226: Chapter 214: Leading the Disaster East 226: Chapter 214: Leading the Disaster East Having beco accustod to achieving things through idle talk, they were reluctant to use actual force.

Gao Yi had never expected that empty threats could be effective, but regardless of why, since it worked, they might as well get on the plane.

He had never ridden the NH-90 utility helicopter before.

From the mont Gao Yi boarded the helicopter until it soared into the sky, he wondered if there was so trap waiting for him.

But when he saw the helicopter truly intent on sending them off like banishing a plague, Gao Yi finally felt at ease.

It was indeed like dispatching a plague.

Spain hoped they would get as far away as possible, preferably all the way to the UK to stir up a storm on British soil.

Spain and the Arabian World were originally archenemies, but then Spain had shaken off those fears, so although there was still animosity towards the Arabs, there wasn’t a deep-seated hatred.

It was different with the British.

The British were eternal rivals, for it was Britain that had pulled Spain from its seat as the world’s superpower.

And till now, Britain had left a sore in the heart of Spain, the Gibraltar Strait.

Gibraltar remained a British colony to this day, and Spain could not reclaim it.

So, if Gao Yi had considered another destination, perhaps the Spanish would not have let them go, but once he ntioned going to the UK and continuing to fight with the CIA there, those words alone probably made Spain agree.

It was still unknown where the helicopter would take Gao Yi and his team.

Looking down from the air, the city and the vast land were entirely within view, yet Gao Yi could only discern a general direction and had no idea where they would land.

Luca was still on the ground waiting and could still be under surveillance by the CIA or Andic’s people, for all one knew what could happen.

Gao Yi felt he still needed to land, to pick up Luca.

Though gathering together made them easy targets for capture, it was better than leaving Luca alone.

Gao Yi took out his phone and dialed Luca’s number.

Luca answered the call.

“Where are you?”

“I’m on my way to et you.

I’m currently on the highway heading towards downtown Madrid.”

“Don’t go to the downtown area.

Throw away all the phones on you, it’s best to lead people elsewhere, then we’ll et up, and leave by helicopter.”

“Helicopter?”

Luca paused, asking, “Where did the helicopter co from?”

“Don’t ask.

Just make arrangents, then we’ll co to get you.”

“That’s convenient, I’ll park the car on the roadside, leave the car door open, and the phone in the car.

It won’t take long before it’s stolen.

This is the suburbs of Madrid, with many gypsies around.

Let them steal it.”

“Then we’re coming to get you, send your location.”

Luca gave his location, and Gao Yi spoke with the pilot, who was very cooperative in changing the flight path.

Finding soone was a cumberso process, but knowing the exact coordinates, it didn’t take too much ti to pick up Luca.

When Luca excitedly boarded the helicopter and had not yet had the chance to rejoice, he saw four hostages handcuffed on the helicopter seats.

“WTF…

what does this an?”

“Hostages, warriors who volunteered to replace the injured.”

Gao Yi liked the word “warrior”; it resonated with Europeans, Arabs, they all bought into that.

In China, calling soone a “warrior” might feel odd, if the context wasn’t right, it might even be seen as mockery, or just another poor joke, but here, praising soone as a warrior certainly wouldn’t be wrong.

So although they were hostages handcuffed, that captain felt quite gratified inside, making him feel Gao Yi and his team weren’t so detestable after all.

Luca had a “Here we go again” look, though shocked that this could also work, but since everyone was already on the plane, there was nothing more to say.

With hostages on the plane, there really wasn’t much else to say.

Luca found a seat and sat down quietly, ready to watch Gao Yi’s performance.

At this point, Gao Yi didn’t say much either.

Find a suitable place, get off the helicopter, and that would be it.

The helicopter continued to fly, and seeing completely different scenery below that bore no semblance of a city, Gao Yi shouted to the pilot, “Land here, we are getting off.”

The pilot didn’t react, ignoring Gao Yi.

Gao Yi raised his voice, shouting, “I said, land!”

Next would have been to threaten with a gun, but suddenly the pilot said, “Your destination has been arranged, we assure your safety, but you must leave Spanish territory.”

Gao Yi was quite surprised, wondering if Spain was planning to deport them after all.

Lucy pulled out a handgun and aid it at the pilot.

The NH-90 was a military helicopter without a lockable cockpit door.

Without turning his head, the pilot calmly said, “Will you be able to fly this helicopter if you kill us?

We have orders to take you to the border, you can go to France, no one will intercept you there.

But landing here is impossible.”

Lucy looked at Gao Yi, and with a gesture, Gao Yi signaled Lucy to lower her gun.

Gao Yi was curious about one thing.

“Can it fly that far?”

“Yes.”

