Yujun’s POV
’You think you won?’ a heartless Chan says to .
His eyes are bright gold as he stares at , he looks even more mad like this, the place where his heart is supposed to be is just a gaping wound.
’I won’ I say in a small voice, and he laughs, loud and long, clutching his stomach as he laughs like a rry criminal and I take a step away from him.
’Yes, you won, you won but here...’ he taps his finger to the side of his forehead and smiles even wider, ’I win’ he says.
I wake up gasping for air to the sound of a crying baby and no Yunah.
With worry, I sit up and rub at my eyes to force myself awake, trying to force away the image of the man that died by my own hand yesterday.
"Ah please" I mutter to kill the headache eating up and at Haeri’s scream, my instincts imdiately kicks in and I sit up to pick her up.
"Hey, what’s wrong my princess?" I ask quietly, holding her in my lap to calm her.
The little baby pushes her fingers into her mouth and starts to suckle on it, the knock on the door distracts for a mont as I look up at the door, I realize it’s locked, "co in" I call.
Yeon mom cos in with a tray of food for and Haeri, it’s a simple porridge breakfast for and a bottle of warm milk for my pup.
"Good morning baby, how are you today?" he asks as it is a normal day and I nod instead of answering, I still can feel the heaviness from last night, and I still haven’t gotten over the dream I just had.
"I brought you two so food" Yeon says and reaches for Haeri, I hand the pup to him, watching as the older male oga smiles down at her.
"Hello princess, I heard your hungry screams from halls" he coos and Haeri coos back at him, already familiar with Yeon.
Yeon makes himself comfortable by sitting on the edge of the bed next to with Haeri feeding from her bottle in his arms.
I fold my legs the way I used to when I get scared, wrapping my arms around it and resting my chin on my knees.
"You’re going to appear at the council in two days" he says bluntly and I blink.
I expected it...but I’m not ready, the death of Chan is still too fresh to stand in of a council and talk about it.
"Pup, you don’t have to be scared of anything" he says casually and I sigh with irritation at his air of nonchalance while I’m breaking apart, "how can I not?" I ask.
"Do you love being imprisoned?" he asks with an angry expression and my head snaps up, "how can you ask that?" I ask him bitterly with tears starting to fill my eyes at the sharpness of my tone.
How?
"My father abused for years, my older sister forced my body to be sold, that man-" I pause to catch my breath, I am yelling, crying and red in the face but Yeon doesn’t flinch, he just stares blankly at .
"That man stole away for days, almost made lose my pup...do you think I love any of that?" I ask him, emphasizing the word ’love’ with all the disgust I feel.
"You sure aren’t acting like it, you have the power to free yourself and you used it and...you’re crying like imprisonnt is your destiny?" Yeon says and the door bursts open.
"Mom" Jaehyun growls as he rushes into the room and Yeon flashes his eyes at his son, warning him to shut up and stay out.
"I want to be free but I’m not a killer" I say, wiping my tear with the back of my hand.
"You’re not a killer, you’re a pathetic and weak fool, would have you have preferred mourning Haeri?" Yeon asks cruelly and my jaw drops open...what?
"MOM" Jaehyun’s roar startles Haeri and she starts to cry, "give my child" I sob weakly.
"No, you want to be weak? Start here, imagine Chan had gotten this baby, then what?" Yeon mom says and I drop my head into my palm, sobbing bitterly as it all cos crashing on .
"You’re being too much" Jaehyun says and holds his mom’s arm, I don’t lift my head even when I sll the suppressed rage of my alpha as he makes his mom leave the room with Haeri.
"Yunah is in heat, if you need her, she is in a room prepared for ogas" Yeon says calmly before walking out of the door.
"I’m sorry" Jaehyun says as he returns to hug my body, "fuck, I’m so sorry" he says and I just sob in his arms.
Do I really let all the bad things happen to ?
"Jaehyun-ah..." I cry his na, I don’t know what I want, I just want him to hold , my heart hurts so much.
Why does it feel this way?
Jaehyun rubs his hand up and down my back, the alpha doesn’t say anything, he just holds till he falls asleep.
Even in his sleep, I can sll the exhaustion on the alpha, I don’t know if he slept at all through the night, but I rest my entire body on him.
There are too many things to worry about, how do I tell Yunah that I asked for her mory to be erased? How do I get over Chan?
I open my eyes when Jaehyun’s breathing has completely evened out, pushing myself up to think, the alpha looks tired and still has on the clothes from last night on.
He faces my storms for without fear, why can’t I do the sa? How long will I let myself be thrown around by everything?
I get out of the room and go to the nursery where I find Yeon sitting in the rocking chair with his hands on his lap.
Haeri is sleeping in her cot.
Yeon looks fragile in a way I’ve never seen before, and it dawns on ...that he is only looking after .
He’s the mother I never had.
With a sniffle, I go to sit on the floor in front of him and rest my head on his lap, the oga rests his hand on my head and when I look up, I see his eyes are blue and swimming with tears.
