Chapter 482: Chapter 481: Broad Daylight, Clear Sky and Earth
Lin Nianhe and Wang Shui hadn’t gone far when they reached the end of the corridor, where they could see the ward.
“Sister Shui, what do you plan to do?” Lin Nianhe asked softly.
“I plan to send Damin to enlist. The neighborhood committee notified us about the conscription a few days ago. I intend to pull so strings and send so gifts to get him enlisted as soon as possible. Then I’ll arrange for Xiaoxiao to relocate to the countryside,” Wang Shui said. “My sister-in-law just had a baby, and taking care of the little one is already exhausting. She always likes to take on everything herself. Having Xiaoxiao and Damin around just adds to her troubles.”
“Xiaoxiao hasn’t even finished middle school yet, right?”
“Mmm… I can’t manage all that anymore.” Wang Shui, seeming weary, shook her head. “That woman is crazy. Sooner or later Xiaoxiao will run into her. If I can’t confront her, can’t I at least avoid her?”
If possible, she wouldn’t want to back down, but with younger siblings still small, she preferred they grow up safe and sound rather than engrossed in conflicts.
Lin Nianhe looked at her for a mont and said, “Don’t send Xiaoxiao to the countryside. Bring the child back, and then I’ll go find Uncle Wong. Let’s have Xiaoxiao transfer to a school in Lan County.”
“Is that possible?”
“If he doesn’t agree, I’ll stage a sit-in outside his office.”
Wang Shui looked down, sighing deeply after a long while.
Lin Nianhe patted her shoulder and suggested, “Actually, Brother Qian and your sister-in-law could also consider moving to Lan County. The textile factory is bound to set up a transport team. Brother Qian has experience; it would be perfect for him. Your sister-in-law could also do so odd jobs… But, of course, these decisions depend on your considerations, since moving away from ho is no small matter.”
“We don’t have much holding us back at ho… Let ask my brother and see what he and my sister-in-law think,” Wang Shui said, feeling ntally drained and getting a headache from thinking too much.
“Yeah, take it slow, no rush. The textile factory hasn’t even bought vehicles yet, setting up the transport team will take ti,” Lin Nianhe added before asking, “Does that Chen Daya have a job?”
“Yes, she works at a food factory.” Wang Shui gently pressed her temples.
“Where does your family live?”
“In… wait, what are you going to do?” Wang Shui suddenly beca alert, turning her head and staring at Lin Nianhe, “Chen Daya is a troublemaker, don’t be foolish and go pick a fight with her! I’m not exaggerating; even Xiao Lan might not co out on top against her!”
“Hey, I’m not soone who resorts to violence.” Lin Nianhe shook her head. “If it can be solved with brains, why escalate to hands? The force of impact is mutual; if you hit soone, you too will hurt.”
Wang Shui was suspicious, refusing to tell Lin Nianhe where her ho was.
“Never mind then, I’ll go out with Fourth Sie and get Damin’s military enlistnt sorted out first.” Lin Nianhe stretched lazily, completely indifferent to the fact that Wang Shui hadn’t given her the address.
“Hey, Nianhe, I’ll give you so money.”
“We’ll talk about it later. Fourth Sie has money.”
Lin Nianhe left the hospital with Sie Yufei, buying sodas and strolling without a specific destination.
Sie Yufei was eager: “Xiao He, are you looking for Wild Lake?”
“Don’t be so narrow-minded. Does fighting always involve going to Wild Lake?” Lin Nianhe retorted casually.
“I knew you planned to beat her up!”
Sie Yufei swung a soda bottle back and forth in the air: “Just a couple of swings like this, guaranteed to smash her into the mud!”
Lin Nianhe grabbed his arm to avoid harming passersby: “Don’t smash her just yet. First think about how to get Damin enlisted.”
“Huh?” Sie Yufei puzzled, “Isn’t it just about signing up?”
Lin Nianhe rolled her eyes at him: “Do you think this is a vegetable market, just go whenever you say?”
