Eleanor Sterling’s toes were so awkward that they could have carved a castle out of the ground.

Aside from the two n at odds with each other, Elijah Hayes was trying his best to minimize his presence.

Mrs. Jennings, on the other hand, wore a delighted expression.

Just as the tension reached its peak, there was a knock at the door—dinner was served.

Alaric Faulkner lowered his head and started fiddling with his phone.

Eleanor could only mask her helplessness by sipping tea.

...

anwhile, at the Faulkner Family.

Estelle Sterling and Caleb Faulkner were playing a ga.

Suddenly, Caleb’s phone beeped, and Estelle promptly ran over to take a look.

She didn’t expect to see a ssage from Alaric Faulkner.

"Oh my! Caleb! Check it out, soone’s trying to steal our mommy away."

Caleb, upon hearing this, imdiately tossed aside the controller and ran over.

He peered at the phone and then wore the sa angry expression.

"This is outrageous, Estelle, we have to show them a thing or two!"

"Right, let’s change quickly. Sister Eleanor is dining at Summit Starlight; let’s hurry up and support Hades Faulkner."

Caleb promptly changed his clothes upon hearing this.

They both took a cab to the restaurant.

...

Mrs. Jennings looked at Alaric Faulkner with a smile and asked, "Since I’m addressing the Hawthorne heir as Silas, I might as well call you Alaric too."

She showed no favoritism, treating them equally.

Alaric Faulkner nodded, "You can call whatever you like."

Mrs. Jennings’ smile deepened, "I didn’t expect us to end up having dinner together by chance. It feels a bit abrupt to summon you both out of the blue."

The original intent was to compare potential grandsons-in-law, but now it had beco an impossible choice. Mrs. Jennings felt a bit helpless.

"Not at all."

"It’s fine."

Both shook their heads and spoke in unison.

Mrs. Jennings furrowed her brows again. Alaric Faulkner was handso and elegant, with an air of nobility that was hard to hide.

anwhile, Silas Hawthorne also exuded an extraordinary aura, carrying a refined charm that made conversations feel like a breeze.

Both seed to be a perfect match for Eleanor Sterling.

While Mrs. Jennings was lost in thought, Silas Hawthorne smiled lightly at Eleanor and said, "Miss Sterling, Stella must have caused you a lot of trouble at the academy. Thank you for looking after her."

Eleanor shook her head, "Not at all, she’s adorable and hasn’t been any trouble."

"I should treat you to dinner soti as a thank you."

"Uh... that’s not necessary."

Alaric Faulkner, seeing the two talking so fervently in his presence, had a clear hint of jealousy in his eyes.

Where are those two brats? If they take any longer, his wife will be stolen away.

Eleanor felt a chill run down her spine, instinctively shrinking, knowing without looking where it had co from.

Looking at Silas, she thought of their engagent and couldn’t help but feel awkward.

Seemingly sensing Eleanor’s embarrassnt, Silas Hawthorne, being the gentleman he was, decided not to continue the conversation.

Eleanor thought about how even if the Hawthorne Family believed the Jennings Family were betrayers, she needed to clarify things today.

So she said, "Mr. Hawthorne, regarding our engagent, I think it’s inappropriate, and I wanted to tell you that today."

Silas Hawthorne’s eyes flickered as he calmly asked, "I wonder what Miss Sterling finds inappropriate?"

He glanced at Alaric, saying, "You can follow your heart and not worry about what others think."

The others clearly referred to Alaric Faulkner.

His words succeeded in making Alaric’s face darken.

He chuckled coldly and said, "Silas, there’s a saying, ’Don’t covet a brother’s wife.’"

Silas seed not to notice the warning in his words and chuckled, "Alaric, you’re really reminding yourself appropriately."

When it ca to status, he had a more legitimate claim.

The sharp gazes clashed in the air, and their deanor changed, with an invisible tension like swords at the ready.

Eleanor had a look of utter resignation.

Why did things turn out like this?

At that mont, the door to the private room suddenly burst open, and two small figures dashed in.
