. Perhaps... perhaps I really did catch that ray of hope I saw when leaving the Cai residence. Right now, I’m not the CEO of a globally renowned company; I’m just a father. When my son’s life is on the line, what’s a little humility?

They were oblivious to the fact that just as they reached the village entrance, a television station’s interview van was pulling to a stop. A female reporter was just getting out of the van as Peng Qing ushered a grateful Wang Jian into his car, and the scene caught her eye.

The reporter wore a cream-colored blouse and a black skirt with dark stockings. Her pretty face was only lightly made up, giving her a warm, approachable look. A boundless energy for her work sparkled in her large eyes, suggesting she was new to the profession. A lively ponytail bounced behind her head, adding to her youthful air, and a playful lock of hair fell across her forehead, making her look all the more engaging when she brushed it aside. Her arrival was a scenic addition to the village entrance.

But her expression changed to one of shock when she recognized the man standing by the business car. Peng Qing? She looked as if she had seen a ghost. It’s unbelievable... soone like him acting as a chauffeur for another person?

She imdiately pulled out her phone to confirm sothing. After checking so information and comparing it to a photo on her screen, she froze. She glanced from her phone to the black business car in the distance and back again, her expression of disbelief growing more and more pronounced.

I have to be seeing things!

"Angel, what’s wrong?" her caraman, who had just gotten out of the van, asked upon noticing her odd behavior. He then followed her gaze.
