In order to make her daughter submit, Xue Hongi had devised a plan by intentionally picking up an empty pesticide bottle, cleaning it, and then filled it with an entire bottle of cola.
As a result, when her daughter managed to scrape together the three hundred thousand, Xue Hongi’s pesticide ruse beca unnecessary.
Now it was ti to demand an additional hundred thousand, and the cola-filled pesticide bottle was ready to take the stage.
Soon, He Yunke brought the cola pesticide bottle from the kitchen.
Just as her daughter was about to leave the house, Xue Hongi quickly unscrewed the bottle cap and wailed, "I can’t live anymore! Can’t live oh!"
"What sin did I commit in my past life to have borne such an unfilial daughter!"
He Yunke feigned concern and said, "Mom, don’t be rash, quickly put down the pesticide. If you drink it, it could be lethal!"
He Gang, having no choice, also had to play along with the drama and said, "Hongi! Put down the pesticide first, let’s talk things out!"
"Let’s pretend we never had that heartless daughter!"
"It’s just a hundred thousand, right? I’ll find the money today, even if it ans selling my blood or kidney."
Hearing the cries from the room, He Xiaohui instinctively turned back and saw her mother holding a bottle of pesticide, its cap already removed.
She stared intently at the bottle, and her hairs stood on end.
"It’s paraquat!"
Paraquat is a type of fast-acting herbicide that is extrely harmful to the human body.
The reason she recognized the pesticide was because of a special incident that had occurred at their school last year.
A female colleague had a fierce argunt with her husband, and in a fit of anger, sohow found a bottle of paraquat. Just one sip and she imdiately felt her life slipping away; it was He Xiaohui who called the ambulance.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctors imdiately perford gastric lavage and administered various fluids, along with all sorts of antidotes and liver-protecting dications. Yet, the colleague didn’t survive three days, becoming disfigured beyond recognition and losing her life despite attaining the beauty of a young teacher.
Afterward, the attending doctor shook his head repeatedly, advising them that paraquat was highly toxic and urged them never to touch it, even if one doesn’t want to live. Because not only is it difficult to save a victim, but the pain is imnse, and the death is gruesoly ugly.
"Mom!"
He Xiaohui was horrified and hurried over, pleading desperately, "This is paraquat, you mustn’t drink it!"
Seeing her daughter approach, Xue Hongi was inwardly pleased, but outwardly she looked imnsely displeased, "You were going to leave, weren’t you? Why do you care if I live or die!"
"Mom, I was wrong, I’m sorry, I really didn’t an to hurt you," He Xiaohui said, tears reddening her eyes, "Peng Ye and I truly love each other, please, please give us your blessing!"
"As for the hundred thousand, I will figure sothing out, a year at most. In one year, I will bring back the money!"
"A year! In a year, how are we supposed to buy your brother’s house?"
Xue Hongi sneered and moved the bottle closer to her mouth, "Unless, you agree to a condition!"
"What condition? As long as it’s not demanding the hundred thousand now, if it’s within my ability, I will agree!" He Xiaohui quickly asked.
Xue Hongi’s lips curled slightly, as she slowly revealed her purpose, "Of course you can do it!"
"You know Xiao Ke’s situation. His credit is bad; he can’t get a loan. Your father and I don’t have stable jobs right now, and our bank statents don’t et the lending criteria."
"You are teaching at Lu County Experintal Primary School, with a stable salary and housing fund."
"Since you can’t co up with the hundred thousand, I won’t force you. The 128-square-ter apartnt in Phoenix Universe City, just buy it in your na and then gift it to Xiao Ke without compensation, using your dowry of three hundred thousand as the down paynt."
He Xiaohui wasn’t foolish; she instantly understood her mother’s intentions: she was being made to shoulder her brother’s housing costs.
"Mom, what about the monthly loan repaynts?"
"The loan repaynts? Naturally, you’d be helping out with them!" Xue Hongi sneered, "What? You expect us to spend our funeral savings?"
"Fuck!"
Mo Han, who had turned back, couldn’t help but curse out loud. He had seen shaless, but this was a level beyond any shalessness he’d known.
First forcing the daughter to pay three hundred thousand as a dowry, then demanding an additional hundred thousand.
Seeing the daughter unable to co up with the money, the mother wanted to use her daughter’s na to buy an apartnt for her son.
Taking the daughter’s dowry money for the son’s down paynt was one thing, but then placing the burden of the monthly repaynts on the daughter was another.
Wasn’t that simply too toxic?
"Mom..."
He Xiaohui was on the brink of collapse, finding this even more unacceptable than having to co up with a hundred thousand.
Her monthly salary was barely three thousand, and even with extra tutoring, it barely exceeded four thousand. In scraping together the three hundred thousand dowry, she had borrowed as much as she could.
One could say she was now drowning in debt.
The mother wasn’t satisfied with just taking her dowry money; she was also ready to saddle her with decades of loan repaynts. If it really ca to that, her life would be ruined.
"Right!"
At that mont, He Yunke, limping, spoke up, "Sis, today you either co up with the hundred thousand, or you buy the apartnt for !"
"It’s up to you to decide!"
Torn between her own marriage and her mother threatening to take her life, He Xiaohui nearly collapsed, wailing in agony and crying with her head in her hands.
