So, she had called over Zhang Hao overnight to take a look at what exactly the problem was.
After understanding the whole matter, Zhang Hao finally t the female businesswoman.
Due to the general stereotype towards female bosses, he had thought she would have a masculine appearance.
At least, her face would look fierce, yet upon eting her, the businesswoman could be described as still possessing charm.
"Xiao He, is this your boyfriend?" the woman asked.
He Qianhui pulled Zhang Hao forward: "Yes, he is the disciple of a well-known traditional Chinese dicine doctor; maybe he will be able to find a way."
Zhang Hao, who had been mostly silent, could clearly sense that the businesswoman was highly skeptical of his abilities.
A doctor so young, she feared, likely didn’t have true skill.
"Xiaohui, thank you for wanting to help , but I’ve already made an appointnt with a specialist for the child. We’ll go after dawn."
Seeing she was being tactfully refused, He Qianhui wasn’t upset. After all, this was her own wishful thinking, and she had been prepared for this outco before making the decision.
As expected, the result was exactly as she had anticipated.
"After such a long ti without finding the cause of the child’s illness, it seems the doctors you’ve found are even more incompetent." Zhang Hao suddenly spoke up.
The businesswoman’s brows, which had previously been relaxed, furrowed at once.
"What are you implying, that the doctors I’ve found are not as good as you?"
Although Zhang Hao had not said it so directly, that was more or less the implication.
Just then, intermittent crying could be heard from the second floor of the villa, and the businesswoman turned and entered the house without looking back.
Taking this opportunity, Zhang Hao followed her inside and reached the second floor just in ti to see the woman enter a room, the crying sound also coming from therein.
"Mommy’s here, don’t cry, go to sleep," she soothed.
Observing the woman cradling a seven- or eight-year-old girl, the child seed frail and malnourished.
Zhang Hao approached, and the woman, not daring to shoo him loudly, kept using her eyes to warn him not to co too close.
Maintaining a relatively safe distance, Zhang Hao, regardless of whether she was willing, picked up the girl’s hand.
His fingertips lightly touched the girl’s slender wrist, and soon Zhang Hao’s expression grew grave.
He said in a very soft voice, "With the child sick like this, you still have the nerve to talk about finding her a specialist."
The woman’s expression remained unchanged, as she continued to comfort the child until she fell asleep before rising from the bed.
Exiting the bedroom one after the other, the woman closed the door behind her, ensuring not to disturb the child, and then confronted him about what he really wanted.
"I don’t want anything particular, I’m just an ordinary doctor. Right now, I can identify the cause of your child’s illness and prescribe the right treatnt," he stated.
Upon hearing this, the businesswoman’s expression changed imdiately.
Just then, He Qianhui ca upstairs, and the businesswoman instinctively embraced Zhang Hao, leaning into his chest as she silently wept.
Faced with this sudden gesture, Zhang Hao reacted instinctively and pushed the woman away.
"Xiaohui, let’s go, we’re not needed here anymore," said Zhang Hao, and Qianhui had not even grasped his aning.
Yet Zhang Hao was decisive, and by the ti the two of them were out of the villa, she asked what the matter was.
Zhang Hao looked back at the villa, smiling and saying, "What else could it be? I’ll tell you back at the hotel."
Once at the hotel, He Qianhui’s curiosity had grown wildly.
"Tell quickly, what exactly happened? I’ve been dying of curiosity this whole way."
Seeing how anxious He Qianhui was, Zhang Hao, on the contrary, took his ti, not in any rush.
"It’s already past three in the morning; you haven’t rested all night. Don’t you feel tired?"
She should have been tired when she called Zhang Hao over.
But at that ti, her eyes and heart were full of concern for the businesswoman’s daughter.
Even if she felt tired, she had to wait for Zhang Hao to arrive.
By now, after all this hassle, any drowsiness had long since passed.
Even if they went out for breakfast shortly, it wouldn’t be a problem.
But what mattered more to her now was to find out what was really going on with the businesswoman’s daughter’s health.
Why couldn’t any of the experts or professors diagnose the illness?
Zhang Hao only took her pulse and knew what the issue was.
"What do you an ’only took her pulse’? I am a disciple of a renowned traditional Chinese dicine practitioner."
"If I couldn’t diagnose sothing like this, then I might as well not be a doctor."
"You should look into the businesswoman’s background, especially her husband."
"If her daughter has always been unwell, logically, her husband should be at ho. But it’s so late, and he’s not here. Don’t you find that odd?"
While talking, Zhang Hao had already taken off his clothes, planning to take a shower in the bathroom.
He wanted to wash off the sweat from the night’s ordeal with a hot shower and relax.
He Qianhui, still engrossed in what Zhang Hao had just said, responded with bewildernt, "What does that have to do with her husband?"
"They’re businesspeople, perhaps her husband’s business is even bigger."
"But to think of it in a worse light, there might be so problems causing them to divorce."
Zhang Hao poked his head from behind the bathroom door with a laugh, "In my opinion, it’s likely that her husband has passed away."
"And he must have known what sort of person his wife was, so he took precautions."
"The girl is simply suffering from malnutrition and incomplete developnt."
"As long as she can gradually make up for the nutritional deficiency, there’s no big issue."
"Even an ordinary family can afford to eat at a few tis a week and have an egg at every al."
"With her wealth, do you think she would be reluctant to buy things like eggs and milk that nourish the body?"
Following Zhang Hao’s line of thought, a chill ran down He Qianhui’s spine.
"You’re suggesting this woman is deliberately making the child this way for so ulterior motive."
"Exactly, you told before that a normal person would surely take their child to the hospital first if they knew they were unwell."
"Are you implying she and that private doctor have so shady relationship, an affair that can’t withstand the light of day?"
If everything was as He Qianhui suggested, it might explain why the child had always been unhealthy.
The child belonged to a previous husband, and if that husband had left a sizable inheritance, the child would be the first in line to inherit.
If the relationship between the ex-wife and the deceased husband wasn’t as solid as one would assu, the child could be a source of resentnt.
At this thought, a cold shiver ran down He Qianhui’s spine, and she suddenly felt a tenderness for the child, even though they had no direct relationship.
"So, what should we do? The child is innocent," He Qianhui said.
In fact, Zhang Hao didn’t have much of an opinion about this matter; he mainly thought it unbelievable that such lodramatic stories, the stuff of TV dramas, could actually happen in real life.
