Turning to i he said, "Don’t look at like that. I will make more money." Lian pinched her sister’s cheek playfully and said, "No pouting. Master will make more and more money."
i wasn’t reassured at all. In fact, she got mad at Lian because she had just seen her digging for gold with the sa fingers she was now pinching her with. She leaned back while yelling, "Get your filthy paws off of . Master look, she is touching with her booger hands."
Xiang Yu took a sip of his tea with a slight quirk on his lips. He was glad they were back to their old selves fighting over useless things. "What are you fretting over when we are practically the sa person? Co here let touch you so more. It’s like a moisturiser. It will your skin smooth."
"Ew, ew, ew, master, save ," said i, hiding under the table while wiping her face vigorously.
"Lian, stop ssing with your sister," he reprimanded her, and like she had an off switch, she sat back up with an innocent smile like she hadn’t done anything wrong. "Do you want to go to the brothel?" he continued to ask. There was an age restriction, but it was during the day with less activity, plus all he needed to do was slip a few extra coins into the doorkeeper’s hands, and they would be let in.
Lian and i nodded eagerly, their heads bobbing like chickens pecking at rice. With a plan in mind, Xiang Yu led the twins through the bustling streets of Fengmi town to shop for clothes. He was prepared for them to take ages to pick sothing but he didn’t anticipate it would be this long.
He leaned back in his chair, feeling every bit like a father dragged to the store under duress. The fact that the store was stocked up with so many dresses and fabrics didn’t help. The owner of the shop seed to have studied the art of making clients spend more. No wonder the shop was so popular. They were comfortable chairs, and they would even offer iced tea to their custors to make them stay longer.
Lian and i were like kids in a candy store. They flitted around the dress shop, trying on outfit after outfit. He watched as they twirled in front of the bronze mirrors, their laughter filling the air. After the sixth outfit change, Xiang Yu couldn’t hold back any longer.
"Lian, you have changed into the sa dress twice," he said, exasperation clear in his voice. "And the answer is the sa—you like it."
Lian pouted, defending herself. "Master, i said we could only get two sets, and I want this one too."
Xiang Yu turned to i, who was examining yet another dress. "And you, you keep picking clothes in the sa colour. They all look the sa on you."
i rolled her eyes, holding up two dresses. "Master, your eyes need to be checked. They are obviously different. This one has a cloud pattern, and this one has flowers embroidered on it."
Xiang Yu, "..."
He pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling a headache coming on. "Make up your minds, both of you. I am about to grow roots here."
"But master you haven’t tried on anything. You need to buy clothes too," said Lian, and Xiang Yu pointed at the black and white outfit hung at the back of the shop, showing that won rarely picked such a dark colour.
"Well, you still have to pick one more," chid i, and he pointed at the other black and red outfit. He was a simple man who liked the sa things so there was no need to put in extra effort just because he was disguised as the other gender.
"See how fast that was? Now your turn," he said and just then he noticed a familiar figure standing outside. Yi Nuo was standing in front of the shop, looking hesitant. She had been sent by the general to check on them. When the general found out that Peng Xiu was gone, he was angry which was a rare sight to see.
Yi Nuo explained that he had told Peng Xiu that they were going to head into Fengmi town later in the day so she might have gone ahead of the group. Hearing that, Han Xin ordered Jun De, to go find her at Fengmi town but when he rembered Peng Xiu calling him De-ge affectionately he changed his mind ordering Yi Nuo to go.
Xiang Yu could understand what happened without her saying it. He beckoned her over, and Yi Nuo, embarrassed at being caught, hesitated before entering. She had never been in a dress shop in her entire life, having joined the military as a child. She only ever wore her uniform and when she had ti off, she spent it in the military camp as she had no ho to go to. This ant she had never worn anything pretty before.
"Sister Nuo, co in," he called out, waving her over. "We could use another opinion."
Yi Nuo stepped inside, her eyes wide with curiosity and a hint of discomfort. The vibrant colours and delicate fabrics were a stark contrast to the utilitarian world she was used to. Lian and i imdiately pulled her into their excitent, showing her the dresses they were considering. They were trying to use Yi Nuo to buy ti and stick around longer.
Xiang Yu watched as Yi Nuo slowly relaxed, her initial embarrassnt fading as she got caught up in the twins’ enthusiasm. He smiled to himself seeing how visibly overwheld by the twins she was. Lian and i were shoving various garnts in her face their chatter filling the air as they debated the rits of each piece.
"Sister Nuo, you would look great in a peach dress," he interjected, his voice calm yet authoritative. The twins paused, turning to him with wide eyes, while Yi Nuo frantically waved her hands.
"No, no, Your Highness, I don’t need any more clothes," she protested, her cheeks flushing with embarrassnt. Unbeknownst to her, her words only fuelled the twins’ excitent. Lian and i had spent years selecting clothes and styling their master like a doll, and now they had a new subject to lavish their attention on.
Xiang Yu couldn’t help but smirk, relieved that for once, he wasn’t the one on the chopping block. He watched as the twins resud their mission with renewed vigour, their eyes sparkling with delight. By the ti they left the shop, Yi Nuo was burdened with two sets of clothes she had no intention of buying.
