"We’ve sent people to look, but there’s no news yet."

"Find him!" Damien Lancaster raised his head and gritted his teeth as he uttered these three words.

Julian Jacobs lowered his head, feeling the murderous intent emanating from Damien Lancaster was terrifying, as if he wished to tear the driver apart.

Julian, of course, dared not delay, imdiately making a call to expedite the search.

...

Every mont waiting outside the ergency room was torturous.

In a secluded corner, a tall and striking figure stood, unwittingly finishing several packs of cigarettes.

As dawn broke, the man lifted his somber eyes, but the ergency room doors remained closed.

Zachary Lancaster rushed over and saw Damien, standing outside the ergency room, covered in injuries and looking distraught. Even Zachary’s usual carefree expression was interrupted by seriousness for the first ti.

He tentatively called out softly, "Bro?"

Damien seed not to hear.

Zachary glanced at Julian Jacobs, giving him a signalling look.

The two stepped aside, and Zachary asked with a cold expression, "What happened last night?"

Julian bowed his head, "It’s a long story."

"Is my sister-in-law the one inside?"

"Yes."

Zachary frowned, "Long story short, what exactly happened last night?"

Julian quickly gathered his thoughts and recounted the main events.

After listening, Zachary looked at his unmoving brother, like a sculpture, pursing his lips for a long ti before uttering, "Serves him right."

Julian looked at Zachary in disbelief; Zachary raised an eyebrow, "Doesn’t it serve him right?"

Julian shrugged.

He also felt there was so truth to that... considering the incident five years ago, his mother passed away while her husband was celebrating his first love’s birthday — anyone would be suffocated.

Ivy Sumrs wanting to leave was perfectly understandable.

At this mont, Julian received a call from his subordinates; the hit-and-run driver had been found.

Julian approached Damien Lancaster; facing his stern and imposing boss, he didn’t dare entertain thoughts of him getting what he deserved.

"Sir, the driver has been found; he fled the scene but has already turned himself in."

Damien said nothing.

Julian hesitated, "Sir, should we continue the investigation?"

"Investigate!"

Just dismissing it as a hit-and-run and sending him to jail was too simple.

As soon as he spoke, the doors of the ergency room slowly opened, and a doctor erged.

This operation was led by the chief surgeon.

The person coming out was the chief surgeon.

Seeing the chief, the words Damien wanted to say got stuck in his throat.

He wanted to ask how Ivy Sumrs was.

But he was afraid of hearing the words "failed rescue and death."

In the end, it was Zachary who stepped forward and asked, "How is my sister-in-law?"

The chief sighed, "The car accident caused such severe injuries; why was she brought in so late? Was her life not important?"

Was her life not important?

Ivy Sumrs was just risking her life to escape from him, wasn’t she?

Thinking of this, Damien’s expressionless face suddenly let out a laugh.

The chief, Julian, and Zachary stared at him in disbelief, as if they were looking at a monster, not realizing that the laugh carried bitterness, self-mockery, helplessness...

Too many emotions were mixed together, a sourness surged in his throat, making it difficult to breathe.

Silence for a mont.

Zachary looked at Damien, reached out and patted his shoulder, "Bro..."

Damien asked, "What’s her current condition?"

The chief deliberated for a mont, "She hasn’t escaped danger yet; she needs to be monitored for a few days."

Damien lifted his eyelids, "Will she die?"

Will she die?

No one could say for sure; if her condition worsened later, it was hard to tell, and no one dared to provide a definite answer.

Damien understood.

Ivy Sumrs remained unconscious and was taken to the intensive care unit.

Damien stood quietly outside, looking at the woman inside through the transparent glass window, hearing her words before she fell unconscious.

Each word pierced his heart.

Damien’s phone kept ringing, again and again, and on the seventh ring, he finally took it out of his pocket to answer.

Rachel Shaw asked worriedly, "Damien, what happened? I saw the news."

Last night’s commotion was significant; soone had taken videos, and soon the dia reported that Lancaster Group’s president, Mr. Damien Lancaster, was suspected of being targeted for revenge.

Attached was a photo of Damien in a confrontation outside the airport.

"You called so many tis just for this?"

Damien’s voice was cold and fierce, scaring Rachel into softening her tone, "Damien, I’m worried about you..."

Rachel hadn’t finished speaking when the call was already cut off.

On the other end, Rachel stared at the disconnected line, trembling uncontrollably.

Imdiately after, Damien received another call; it was Ella Morgan, who demanded, "Mr. Lancaster, when will Sophie be returned to ?"

"Sophie has already been brought back to her ward."

"The ward? There’s no one there!"

"Sir, there’s a problem." Julian ran over quickly.

Damien turned to Julian, who breathlessly said, "Sophie is missing. This morning when the nurse went to change her dressing, Sophie wasn’t in her ward."

Damien frowned, "Did you search the vicinity?"

"We’ve already sent people to look."

Damien turned back to glance at Ivy Sumrs; whether Sophie was her daughter remained unanswered.

Both Sophie and Ivy showed no issues during last night’s test.

As for Rachel’s words, he didn’t trust her as much now.

Damien gritted his teeth, "Get everyone searching."

"Sir, I’m worried Sophie might have been kidnapped again."

Damien’s face was taut, "Where did the two people who brought Sophie back last night go?"

"They assud that after bringing Sophie back, the hospital would take care of her, and Sophie didn’t want them staying, so they left first."

One problem hadn’t settled before another arose; Damien pursed his lips and headed toward the surveillance room, making a call, "My child is missing. I need to check the surveillance footage."

By the ti Damien arrived in the surveillance room, they already had the footage queued up.

Because Damien had said it was his child, the hospital took it very seriously.

In the surveillance room, Damien’s hawk-like eyes were fixed on the screen, which clearly showed Rachel Shaw visiting Sophie.

Rachel Shaw!

Damien narrowed his eyes dangerously, instructing, "Pull up the footage from after that."

Giving the instructions, Damien left soone to monitor the screen, striding out himself.

anwhile, in Rachel’s hospital room, she was both happy about Ivy Sumrs’ potential death and anxious about Damien’s attitude toward her.

After these events, Damien was already deeply disappointed in her; even without Ivy Sumrs, she still faced a crisis.

As she pondered her next move, the door was kicked open.

Damien strode in.

Seeing Damien, Rachel’s face instantly lit up with joy.

She hadn’t expected Damien to co looking for her at this ti.

"Damien..." she began, but her neck was suddenly gripped by the man’s large hand.

Rachel hadn’t even reacted when the force on her neck seed ready to strangle her.

Damien’s voice was shadowy as he asked, "Rachel Shaw, what did you do to Sophie again? Where is she?"
