Phoenix City.

Ye Fan led the security administrators to a small town.

Shao Bao Town was called a small town, but it was more like a village.

There were a few stores, a small inn, and a clinic in the town, with no other living facilities.

Although Fox Xiaosan suggested to Ye Fan to visit Phoenix City, the city was large, and he still had no clear target.

Ye Fan chose this town simply because it was surrounded by many villages, hoping for a lucky break.

When it ca to solving cases, Ye Fan had little experience.

In the afternoon, Ye Fan called the leaders of the three security teams to his room for a brief eting.

Little White Dragon from the Divine Dragon Team, Bai Ge from the Bird’s Nest Team, and Whale Bird from the Blue Whale Team.

Whale Bird, although a Senior Administrator of the Security Administration with the sa rank as Ye Fan, was only similar in official rank.

Ye Fan’s cultivation was higher, and he had more experience, along with a background in the Changbai Mountain Demon Race.

Ye Fan had the advantage of being modest; when he couldn’t understand the case, he straightforwardly consulted the team leaders.

This direct approach earned Ye Fan favorable impressions from the leaders with backgrounds in the police and military.

Whale Bird said:

"Before coming to Phoenix City, I’ve already arranged for local sheriffs to install caras in each village, with sheriffs patrolling 24/7.

If anything happens, we will be notified imdiately."

Ye Fan thought for a mont and said:

"Is it necessary for the sheriffs to get involved?"

Those monsters are not sothing ordinary sheriffs can handle.

Ye Fan felt it was unnecessary to increase casualties.

Whale Bird retorted:

"If sheriffs don’t maintain security, then what’s the point of having them?

If they’re afraid to die, they shouldn’t be sheriffs."

Ye Fan had nothing to say, glanced at his watch, and said:

"How about this: we split into three groups and patrol outward from Shao Bao Town in three directions."

The team leaders looked at Ye Fan, waiting for his follow-up.

They thought Ye Fan must have so insight or discovery to issue such an order.

Could Ye Fan be sure the two monsters would appear near Shao Bao Town?

Ye Fan scratched his head, looking slightly embarrassed, and said:

"I just don’t want to stay idle. Do what we can.

It’s still early, just dusk. You’re not tired, right?"

The leaders pursed their lips, saying nothing.

Actually, Ye Fan also felt this would probably be a futile effort.

But when the leader speaks, what can they say?

...

At night, a bus from Phoenix City passed through Shao Bao Town along the asphalt road to Dasheng Village.

Bai Xiaoqing was a student at Imperial Capital Foreign Language University, Guardian Dao Academy.

After a few days’ delay at school and the National Day traffic peak, she managed to get a train ticket to Phoenix City today and caught the bus ho.

Bai Xiaoqing awoke on the bus and looked outside.

It was eight in the evening, shrouded in darkness outside.

In a little over ten minutes, she would reach Bai Family Village, with familiar surroundings.

The road she was traveling on was for the rural market; before living at school, she used to stroll along this road with friends on market days.

Clearly, this was her hotown—the most reassuring place for her—yet Bai Xiaoqing felt inexplicably uneasy.

The darkness outside seed ready to devour people.

Bai Xiaoqing took out her phone and scrolled through short videos, which often depicted horrifying stories of demons devouring people.

The more she watched, the more frightened she beca, though she had been quite brave before.

She put on headphones, opened a music app, and turned off the screen.

The gentle music brought Bai Xiaoqing so comfort, and she glanced at the other passengers, slowly regaining a sense of security.

Suddenly, Bai Xiaoqing noticed sothing; it was running alongside the bus.

Was it a pig?

That thing looked like a pig, which wasn’t unusual, considering so pigs ran away in rural areas.

But... was this pig running too fast?

The bus was going at least a hundred miles per hour now!

Bai Xiaoqing rubbed her eyes and looked closely at the thing.

The scales on its neck reflected glaring light under the moonlight.

How could a pig have scales?

The thing sensed Bai Xiaoqing’s gaze, its scarlet eyes looked over.

Bai Xiaoqing, a literature major who had read many books and written many articles, didn’t know how to describe those eyes.

Slaughter? Brutality? Evil?

After searching her mind for a long ti, she finally found the word ’greed.’

Those eyes were naked greed, pure desire to eat at.

Bai Xiaoqing quickly avoided the creature’s gaze, her face pale, heart pounding.

"Did I see it wrong? Am I too sensitive?"

Bai Xiaoqing cautiously peered again, only to see a terrifying pig head rushing towards her!

"Ah!!!!"

Bai Xiaoqing scread and held her head.

At that mont, a phrase from airplane disaster films ca to her mind, often shouted by flight attendants.

Heads down, bend forward, brace your body.

"Boom!"

After a loud explosion, the world spun, and Bai Xiaoqing lost consciousness.

After what seed like a long ti, Bai Xiaoqing woke up and slowly opened her blurred eyes.

Vaguely, she saw the ruined overturned bus, blood everywhere, and body parts.

Among the many passengers, she was one of the few survivors.

She had been flung out of the bus window during the rollover, with various injuries on her body and warm fluid dripping from her head.

"Help..."

Bai Xiaoqing saw a robust man crouching on the ground, presumably rescuing others.

Upon hearing her voice, the man turned sharply.

Bai Xiaoqing saw clearly, her pupils constricted; that was no robust man, it was a monster!

The monster was muscular, with a wild boar’s head, its tusks carrying pieces of bloody clothing.

The pig-headed monster stood upright, surprisingly three ters tall!

It approached Bai Xiaoqing at a slow pace, each step terrifying her.

As the pig-headed monster neared Bai Xiaoqing, its eyes showed a puzzled light, circling around her.

Bai Xiaoqing’s eyes widened in fear, she forgot to breathe.

The magic taught at Guardian Dao Academy was nowhere in her mind.

"Move, move!"

Bai Xiaoqing kept chanting in her heart, overwheld by her imnse fear, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Finally, Bai Xiaoqing used all her strength to gather a thread of Spiritual Power.

The pig-headed monster grew excited, howled towards the sky.

It finally realized why this at was so delicious—it was different from ordinary at!

She had Spiritual Power!

The pig-headed monster suddenly felt that other food was like dry wood, hard to swallow; this woman was a delicacy!

The pig-headed monster couldn’t help but swallow hard, opened its bloody mouth, and aid to bite Bai Xiaoqing’s head.

At that mont, a furious shout ca.

"Beast! Stop hurting people!"

The pig-headed monster halted its attempt to eat Bai Xiaoqing, its green eyes staring at the distance.

Over there, several figures rushed forward.

The pig-headed monster’s throat swayed continuously, scalp tingling.

Delicious, those guys even more so!

For the pig-headed monster, at with Spiritual Power was addictive!
