"Heh. ’Never had a master since its existence?’ You’ve only been alive for a few years, little one. How dare you say such a thing? I rely took a nap and let you lot co in to reap the benefits for a while. What’s this now? Not only are you ungrateful, but you’re trying to take this mountain from ?"

The ancient voice spoke, a hint of amusent in its tone.

Chen He was furious. In his eyes, the owner of the voice was clearly spouting nonsense and toying with him.

Ever since he had joined the Palace Guard Army, he had never been treated with such contempt.

If not for the uncertainty of the enemy’s strength, he would have charged into the Desperate Mountain Range long ago to drag out the owner of the voice.

But for now, he could only suppress his rage and say, "My cultivation has spanned 6,750 years. Are you sure you want to call a ’little one’?"

"A re six thousand years? That makes you nothing but a snot-nosed kid. Even a fraction of one of my naps lasts longer than that." The ancient voice grew even more amused.

Chen He was left speechless.

’A fraction of a nap is longer than six thousand years? Doesn’t that an he slept for tens of thousands of years in one go?’

’Can’t he at least draft his boasts before spouting them?’

For a Martial Arts Cultivator, the initial Three Refinents only served to strengthen the body, granting a lifespan of a hundred years.

Only at the Purity Realm could one channel the Power of Heaven and Earth, break the limits of mortals, and live for two hundred years.

The Vajra Realm granted five hundred years of life, the Void Grotto Realm a thousand, the Void ditation Realm three thousand, and the Divine Sea Half-Immortal Realm six thousand. Even a true Immortal’s lifespan was only ten thousand years.

Unless one could establish a Venerable Position, ascend to the next level, and break through to an even stronger Realm, ten thousand years was the absolute limit.

Chen He refused to believe that a terrifying existence beyond the Venerable Level would co to a godforsaken place like the Mortal District to take a nap.

’How desperate would soone have to be to do that!’

The only explanation, therefore, was that the owner of the voice was deliberately being mysterious to ss with him.

"Are you showing contempt for my Hall of Envoys, for the Palace Guard Army?" Chen He had already sent a signal, summoning the other mbers of the Palace Guard Army from the North District.

"The Hall of Envoys? What kind of rubbish is that?" The ancient voice gradually turned cold. "Get lost while this old man is still in a good mood. Otherwise, forget you—even if those hypocritical old fools from the Immortal Realm showed up, they wouldn’t get off easy!"

"How audacious!" The owner of the voice had actually dared to insult the great figures of the Immortal Realm. How could Chen He tolerate that? "You’d better crawl out here right now and beg for forgiveness, or else..."

"Or else what?" The ancient voice was now completely frigid.

"Or else I will make you pay the price—complete and utter annihilation of body and soul!" Chen He roared.

As his voice fell, a dead silence descended upon the scene.

The silence stretched on for a long ti. Just as the crowd thought the owner of the voice would compromise, a great laugh echoed from within the Desperate Mountain Range.

"Hahaha! Annihilation of my body and soul? The last ti I heard that phrase, it ca from the mouth of a mad lass. But she was qualified to say it. You are not!"

"So, since you don’t want to leave, you can stay forever."

As he spoke, a giant, illusory hand coalesced from mist, reached out from the depths of the mountain range, and slapped down toward Chen He.

Chen He snorted coldly. Instead of retreating, he advanced, throwing a punch to et the attack.

"Stop!" a thunderous shout ca from the distance.

In the distance, a dozen or so mbers of the Palace Guard Army, also clad in Silver Armor, were rushing over at high speed.

Their leader was a middle-aged man with the gilded words "Divine Master Valley" emblazoned on his chest.

"Senior within, I implore you to show rcy for the sake of the Divine Master Valley!" the middle-aged man cried out.

But in the next second, Chen He—a mber of the Palace Guard Army, a powerful expert who had established his Venerable Position—was swatted by the misty hand and burst apart before he could even display his signature skills. Blood splattered everywhere. Not even a complete corpse remained.

"Chen He!"

The mbers of the Palace Guard Army all cried out in shock.

The leading middle-aged man’s face was a mask of grief and fury.

He had personally ntored Chen He; in a way, Chen He was like a half-disciple to him.

Now that Chen He was dead, he was more devastated than anyone.

In the past, he would have imdiately ordered the summoning of all Immortals in the Hall of Envoys to avenge Chen He.

But now, he didn’t dare.

After receiving Chen He’s distress signal and connecting it with the golden light that had descended from the sky the previous night, he sensed sothing strange about this situation. He had gone to the Guard Army’s archives to look up information on the Desperate Mountain Range.

His search uncovered a shocking piece of history.

According to the records, the Desperate Mountain Range had appeared suddenly over thirty thousand years ago.

Along with it appeared a mysterious old man of boundless power.

The mysterious old man made only a brief appearance, but in that ti, he slaughtered every mber of the Palace Guard Army sent to investigate before vanishing without a trace.

In the thirty thousand years that followed, generation after generation of the Palace Guard Army ca and went, but the old man never appeared again.

If the middle-aged man hadn’t, on a whim, decided to look up the records, he would never have known the Desperate Mountain Range had such a history.

An old monster who had lived for at least thirty thousand years... In terms of seniority, he was likely on par with the Holy Ancestors of the Immortal Realm, or perhaps even higher.

Faced with an expert of this caliber, the middle-aged man felt completely powerless.

Revenge? Out of the question!

"Are you also here to stand up for the dead?" the ancient voice rang out, instantly drenching the middle-aged man in a cold sweat.

"A misunderstanding, Senior. This junior wouldn’t dare." The middle-aged man hurriedly bowed in the direction of the Desperate Mountain Range.

Though confused, the other mbers of the Palace Guard Army were all intelligent enough to follow their leader’s example. They bowed with cupped fists and dared not make a single unnecessary move.

"If you wouldn’t dare, then scram! My mountain range only permits entry to those below the Void ditation Realm!"

"Yes, yes, of course! We’ll leave right away." As if granted a pardon, the middle-aged man led the Palace Guard Army away without a single glance back.

The rest of the crowd looked at each other in utter disbelief.

The Palace Guard Army, who had always presented an image of invincibility and superiority, just... left?

After a long mont, soone in the crowd shouted, "Anyone below the Void ditation Realm can enter! Let’s go treasure hunting! First co, first served!"

And with that, the crowd erupted into a frenzy once more.

They had no concept of what thirty thousand years ant; all they knew was that this was a monuntal opportunity.

...

Deep within the Desperate Mountain Range, the Pig Emperor hid in Mo Qi’s arms, only its head peeking out. Man and pig stared intently at the old man.

’He wants us to go treasure hunting? Is there really such a good thing in this world?’

Mo Qi and the Pig Emperor communicated covertly. They didn’t trust the old man one bit, but there was nothing they could do about it.

After all, he was the one with the bigger fist and greater strength.

"What are you two still standing around for? Go on, hunt for treasure! Are you waiting for this old man to give you an award?" The old man waved his hand, urging them on with a touch of impatience.

He couldn’t wait to see how Mo Qi would perform.

Little did he know that his eagerness only made Mo Qi even more suspicious.

’This old coot hasn’t set so kind of trap, has he?’

’Based on this Emperor’s experience, it’s highly likely!’

’Then what do we do?’

’This Emperor has no solution either. We can only take it one step at a ti, see what this old coot is really up to, and play it by ear.’
