Xia Xin sighed, leaned back in the chair, and said, "You have no idea how I’ve struggled through this period."
"Can’t smoke, can’t drink, I’ve practically beco a model of pure abstinence, without desires," she said. "Even now, if three muscular hunks stood in front of , I’d be completely indifferent."
"If my body doesn’t recover after all this, hasn’t my suffering been in vain!"
Zhang Hao looked up at her, "It hasn’t been in vain, at least the test results are looking good. Keep it up."
As soon as Xia Xin heard the words ’keep it up,’ she felt totally stunned, "How much longer do I need to keep this up? You have no idea how much I want a drink, sothing nice and cool."
Zhang Hao frowned, feeling that Xia Xin really didn’t take good enough care of her body.
"You’re coughing up blood, yet you still want to drink. Do you think you can just carry on recklessly because your body has recovered a bit?"
"I’m telling you, that’s not going to work. If you don’t listen to , go find another doctor," he said.
"It’ll save the trouble of worrying about you. But if you trust , then please listen to what I have to say."
For so reason, Xia Xin felt she had no ability to argue in front of Zhang Hao.
"Alright, alright, I’ll listen to you. It’s utterly impossible to deal with you. I’m telling you, if it were any other doctor, I would have walked away by now—it’s only because of you."
"Why do you give such preferential treatnt? Why don’t you listen to other doctors?" Zhang Hao asked.
Adjusting the stray hairs on her forehead, Xia Xin said seriously, "Isn’t it because none of the other doctors are as handso as you?"
"The way I see it, my principles follow my eyes. As long as you’re good-looking, I’ll follow your advice."
Caught in her earnest gaze, Zhang Hao suddenly didn’t know what to say.
"You still have the prescription I wrote for you last ti, right? Get another course of that dication, and then co back for a follow-up," he instructed.
Xia Xin thought Zhang Hao would have more to say to her, but it ended so abruptly.
"Is that all? Shouldn’t you be giving more instructions?" Xia Xin asked.
Zhang Hao glanced at her, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly, "Aren’t you following the doctor’s orders? Keep abstaining from smoking and drinking, get to bed early and rise early, keep exercising, and don’t forget to take your dication."
"If your check-up results are even better next ti, I’ll repeat all of this for you."
Xia Xin was dumbfounded by Zhang Hao’s approach and was ntally formulating how to retort when,
Zhang Hao said, "If you’ve got nothing else, you better leave quickly. The hospital isn’t the cleanest place, and we shouldn’t delay the next patient’s appointnt."
Even a fool could tell that he was trying to send her away, but Xia Xin didn’t make it difficult for Zhang Hao.
After all, he was at work, and even if there were any personal grievances, she couldn’t take up his work ti.
"Fine, I’ll do as you say and keep it up for a while longer. But tell , do I look good today?" she asked.
"Last ti, when I left, I really did ask your leaders if there was anything I could do in the hospital. Guess what, I actually found sothing."
When Zhang Hao heard this, he looked surprised, "What position? Janitorial work or sothing?"
"Janitorial work? Your hospital recently set up an account that needs daily promotional content. Although I haven’t done this before," she said,
"I find it quite interesting. If all goes well, I can start working next week. Then you and I will be colleagues."
Zhang Hao really didn’t know about all this, "How’s the pay compared to your previous job, more or less?"
Xia Tian made an ’ayya’ sound, "Of course, salary can’t compare to my previous job, but who asked to want to co work here."
"Besides, I know that only by doing this can I spend more ti with you and have a chance to win you over."
Without giving Zhang Hao ti to react, Xia Xin stood up and left.
Watching her receding figure, Zhang Hao once again fell into deep thought.
What on earth is going on, why is she pursuing him?
Didn’t she know he had a girlfriend? Zhang Hao had never even considered such a deliberate transgression could happen to him.
The next patient ca in, and Zhang Hao quickly composed himself.
He couldn’t risk giving the next patient an incorrect diagnosis, but Xia Xin hadn’t been gone long.
Zhang Hao received a ssage from her while he was looking at a patient’s case.
Zhang Hao didn’t reply imdiately; instead, he waited until his lunch break to open the ssage and glance at it.
It was a selfie from Xia Xin. To Zhang Hao, such a photo was commonplace, and he didn’t think much of it.
However, because Zhang Hao ignored her, Xia Xin felt a flicker of anger.
Even though she had found a new job and her daily habits had changed considerably,
her temper and character were still as unyielding as ever.
Realizing that Zhang Hao had no intention of interacting with her, Xia Xin resorted to her old thod
to ensure Zhang Hao would take notice of her existence.
As for him, Zhang Hao’s attitude remained as indifferent as always. But this ti, Xia Xin knew what kind of car he drove.
When Zhang Hao finished work and went to the parking lot, he found his car marked with a lipstick-drawn angry face.
Thankfully, there were no words like "faithless jerk" or anything like that.
Mr. Zhang, the head of the internal dicine departnt, just happened to be passing by and stopped in front of Zhang Hao’s car.
"Looks like the serial vandal has visited our hospital again. Last ti it was my car that suffered; this ti it’s yours. Lucky it’s just lipstick—if it were paint, that would be a real hassle,"
Clearly, Mr. Zhang had experience with such incidents.
Zhang Hao offered an apologetic smile, "Luckily it’s lipstick, which can be wiped off easily."
Zhang Hao took out a wet wipe from his car and rubbed off the caricature.
In the process, his fingers got sared with lipstick.
Looking at the red stains on his hands, Zhang Hao had to fold back and return to the hospital.
He found a restroom on the ground floor to clean his hands before going back to his car.
There was no need to check the surveillance to know who was behind this; it was obvious to anyone that it must have been Xia Xin.
But he couldn’t condone such misconduct.
To prevent this from happening again, Zhang Hao decided to give Xia Xin a chance to make ands.
He located Xia Xin in the chat list and sent her a ssage.
"If you doodle on my car again, I will definitely preserve the evidence,"
"The hospital’s parking lot is under surveillance from all sides. Your actions will be recorded. If you don’t want to end up in a police station, I hope there won’t be a next ti."
After sending the ssage, Zhang Hao didn’t wait for her reply. He started the car and drove ho.
No sooner had Zhang Hao entered the house than he heard He Qianhui shouting, "Hurry up and co help , I can’t hold it anymore!"
The voice was coming from the kitchen, and without a second thought, Zhang Hao rushed in without even changing his shoes.
He saw He Qianhui holding a soup pot.
"What are you doing?" asked Zhang Hao.
He Qianhui replied, "I’m making stock. I went to the market today and saw they were selling marrow bones."
"Thinking of how you like to use stock for cooking noodles, I bought a couple. I’ve been boiling this pot of soup all afternoon."