“If he doesn’t pass the review, no connections would be useful,” Sie Yufei scratched his nose, “Like , I didn’t even need anyone else to screen out, my dad did it all by himself.”
Lin Nianhe burst out laughing.
She patted Sie Yufei’s shoulder and said, “The main issue with Damin’s case is the urgency. You go pull so strings, arrange for a dical check-up or sothing as soon as possible, whichever way is quickest. If he’s not qualified, we’ll think of other options.”
“Oh, that’s easy, just a special case to accommodate,” Sie Yufei looked around for the post office, “I need to give my brother-in-law a call to ask.”
Lin Nianhe pointed in the direction of the post office she had just seen: “You go, leave this task to you. I have other things to do, can’t accompany you.”
“What are you going to do!”
Without turning back, Lin Nianhe said, “Shopping, going to check on Sister Shui’s little nephew.”
“Wait for , I’ll co with you!”
“My sister-in-law is still in confinent, what would it look like for a grown man like you to go?”
“Hey you…”
Sie Yufei hadn’t finished speaking when Lin Nianhe had already run off.
Sie Yufei looked at the bright sun above and reassured himself after a mont’s thought: “In broad daylight like this, she wouldn’t choose this ti to beat soone up…”
With that thought, Sie Yufei turned his head and went to the post office.
Lin Nianhe wandered around, asking along the way, and quickly found the Vegetable Station.
She asked around near the Vegetable Station for Wang Shui’s ho, took a bit of a detour, and bypassed two drainages without covers before she finally found the ho of Wang Shui’s father.
The Wang Family’s door was tightly locked, with faint sounds coming out, sounding like children playing.
Lin Nianhe stood at the entrance of the Wang Family, glanced at her watch—twelve o’clock sharp.
“Hey, who are you looking for?” The neighbor next door saw Lin Nianhe’s unfamiliar face and frowned as she asked.
“Auntie, hello. I’m a friend of Wang Shui. Xiaoxiao’s arm broke and he’s had a high fever, keeps calling for his dad. Sister Shui asked to check on her father.” Lin Nianhe’s smile was serene and cunning, truly deceptive.
The auntie neighbor muttered “What a tragedy,” then said: “Girl, listen to this auntie, you better leave now. Shui’s dad won’t be ho at noon, and Chen Daya will co back to cook for her son. If she runs into you, who knows what that woman will say! Listen, just go, no need to stoop to her level.”
“Is that so,” Lin Nianhe’s face showed relief, “I’m lucky you’re kind to tell , then I’ll go look for Uncle Wang at his workplace.”
“Alright, go now, she’ll be back in just over ten minutes.” The neighbor auntie clearly disliked Chen Daya, spat on the ground before going inside.
Once she was inside, Lin Nianhe turned around and walked in the opposite direction, then quickly darted behind the back wall of the Wang Family.
Thirteen minutes later, exaggerated laughter from Chen Daya echoed from the Wang Family.
“Son, co, eat, Mom brought at back from the canteen for you!”
“Damn, that old hag in the canteen had at but wouldn’t give any, forced to scoop it out with a serving spoon!”
As Chen Daya was proudly recounting her exploits, suddenly a stone fell from the sky and accurately smashed her window glass.
“Damn it! Which little bastard dares to smash my window!”
Chen Daya exploded in anger, not even bothering with her coat, grabbing a kitchen knife, she charged out of the house.
She imdiately spotted a figure fleeing in panic about ten ters away; the person even looked back at her, as if provoking her.
Just a glance, and Chen Daya recognized the appearance of the person –
Dark-skinned, thick lips, wearing a pair of black-frad glasses, short hair.
She was sure she had never seen this kid before.
Seeing her not moving, the kid even threw another stone in her direction.
“Son of a bitch, stop right there! I’m gonna chop you up!”
Chen Daya holding the kitchen knife, strutted vigorously in pursuit.
