Wendy did not know where Christian was headed, but she was not bothered by it.

After they got off the plane, she had been with Christian’s n, and they arrived at the hospital.

This hospital was not anything like a usual hospital. On the outside, it looked like a regular house. The interior of the house was also like a place where people lived in.

Wendy did not say anything and rely followed behind the n leading. While keeping an eye on Zen’s condition, she was trying to notice the details of the place.

She was within Christian’s control but being aware of her surroundings would be beneficial as she could attempt to escape if an opportunity ca about. However, what was more important now was for Zen’s condition to be stabilized.

Wendy followed them across the entire house. At the very end, soone pressed a button on the wall, and a tunnel appeared. It was the first ti Wendy had been in a place like this. She had seen hidden tunnels in TV dramas but never in real life.

Wendy’s heartbeat raced as she felt petrified. Given no choice, she followed the n down to the basent.

The basent was lit, unlike those in TV dramas that were usually dark. The flight of stairs down to the basent was long. Once they reached the bottom, it was a completely new place. The basent was huge, and it housed much dical equipnt. It looked like a legitimate hospital.

Zen was still unconscious as she was placed on the operating table. So n in white coats were already in the basent as if they had been waiting for their arrival. One of the n in white coats walked over and peered at them. He then said sothing in an English dialect.

Wendy had stayed in Rheinsville City for many years. Naturally, she could understand what he had said. After which, Wendy turned to the doctor who was with them all along and said, "They want to speak to you regarding Zen’s condition."

The doctor was startled. He was still in a state of shock from what was happening. As a doctor, it was common to be under high stress. But to be in this circumstance was mind-blowing to him.

Only when he heard Wendy’s voice did his mind co back to reality. Wendy pursed her lips and whispered to the doctor, "How proficient are you in this English dialect?

Can you communicate well in it?"

If he was not fluent in the English dialect, Wendy could help to translate for him.

Under usual circumstances, English should not be an issue for doctors. They would have to read through many dical journals and white papers in English. It took a while for the doctor to get his senses back, and he nodded to Wendy’s question only after a mont. He was, after all, a Ph.D. holder. And it would be necessary for him to understand English otherwise he would not have been able to advance much in his career.

Seeing his nod in response to her question, Wendy heaved a sigh of relief and gestured him to go over. Though the doctor was terrified, he could only follow as he was told in this situation.

Wendy stood out of the way as she gazed at Zen, who was on the operating table.

She could hear the doctors conversing about Zen’s condition and discussing how to treat her injury. Wendy felt more at ease as she listened in to the doctors’ conversation. Zen’s condition was not fatal. There was a slight infection, but it could be brought under control easily. It was not a life-threatening situation for Zen.

Though the place was in the basent, Wendy could tell that this compound was an important dical base for Christian. The dications were sufficiently available in the basent, and the doctors got busy imdiately tending to Zen’s wound.

...

After more than half an hour, the two doctors stopped.

Wendy walked over and asked them, "What’s the situation like now?"

"The situation has stabilized, but Ms. Tanner’s leg is injured quite seriously. She might need so ti to recover.

"Right now, we don’t know for sure if it would recover fully," the doctor answered.

Wendy nodded.

This ant that Zen’s life wasn’t in danger, but there was a possibility that her leg might not recover fully. She might even beco crippled.

"But don’t worry, once her body has recovered more, there would still be a high chance of her being able to walk normally as long as she follows the instructions and undergoes physiotherapy," the doctor comforted.

Wendy humd softly as she nodded before asking, "Approximately, when would she be awake?"

"We’ve given her so anesthetic, so she would probably wake up once the effects have died down. It would take around two hours or so," the doctor said.

"Thank you." Wendy nodded again.

"Erm..." The doctor looked around before asking in a nervous and afraid tone, "Do I continue to stay here? Or do I..."

The doctor hadn’t finished his sentence, but Wendy understood what he ant.

Wendy had indeed done him wrong by dragging this doctor down and making him co to Rheinsville City with them.

"You probably only can stay here for the ti being." Wendy couldn’t even leave herself, so there was no way for her to help him either. "But you should be safe here."

Just as the doctor was about to say sothing, footsteps could be heard from above.

Afterward, Christian appeared.

Christian smiled slightly before saying, "Whether or not you would be safe depends on whether you would listen to my instructions."

