The war has been raging for about two hours now.
Both sides have suffered significant casualties. Moreover, the vampires can ignore fatigue thanks to their Regeneration, while the human forces are gradually succumbing to exhaustion.
Although Alex's buffs provide so relief, allowing them to hold on for now.
Alex's army buffs are truly monstrous.
On this battlefield, where there should be an overwhelming disparity in specs, the only reason the scales are balanced is because of him. While Liora is also a High Human, she doesn't possess command-related skills, so there's no comparison between the two.
"Snipe Lightning!"
Liora lands another perfect sniper shot. However, vampires are incredibly tough, so even a direct hit doesn't an they die instantly.
That said, it does halt their movents for sure.
A vampire struck by Liora's shot gets killed by the warrior facing them.
A nice assist. I open my mouth to praise Liora.
"Well done—"
"—I comnd you, Liora. You have pleased ."
Before I can finish my sentence, the prince—Alex—beside interrupts, cutting off completely. My voice doesn't seem to reach him, so there's no helping it.
But this logic doesn't sit well with Liora.
Radiating raw bloodlust, Liora points her massive scythe directly at the prince.
Both the prince and his guards freeze in place, overwheld by her cold and unrelenting killing intent. While glaring at a nation's representative, the young girl speaks:
"My God was about to praise , but you interrupted. Don't ever speak to or God again."
"…I am a prince, you know…"
"I said, don't speak to ."
"…"
The prince, wearing a monocle, silently nods. Despite being one of the most critical contributors here and just wanting to praise Liora, the prince seems cursed with the "unfortunate attribute."
Maybe it's because I once told Liora, "Don't worry about nobles or rchants—they aren't scary."
Or maybe even before my teaching, she would've reacted the sa to being interrupted.
"Liora, the prince can't hear my voice. Let's be generous and forgive him."
"…Fine… I'll endure it… for you, God-!"
"Liora truly is a good child. Having such a wonderful believer brings joy to my divine heart."
"Yay!"
Liora expresses her excitent with her whole body, trembling slightly with joy.
From an outsider's perspective, it must seem like a scary little girl suddenly started shaking for no reason. Even the prince next to her, looking embarrassed, continues giving out instructions to the troops as if nothing happened.
As we continue guarding the prince while chatting, a massive shadow suddenly blots out the sky.
"It's here."
The prince, Alex, mutters, then barks out an order.
"It's Testant! Mid-line magic battalion, activate barrier-type arts! Protect the frontlines!"
Dozens of magical barriers are deployed.
The shadow that covered the sky belongs to none other than the Blood Dragon Testant.
This wild raid boss was turned into a familiar by Yoyo. It's one of the enemy's trump cards.
Flas begin to escape from Testant's mouth.
A roar erupts, like fireworks exploding.
The dragon breath collides with the magical barriers, shattering them like glass one after another. So of the barriers fail, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
"Dragon breath has a cooldown. Don't falter. We still have a chance. But…"
"It's coming."
As Liora warns, the Blood Dragon Testant charges straight toward us. Alex quickly begins issuing commands to those nearby.
It seems Jack and the others have arrived just in ti.
The prince mutters under his breath:
"Hold your ground until we return."
Above us, the glowing figure of Testant descends—
A sinister castle.
It looks like a throne room, but everything is drenched in blood. The walls and ceiling are stained a dark, ominous black.
The vast space is large enough to fit a dragon, yet it feels oppressive.
Standing in this overwhelming presence, Liora tilts her head in confusion.
"Where is this?"
"So, instead of securing air superiority, you decided to target my life, Ren," the prince, Alex, mutters, sighing as he lazily scans his surroundings.
"This is the trait of a roaming raid boss. It has the ability to freely deploy its Raid Boss Field. To escape, we either survive here for a set amount of ti or…"
"Kill it," I say.
"Impossible," a voice interjects.
"Oh, the Blood Dragon Testant. You're intelligent enough to speak?"
"I will not allow you to et Lady Yoyo. You will die here."
"Spare your drivel."
Testant begins to gather flas in its mouth.
Ah, the classic dragon trope—starting with a dragon breath attack.
Since we're in the Raid Boss Field, it seems its resources are fully replenished, and even cooldowns are bypassed.
The dragon's devastation was unleashed.
But standing against that all-consuming breath was a small dwarven girl who charged forward.
"Block it! [World Goddess's Patience: The World of Patience]!"
Her futuristic armor glead, nullifying the dragon breath with its invincibility effect. As swung her shield with vigor, the breath dissipated without a trace.
Testant's eyes widened in disbelief, with the remnants of his breath leaking from his mouth.
"You nullified my breath...? But my power is—"
"Hoho, who would be foolish enough to block their own vision?"
"What!?"
At so point, Jack Jack had slipped behind Testant. He was already driving stakes into the dragon's flesh. Testant frantically swung his tail, but the old man dodged with split-second precision.
At the sa ti, Liora had started running.
Her destination: Testant—more specifically, its neck.
Sensing the threat, Testant flapped its wings and took to the sky. Likely, being harried by Jack Jack and feeling the danger from Liora's strike had forced its retreat.
Liora's graceful, circular slash cut through empty air.
Once airborne, Testant began gathering magical energy, a clear sign of an impending attack. But there was no way we could let that happen.
Alex's commanding voice echoed across the battlefield.
"Destroy the right wing. —[Mass Chant] [Fireball]!"
"[Resonance Magic]...[Burst Ignis]!"
"[Shining Slash]!"
In perfect synchrony, Alex unleashed large-scale destruction magic, while Tanaka and Hilda delivered precise magical attacks, and Liora executed a sharp cutting spell—all targeting the dragon's wing.
Testant's wing was severed with shocking ease, and its massive body ca crashing down.
The throne room trembled with cracks spreading across the walls.
"You wretched creatures!"
As the enraged Testant roared, Jack Jack unleashed a flurry of slashes. Judging by the curses and bloodied state of Testant, his weapons seed to carry debuff or bleeding effects.
Dodging its tail, Jack Jack leaped to the rear of the dragon once more.
"We have the upper hand," I remarked.
"Yes... God! This is so easy!" Liora chid in cheerfully.
This ti, twenty individuals had been isolated by Testant.
The group consisted of the Independent Alliance's four mbers: Liora, Jack Jack, Hilda, and . Alongside them were Alex's royal guard of fifteen soldiers and Alex himself.
With Liora present, the balance was impeccable.
This strategic team composition was devised by our brilliant tactician, Elder Gano. He apparently had connections with Alex, which led to this collaboration.
It's a testant to Alex's discernnt that he agreed to entrust his life to an enigmatic little girl and her companions upon Gano's recomndation. His extraordinary decision-making has brought him closer to victory today.
We anticipated Testant's tactic of isolating individuals. Enjoy new stories from empire
And defeating it... is one of our assignnts.
"How dare you, you frail humans!"
Testant's wounds had already healed. Such was the power of [Regeneration]. However, due to its enormous size, regenerating lost body parts seed to place a significant strain on its MP.
One of the secrets behind Liora's ability to spam [Regeneration] with ease lies in her petite fra.
"Let's take our ti with this. Considering the upcoming fight against Yoyo, we should save skills with long cooldowns."
"Destroying it isn't necessary...!"
"Let's keep things low," I agreed.
We need to conserve abilities like [Angel Factor], [Dark Legion], and [Life Stock]. These are essential one-ti-use skills for strong enemies.
Since we have such powerful allies this ti, it's best to distribute the burden evenly.
