Ms. Li felt sowhat relieved when she heard the man’s words.
"Tomorrow, everything will be better tomorrow!"
There should be no problem with the blind date since the other party had already inquired about their daughter, Rong Yan.
They were interested in Rong Yan’s good looks and high school education, deeming her intelligent and capable of bearing a son who would be both handso and smart.
Once a woman is married and has children, even her greatest worries... will settle down.
Thinking this, the stifling frustration that choked Ms. Li finally dissipated.
"I’ll go wash the dishes,"
she said, stepping back outside.
These past few days, Rong Yan had locked herself away, refusing to do any chores, so all the household duties had once again fallen on her shoulders.
Not to ntion, working in the fields during the day, returning ho to feed the chickens and pigs, cook, and wash the dishes... her back was so sore she could hardly stand straight.
This brought a hint of displeasure back to her heart...
But Rong Yan didn’t care about what was on this person’s mind. She knew that after her questioning, that couple probably wouldn’t co to the room where she stayed anymore.
So she picked up her neatly arranged schoolbag, then pried open the window... and jumped right out...
It took her nearly an hour and a half to walk to town on her two feet.
Rong Yan didn’t go anywhere else. Based on the original host’s mories, she went directly to the police station.
There was a duty officer at the police station. When he saw a pretty young girl co in, he was sowhat surprised.
"Young lady, is there sothing you need at our station?" he asked.
"I’m here to report a cri," Rong Yan replied.
Upon hearing her ntion reporting a cri, the officer’s eyes widened, and his expression beca more serious, "Young lady, what cri are you reporting?"
Rong Yan handed over two strands of hair.
Looking at the hair extended before him, the officer was confused.
"This hair... What does it an?"
"I suspect that my current parents are not my biological parents and that there was a child-switch at birth. I know there’s DNA testing now. These are my foster parents’ and my hair. I request a DNA paternity test, and I’m willing to pay for it."
She only had twenty yuan on her.
The officer was baffled.
A child switch?
"...Do you have any other evidence?" It couldn’t be just because you said so, could it?
Considering the girl’s feelings, he gently hinted, "We need evidence for our investigations, and we can’t just proceed with a paternity test because you filed a report."
"I know that, but I’m certain they switched children, so I must be the victim, and I have the right to make this request. Ideally, I should have taken the test and then co to report the cri, but there’s not enough ti."
"Because they’ve locked up for two days, and the college entrance exams are tomorrow, they won’t let take the exam. Moreover, they even arranged a blind date for tomorrow. They’ve imprisoned , restricted my freedom—I escaped through the window. Furthermore, they’ve interfered with my marital freedom and my right to take the college entrance exams."
The officer: ...
"Here’s the evidence of my being locked up," Rong Yan showed him the bruises on her neck, which were slightly startling.
Seeing these bruises, the officer’s expression grew stern.
"Are you sure you’re alright? I could take you to the health clinic right now..."
"Officer, thank you, but that won’t be necessary. Besides, if I’m here to report a cri, I can be responsible for my own words and actions. Before escaping tonight, I tested my foster mother, and she’s terrified of the idea of taking the college entrance exam. She fears that if I get into university, I’ll be out of their control. And what they fear the most is that once I leave town, I could be discovered by my biological parents... This might affect their own biological daughter..."
What Rong Yan wanted was to cut through the chaos swiftly.
