Adding an AI Core to Ga Characters
Giving in-ga characters an artificial intelligence core to make them more dynamic.
In the conference hall, many ga developers were simply thinking about using AI to increase enemy difficulty. But one person was thinking further—he now completely understood what Takayuki was trying to do.
As expected from the man hailed as the God of Gas—his idea was nothing short of brilliant.
"Everyone should have seen the demo by now. Does anyone have any thoughts?"Takayuki looked at the crowd, hoping soone had guessed his true goal.
Tsukino Aya squinted her eyes, seemingly beginning to understand. Beside her, Airi Hayasawa still looked puzzled—she usually worked on hardware systems and was only here because Tsukino brought her along.
But she had to admit, the AI demonstration sparked her curiosity.
Takayuki had said it was all powered by massive computational training. Which ant this AI would require very high-performance hardware—especially processors built for AI training.
No... even strong processors alone might not be enough...
Just then, soone stood up and asked, "President, could this kind of AI be used in Monster Hunter or Sekiro?"
"Hm... it could, but that would make the difficulty too high. Internal testing is fine, but I don't recomnd it for actual release."
"Then... is your idea to use this AI in autonomous simulation programs?"
"No, there's no point in simply watching AIs interact with each other."
Several people offered guesses, but none hit the mark.
After a pause, Takayuki began explaining, "My real goal is to use AI in our future open-world gas—to drive the behavior of NPCs."
He switched the screen back to the red and blue characters from earlier.
"In this program, I gave the four characters only one goal—red catches blue, blue avoids red. But what if we added more rules?"
As people started thinking, one person stood up with wide eyes."President! Are you saying the AI would generate its own life, its own story, within the ga world?"
Takayuki smiled. "Exactly."
"Imagine giving the AI rules for life and death, walking, running, fear, joy, sadness, competition—everything. Sure, building the base model will be complex, but once the foundation is set, the stories will write themselves."
"But President, the AI in the demo started behaving strangely toward the end. It used thods beyond the ga's intended chanics. Wouldn't that break imrsion for players?"
"That's why we need strict rule-setting. While we can't completely prevent edge cases, we can design multi-layer safeguards to limit out-of-bounds behavior."
Airi Hayasawa suddenly spoke up."Takayuki, have you thought about whether current ga consoles can handle this? The AI's computational demands might be enormous."
"That's a great question—and that brings to the next plan."
"This level of AI training can't rely solely on existing CPUs and GPUs. The load is too great. So, it's ti to launch a new ga console—one that includes not just a CPU and GPU, but also a dedicated AI processor."
This was Takayuki's gamble.
In the past, Nintendo had taken bold steps to revolutionize gaming. And Takayuki had already recreated many of those achievents in this world.
Now, the "inventory" of past innovations was running low. After more than 20 years of smooth sailing, he felt confident—but also ready to take a risk.
At worst, it would just be a financial loss. But even then, he believed in AI's future.
Even if AI couldn't be used in gas, it would still thrive in smartphones, caras, autonomous vehicles, and more.
The future of humanity was bound to AI—and he would not lose.
"So next, I plan to implent this AI in Cyberpunk 2077's developnt. Before that, we'll test it in other upcoming open-world projects."
Takayuki stood up."I hope you'll join in witnessing the birth of a new era. Let's see how far this AI can go."
"Of course. Takayuki really does want to create a virtual world using AI," Benedict thought, overwheld with awe. If that world could be built... would AI count as a new form of life?
In the room, many still didn't fully grasp what it all ant—but their trust in Takayuki ran deep. If he believed in it, they would follow him without hesitation.
And even if this path turned out to be a dead end—so what?
They were ready to try.
