Enjoy the fresh air she did!

After simring down, Arabella still held her knees to her chest and sniveled between breaths.

Eric sat down by her side, looking mostly into her eyes, amused by whatever thought coursed his mind.

"You know, the last ti I saw those eyes in front of I...," he cleared his throat when the young woman turned to him.

"My great grandfather Abel during the war, yes... I know the story," she squished her mouth and nose against her legs.

"Right! You do! I knew that, of course," he chuckled.

"How did you know?" her voice remained brittle.

"Well, let us just say that the dead do keep tabs on the living," he nodded.

"I think I visited this place before, but the last ti I did. I saw my mother," she humd, her eyes drifting back to the grass that danced to the sweet breeze’s whims, "Can I see her again?"

"Unfortunately, I do not get to choose who sees who," Eric shook his head, but kept a warm smile on, "We only answer the callings that reach our ears in the beyond and we co running,"

Persephone was right...

Eric was almost every bit similar to Edgar. Their smiles, the way they knew how to sweeten their deep timbres.

She was also right about the fact that Silas had nearly nothing of his father... Well, nearly.

"Do you know everything that has happened since you... You know," she could not finish her question.

In response, Eric tilted his head to the side, looking pensive, "Hmmm... I don’t know how to explain it. If you ask to recite the story of the happenings since I last shut my eyes, I probably couldn’t do it, but if you cite a specific incident that occurred, mory will serve it," he smiled.

"I really am sorry," she hid her face.

"Why should a precious little thing like you be sorry?"

"As we speak, Silas is dangling over the ground of a sombre prison cell by nothing but sharp hooks that pierce his flesh," she wept, "Had I not co to his life, none of it would have happened! And when I had the chance to communicate with him, I did not! I didn’t... I-"

"I saw him smile for the first ti since he was a child," Eric’s voice grew so faint, so smooth..., "He faced you when that happened,"

"Was it worth all of the pain and grief I brought him?" her figure crumpled on itself further.

"Only he can answer that question, but... I wouldn’t worry. I think I know exactly what his response will be and besides, I know you will get him out of it," the man nodded.

That got her full attention, her teary eyes locking onto him, "How?"

"I just know you will,"

After that, the two of them sat in silence for a mont, taking the air in. Arabella simply brought her gaze back to the ground.

He knew she would get him out of it, but how?

Never mind that, were they in limbo? If yes, then how co she traveled there?

The last ti she saw her mother it was because Katherine had literally killed her and the only reason death did not claim her soul was Silas’ blood.

So, if she wasn’t dead as Eric told her, then how? Why?

"You said you thought you’d find your son," she half asked.

"I could’ve sworn I heard his voice calling ," he stared ahead at nothing in particular.

When she sat with her mother, Silas did co there, and he wasn’t injured or dead either.

He had sohow found his way there. Was the sa happening to her?

"But you told that Silas wasn’t dead?"

"If he was dead, he would have simply joined ," he nodded.

Then where was he? Was she the one intruding on their eting that ti around?

However, no matter how much tossing and turning that idea in her mind she did, things always ca back to the sa question; how was she supposed to get him out of there?

"What am I supposed to do?" she murmured.

Instead of replying, Eric looked at her through narrowed eyes while biting his lips, "Would you call father? Just once?"

"I...," that stunned her into silence for a good mont, "That title goes to my biological father, I am afraid,"

"But you call my wife mother," he pouted like a child.

Silas too had childish tendencies from ti to ti but never was so blatant about them.

"Oh, yes. I called her mother because I was much closer to my biological mother and called her mama instead. I...," her tone dimd, "I was never as close with my father. I am sorry,"

"Ahh!" he pushed a sigh and chuckled, "Don’t worry yourself with that too much!" his hand went back to patting her head.

So, warm and soft it was, providing the safety her actual father should have offered for all those years.

In a flash, his deanor shifted as well, growing more solemn again, "I can’t tell you what to do. I just know that you will be the one to save him," after a short pause during which he picked a fist full of grass, "He does not belong here either, you know. He shouldn’t spend too long lingering around these parts. Otherwise, he might get stuck,"

There was no use in asking again. Eric had already told her he had no idea how she would do it. Only that she would.

Arabella looked around them for a trace of anything, but nothing else was. No one else walked those parts.

Silas remained nowhere to be found, but all that mattered was the fact that he was stuck in that limbo where he did not belong.

Out of the blue, the breeze grew stronger and colder, putting more weight against her body which forced her to curl further inside his vest.

"I am afraid our ti together for now is reaching its end," he stared ahead, eyebrows furrowed, "You are being summoned back from whence you ca,"

"No! No! Please, I don’t want to go back to that place! Please don’t let them take !" she cried and clung to his arm.

"Worry not," he rubbed a soothing hand over her back, "This one too shall pass,"
