anwhile, Mo Han and Luo Ning were waiting in the quiet area of the police center for a notification.

"Ms. Luo Ning, I have just checked for you,"

the female receptionist addressed them both, speaking indifferently, "Your mother, Yang ifeng, was indeed brought to the police center by our colleague at eleven o’clock yesterday morning."

"The specific reason is involvent in a telecommunication fraud case, and she’s currently under investigation."

Telecommunication fraud?

Upon hearing this, Luo Ning’s vision blurred, and she nearly fainted.

Fortunately, Mo Han reacted quickly, steadying his wife as he asked the receptionist, "Miss, when can my mother-in-law be released?"

The female receptionist replied, "I’m not very certain about that, but it should be soon, I suppose."

"Can we see her then?"

Continuing without betraying any emotion, Mo Han asked, "She didn’t return ho all of last night, and both my wife and I are very worried about her."

"Yes, is it possible to arrange for us to see her?"

Luo Ning had regained her composure from the initial shock, pleading with a humble voice, "Even if it’s just for two minutes, just two minutes would be enough?"

"Sir, miss, I’m really sorry, but we have a policy here that we don’t accept visits before the investigation is concluded,"

the receptionist said truthfully, "You can either continue to wait here or go ho and wait for notification."

After speaking, the receptionist smiled faintly and returned to her workstation.

"Wuu... Wuu..."

Luo Ning could no longer control her emotions and tears stread down her face.

"I’ve told my mom before, I told her not to hang out with those bad friends and play mahjong with them!"

"But she wouldn’t listen, always telling , ’Don’t ddle in adult affairs!’"

"And now, sothing has happened..."

Mo Han sighed softly, patting his wife’s back while consoling her, "Ning’er, don’t be nervous, it’s going to be okay."

"Didn’t that lady over there just say that your mom is here just for an investigation? It will be alright."

"An investigation?" Luo Ning shook her head, weeping pitifully, "Is there an investigation that takes all night?"

"Mo Han, do you know what this place is? This is the custody area of the police center, dedicated to detaining criminals!"

"Mom must have done sothing wrong, and the matter has to be serious!"

It was no wonder Luo Ning was so agitated; she had been observing the comings and goings at the entrance since morning.

In just an hour, she saw seven or eight police cars entering, taking many fierce-looking criminals to the first-floor interrogation room.

The thought of her mother being escorted into a police car in the sa way left her with a lingering fear.

Seeing his wife so anxious, Mo Han felt guilty and could only try his best to comfort her:

"Ning’er, the investigation results aren’t out yet; maybe it’s not as bad as you think."

"I know your mom. Although she’s strict, she doesn’t have the nerve; she wouldn’t get involved in telecommunication fraud..."

"I’m just afraid her bad choice of friends got her used by unsavory people!"

Luo Ning looked up, speaking earnestly, "My mom is too naive and greedy for money; she’s easily trapped."

"I guess this ti, it must be one of her so-called friends who tempted her, saying there’s an easy big-money project, and that’s how she got duped!"

"No! When she gets out, I must give her a good talking to!"

"If she dares to play mahjong again, I will disown her!"

As she spoke, she yawned.

Last night, although she accompanied her daughter to sleep, she did not get a wink of rest.

Seeing the pain in her eyes, Mo Han spoke gently, "Ning’er, why don’t you go back and rest? I’ll wait here. If there’s any news, I’ll notify you imdiately."

"No! You were also busy all of last night, so if anyone needs a rest, it’s you,"

Luo Ning said dismissively, in a tone that brooked no argunt, "Mo Han, you go ho now! Right now, this instant!"

"If you don’t go back to rest, don’t bother coming to my room again!"

With that, she stood up and pushed Mo Han towards the exit.

Mo Han looked rather helpless and could only sigh, leaving the hall at his wife’s insistence.

The electric bike had been ridden all night, and by the morning of their arrival at the police center, the battery had been completely drained.

Mo Han had no choice but to hail a cab to get back.

In the car, after the taxi driver confird the destination, he turned on the radio and drove leisurely, as usual.

Mo Han, indeed feeling tired, was about to take a short nap when the car’s radio broadcasted a piece of news.

"Zhu Xiuli, the operating vice director of Zhu Group of our city, has made an apology statent on various news dia channels as of yesterday."

"Previously, Ms. Zhu expressed her lack of understanding of Chinese dicine culture and had made so questioning remarks that caused distress to many practitioners of Chinese dicine and the general public..."

Hmm?

Zhu Xiuli?

Mo Han then rembered, at the last hotel banquet with the heads of the Four Great Families because of the Qiankun Elixir, he had a conflict with this young girl Zhu Xiuli and even made a wager with her.

Speaking of which, the billion in his account was given to him by old man Zhu Wenjin in exchange for the dicine.

He shook his head, a derisive smile in his heart.

Chinese dicine has a long and profound history; how could Zhu Xiuli, who had studied abroad a few years, question it?