"You couldn’t even threaten using Zen. Did you think that you could do it using him?" Wendy knew what Christian ant, but she couldn’t always be under Christian’s control. Otherwise, Christian would always threaten her. "His dical skills are pretty decent. You can keep him and use him if you want.

"If you don’t want him around, then just be kind and release him. But you can forget it if you want to use him to threaten . We don’t have much of a relationship."

"You guys brought him over, so wouldn’t you feel guilty if he died in my hands?"

Christian asked.

"I am." Wendy blinked and looked at the man in front of him before saying, "But I think Michael would make sure that his family is compensated enough."

Her words were very clear.

Christian smiled as he took two steps forward and reached out to caress Wendy’s face, but Wendy knocked his hand away harshly before he could even touch her.

Not only did Christian not get angry, but his smile also deepened as he uttered, "As expected of the Wendy I know."

Wendy wanted to roll her eyes at Christian’s words.

"Wendy, your fate is in my hands now, so I don’t have to use anyone to threaten you. You have no way of going against ."

Christian then confidently and coldly said, "I have enough patience to wait for you to fall in love with . But my patience is limited as well. I don’t wish to wait too long."

"You’ve already started dreaming even though it’s still dayti." Wendy would never fall for soone like Christian.

"Heh..." Christian smiled coldly before saying, "Your tongue is as sharp as ever, but it doesn’t matter. Let’s go and eat first."

Afterward, Christian turned around to walk out, but he realized that Wendy didn’t follow him.

...

"You’re not eating?" Christian turned around, and as he had expected, Wendy hadn’t moved at all.

"I’m not hungry." Wendy didn’t want to eat with Christian. "I want to wait here for Zen to wake up."

"You’re not hungry?" Christian seed to see through Wendy as he sneered and asked, "Are you really not hungry or do you not want to eat with ?"

Wendy blinked and decided not to lie anymore as she looked directly at Christian and said, "I don’t want to eat with you."

She had been on the plane for more than 10 hours and hadn’t eaten anything, so of course, she was already hungry.

But eating with Christian was like torture to her.

"Are you sure? If you don’t eat now, you’ll have to wait till tomorrow to eat."

Christian’s gaze landed on Wendy’s belly as his eyes darkened. He said coldly, "You can stay hungry, but can the baby in your belly go without food? You better not beg when the ti cos."

Wendy touched her belly subconsciously.

He was right. She could choose not to eat, but her baby couldn’t.

Her eyes sunk as she felt weirdly heavy.

Seeing how Wendy was, Christian knew what she was going to choose in the end as he humd coldly and left without saying anything more.

Wendy took a deep breath before walking after Christian.

"Then...then what about ?" the doctor standing behind Wendy asked.

"Co along," Wendy replied.

The more the rrier. At least she wouldn’t have to face Christian alone.

Therefore, the three of them ate together.

They were eating at the cafeteria above the basent.

The residential area above was just a normal house. It had a dining area, a living room, and bedrooms.

Wendy didn’t dig into the food imdiately but just stared coldly at it.

The food on the table were all Chinese dishes, which were her favorite.

Seeing that Wendy hadn’t started to eat, Christian imdiately knew what she was worried about.

He had a bite of food first before saying, "I didn’t poison or put anything in the food.

You can just dig in."

Wendy and the doctor only dared to eat after seeing Christian eat.

The doctor had already been hungry for a while, but Christian looked at him coldly when he saw him take the chopsticks.

It scared the doctor so much that he imdiately put it back and lowered his head.

"Eat at the side!" Christian demanded coldly.

The doctor was so terrified that he imdiately took his bowl and ran out to eat, not even daring to take any other food.

Now, only Christian and Wendy were left on the dining table.

Christian took so food and placed it in Wendy’s bowl.

His tone seed to beco gentler as he said, "These are your favorites. You should eat."

Seeing the extra food in her bowl, Wendy imdiately took them with her chopsticks and threw them in the bin.

Wendy’s actions obviously angered Christian.

He controlled his emotions and took so food for her again.

And again, Wendy threw the food in the bin.

Christian suddenly stood up and snatched Wendy’s bowl. "Don’t eat if you don’t want to!"

Afterward, he threw Wendy’s bowl in the bin.

"Let’s see how long you can stay stubborn!" Christian then loudly shouted, "Take the food away!"

Wendy watched as the food were all taken away.

She had been initially hungry, but now, her hunger worsened.

But there was no way she was going to beg Christian.

Wendy endured her hunger and headed to the basent without saying anything else.