The pilots did not want to engage in much conversation.

Having received orders from ground control, they would simply follow those commands.

Unless Gao Yi actually took a shot at them, the two pilots would not land.

Gao Yi, too, wanted to leave Spain quickly.

Being taken to the French border was interesting.

In this blue world, although France was also a ss, after all, it was one of the Five Permanent mbers, and it took a much tougher stance against the CIA.

Therefore, perhaps France would not have official direct involvent like Spain did.

The flight was long.

By the ti the helicopter landed, it was not evident that this was the border because European Union countries did not have border checkpoints or iron wire fences.

A welcoming party of a dozen vehicles and dozens of soldiers with loaded guns awaited Gao Yi and his group, and then the helicopter descended onto a clearing not far from the road.

Being surrounded again was nothing new since they had already erged from an encirclent.

When the plane landed, Gao Yi opened the aircraft door, and a stern-faced man approached, addressing Gao Yi seriously, “Five kiloters ahead is the French border.

Cars are prepared for you.

Get in and go to France.”

Spain and the United Kingdom did not share a border; otherwise, Gao Yi and his group would not have ended up at the French border.

Gao Yi looked at the hostages, and the person who ca forward to negotiate continued, “Hurry, you wouldn’t want France to get the ssage and intercept you, right?”

“Let’s go!”

There was nothing more to say.

Gao Yi called out and led the way out of the helicopter, then said calmly and composedly, “Get in the car, let’s go to France.”

Surrounded by soldiers with loaded guns, Gao Yi showed no fear.

At this point, Spain had no reason to deceive him.

“We will not follow.

It’s best if you release the hostages before entering France.

If you don’t keep the agreent, we will be forced to take military asures to rescue them.”

Gao Yi thought for a mont and said, “So, you an we drive off with the hostages and release them just before we reach France?”

“Yes.”

“There’s no need for that trouble.

Leave the hostages with you, and we’ll just drive away.”

Keeping the hostages was not very useful; Spain, wanting to wash its hands of them, would never co to the border.

Spain did not want to detain Gao Yi and his group, only to redirect the trouble eastward and kick the trash to the neighbor’s yard, so they didn’t need hostages.

Gao Yi also wanted to show his fearless confidence, so he grandly waved his hand at the captain, who was acting as a hostage, and said, “Respect to your courage, goodbye.”

Gao Yi then said to the negotiator, “We’re going to France first, then the UK.

This matter is our vendetta with the CIA.

We can’t go to the United States, and the CIA can’t go to Saudi, so we must resolve our vendetta in a third country.

With that in mind, the UK is a good choice.

Watch the news; you’ll be glad about today’s decision.”

Whether bluster is useful depends mainly on two things.

One’s own strength and the other’s needs.

If one is strong and can speak to the heart of the other, then bluster works well; otherwise, it’s useless.

“Good luck to you all.”

Surprisingly, the negotiator wished Gao Yi well.

Gao Yi casually waved, got in the car, and headed toward the French border.

Six people, two cars.

No one spoke in the car because they didn’t know if there were listening devices, and as for GPS tracking, that was a given.

Five kiloters wasn’t far; they arrived in a blink of an eye.

There were no checkpoints, soldiers, or police at the border, and Gao Yi and his team drove fully ard into France.

Once in France, they were truly safe.

Lin Xianghua had suffered greatly, and so had Gao Yi, so he finally said, “We’re in France now, safe.”

Lucy let out a soft sigh of relief because she had grown up in France, although she knew less about it than Gao Yi and his group.

“We should switch cars.”

“Mm, switch cars, but there’s no hurry.

Spain won’t rush to leak our information or notify France to intercept us.

The car we’re driving is safe.

Just change it for another one after getting to a major city.”

Checking the navigation, the nearest French city was Biarritz, which was basically right over the border.

Biarritz is one of France’s most famous seaside resorts, a place swarming with tourists and extrely convenient for renting cars.

The Spaniards were no fools; having kicked Gao Yi out of the country to direct the trouble eastward, they obviously had to find a suitable entry point to handle this ss.

The five-kiloter distance took just a couple of minutes to cover; it was almost as if they had just gotten into the car and were already on the French side.

It was at this mont that Gao Yi noticed a white envelope in the cup holder next to the gear shift.

“I think there might be sothing quite strange here.”

Gao Yi took the envelope, opened it, and found a stack of banknotes inside.

He pulled out the banknotes and examined the thickness and denomination, which added up to around two thousand euros.

Gao Yi waved the banknotes and said, “Look, they’re worried we won’t have money to rent a car, so they prepared cash for us.

Thanks to Spain, praise to Spain, the brothers in Spain are very courteous.

We won’t be coming back!”
